Answer: It is any fly that has what appears to be a "parachute" attached to the top. It helps in low visibility situations as well as mimicking certain stages of insect development.

Answer: The vast majority of flies are tied in Asia - Thailand, Sir Lanka, India, etc. At this price it's pretty much a guarantee that's where these come from. Unless you tie your own flies or buy flies specifically tied for you by a US commercial fly tier you know, your flies are tied in Asia. Nothing wrong with that though...millions of fish have been caught on Asian tied flies!

Will these flies catch bass and panfish?

Answer: Yes, I have caught bass, panfish, and trout on these flies.

Answer: Some of them will, but if that is what your main interest is, but small popping bugs. My favorite is yellow with red dots on the bottom, rubber legs. They catch more brim and bass then anything else and they are fun to useon a fly rod.

Like the title says great starter pack. It comes with 50 dry and 50 nymph. The box is great but no latch closure so not enthused about that, but the selection is good. It has quite a few both nymph and dry that are in the 20+ plus range so be ready for some challenging tying.

Awesome flies but I am a little disappointed at the box not latching or closing tighter.

Very good variety of flies that appears to cover the full gambit of most of what you would need in dry and nymph flies. The box is good, but it does not seem to stay closed easily when the flies are in the box. I just wrapped a rubber band (which I would have done anyway) and it works fine. The box is solid and appears to be durable.

Comes in 2 small containers marked dry and nymph. Had 50 dry and 49 nymph. Im taking a star not because it was short a fly but because as I was putting them in the case I noticed at least 5 Flys where the thread was unraveling. This could potentialy get an update if I find they are not tied well once I start using them.

Great box, god flies. The box is aluminum and is almost large enough to hold all of the flies in the foam. Be careful, because the compartment side will smash your flies when you close the box if you are not careful. Flies are assortment of everything to get you going, would definitely buy again!! update on 26 November 2013, went fishing for a rare fish called a Lenok that is native to only a few streams here in Korea, these flies worked GREAT, caught 2 Lenok and 1 Rainbow on dry and nymphs from this set, the fish wouldn't even touch the flies I bought from a local Korean shop.
