Brown beadhead woolly bugger -- size #8, what are the materials used to create this fly pattern,pls?

Answer: Brass gold bead, lead wire wrap under a brown chenille base, brown marabou with pearl flash for the tail, and to top off the fly is a brown saddle hackle wrapped towards the front. Copper wire is then wrapped in the opposite direction to secure the hackle. Finishing off the fly is a dab of head cement on the final knots. Hope this helps!

would these, in a size 6, be able to be cast with a spinning reel if I added a small strike indicator or split shot for weight?

Answer: Maybe with very light line (4 lb test) and an ultralight Rod. However, it may be better to search for clear bobbers...the kind you can fill with water to add weight. Something like these casting bubbles

Answer: Great question! Our pro staff absolutely love and depend on woolly buggers that are size #10 and #8. These sizes cast well on all fly rods. Also, you tend to catch more fish because you're not fishing flies that are too big for smaller trout. So, by fishing smaller sizes like #10 and #8 you widen your range to target trout of all sizes.

Answer: The Leader size is determined by the hook size of the fly. Take the hook size and divide by 3 and that gives you the leader size. A size 6 hook will take a 2X leader. A size 8 hook = 3X leader. A size 12 hook = a 4x leader. Etc. Your leader length should equal your rod length. Use mono line for tippet material as you wear your leader down.

Excellent quality. Look terrific in the water, hooks are VERY sharp and strong. Fished a black one for the first time today (float & fly on spinning gear for bass) and the largemouth went nuts for it. There were other guys burning crank baits and spinnerbaits, and they seemed confused about why the guy fishing with a bobber (me) was catching more bass. Strongly recommend getting some of these!

Haven't been able to try em out yet but just from holding them in my hand I'd say they are great quality. Truly eye catching and sure to get the fish hitting hard. Also came with a nice sticker and a "match the hatch" guide that is great for a beginner like me. Just a message to others looking to buy from The Fly Crate, I went to go buy more and I noticed that the 6 pack appears to be sold by a foreign name where as the 12 pack says sold by The Fly Crate. Make sure to check the name of who is selling the product if you want to buy from The Fly Crate and support an American owned company.

Purchased these Based on the Utah origin and the hope they would be a great source for my files. They are priced well and appear to be well built to me. Looking forward to getting them into the water.

Something I'd like to mention. They didn't advertise it when I made my purchase, but there was a small note with the Wooley bugger collection. It explains that 2% of all sales are committed to their Healing Flies Program which is in partnership with a group I support, Project Healing Waters. These programs help in the rehabilitation of veterans that need support. It is a truly amazing thing to witness and be a part of. I would have purchased the files based on that program alone.

Great looking product. The flies arrived packaged with an info pamphlet, and a really cool sticker (sticker looks great on a bottle). The flies themselves look and feel amazing. Their is lots of material in the flies, some I’m pretty sure I can see some marabou, flash, thread wrap, bead, and bucktail. As trash fly tie person I appreciate the quality of these flies.
