The essential selection of fly box and fly fishing flies if you're fishing for trout, steelhead, or salmon. There are enough assorted flies in this kit to allow you to fly fish just about any freshwater river or stream all year round. The fly patterns and sizes chosen in this set are the most effective patterns and are a must have in every fly fisherman's fly box. Please see pictures on fly patterns and sizes included in this set. This is a classic hand crafted "Wheatley" style fly box made from high grade aluminum. Fly box comes with rippled foam compartment on one side and 16 individual spring compartments on the other. Answer: It is any fly that has what appears to be a "parachute" attached to the top. It helps in low visibility situations as well as mimicking certain stages of insect development.

Answer: The vast majority of flies are tied in Asia - Thailand, Sir Lanka, India, etc. At this price it's pretty much a guarantee that's where these come from. Unless you tie your own flies or buy flies specifically tied for you by a US commercial fly tier you know, your flies are tied in Asia. Nothing wrong with that though...millions of fish have been caught on Asian tied flies!

Answer: Some of them will, but if that is what your main interest is, but small popping bugs. My favorite is yellow with red dots on the bottom, rubber legs. They catch more brim and bass then anything else and they are fun to useon a fly rod.

This product is amazing. The flies look great. Shipment was very fast. The box is a great value and I use it all the time. The flies look like the insects they are imitating.

Very good variety of flies that appears to cover the full gambit of most of what you would need in dry and nymph flies. The box is good, but it does not seem to stay closed easily when the flies are in the box. I just wrapped a rubber band (which I would have done anyway) and it works fine. The box is solid and appears to be durable.

GREAT FLIES. Heck of an assortment at an unbeatable price. Quality is about as good as Orvis / Cabelas etc. You get 100 flies in a nice fly aluminum fly box... Just about anything you could ever need - drys , wets, nymphs, bead head nymphs, a couple of streamers (both wolly buggers) and a san juan worm.

One thing to be aware of - and this isn't a criticism its just giving you a heads up. The flies are NOT packed in the box as shown in the pic. The box comes EMPTY and you get two little containers with 50 flies each. YOU will have to sort them and place them in the box yourself - so be prepared to do that. Its not a problem, but just know that you will be getting several of the same ones in various sizes so youll have to sort them. Some of them are also EXTREMELY small so have your hemostats handy when putting them in the box and start warming up your squinting muscles.

Its a great assortment that should equip you for trout in any north American waters. I am very happy with the purchase...

Great box, god flies. The box is aluminum and is almost large enough to hold all of the flies in the foam. Be careful, because the compartment side will smash your flies when you close the box if you are not careful. Flies are assortment of everything to get you going, would definitely buy again!! update on 26 November 2013, went fishing for a rare fish called a Lenok that is native to only a few streams here in Korea, these flies worked GREAT, caught 2 Lenok and 1 Rainbow on dry and nymphs from this set, the fish wouldn't even touch the flies I bought from a local Korean shop.

Im taking a star not because it was short a fly but because as I was putting them in the case I noticed at least 5 Flys where the thread was unraveling. This could potentialy get an update if I find they are not tied well once I start using them.

Some people said this was hard to pack and they wish it didn't have compartments on 1 side, there are 1 options, 1 with compartments and 1 without...get the one without and you will be golden. I have big hands by big hand standards and have no issues taking flies out (no, I don't have skeleton fingers). The flies do come in 2 plastic containers, 1 with the dries and 1 with the nymphs and all of mine were tied quite well. Make sure you have about an hour to sort and pack the flies, I organized my flies by body (thorax/abdomen) color first, that made instant pairs of about half the dry flies. The nymphs did come out in 1 big ball, just shake them and they will begin to fall apart. Great setup!! Nowhere does it say it's waterproof, just to throw it out there, it is not a waterproof fly box.

Nice little fly box and fly set. Each fly seems to be of decent quality. Although it would have been better if the box had a proper way to secure it from accidentally opening. Also would have been nice if they were already put into the little box as in the picture instead of two plastic containers. Other than that it's acceptable.

I love the slection of flys that came in this kit and the tin has alot more storage the little doors clip down and seem like they are very sturdy. I fit in another whole box flys that i had into this one. The only thing is they come in plastic tubs and you have to put them in the tin. not a real big deal but from the picture I thopught they would come in the box already loaded up.
