Will these work with a 7/8 weight fly rod
Answer: A 7/8 weight rod could be a bit overkill, but you can easily cast the largest of the popper in the package. I have been using these poppers on a 5wt rod and they work fine.
Answer: I am not sure. I use them with a very lightweight spinning rod and reel and 4 pound fluorocarbon line. I use a plastic bubble bobber for weight. These are very lightweight floating flies - and probably use lightweight rods, fly lines, and tippet. They are about 1 inch long with the feather tails. You will probably want to go with lighter gear.

These poppers sink after a few fly casts. They will float at first and then stay a couple inches below the surface.

I received 10 #2 poppers that looked exactly as pictured. I haven't fished them yet, but have initial feedback:
The good:
Hooks are sharp and stout, bodies look durable.
Nice variety of colors.
The bad:
Paint job is fragile as small amounts of chipping were visible.
Feathers and flash look insubstantial and perfunctory.
To fix the feather part, I took half of the poppers and stripped off the original and put my own stuff on (on the right in the picture). Some I tied bucktail or EP fox brush along with additional flash for a more fishy look and others I simply added more substantial feathers and flash for a froggy look. I plan on testing the original popper against my heavily modified poppers to see if the mods are actually better.
To fix the paint issue, I coated the popper bodies with Hard as Nails which has worked well for me in the past protecting more fragile colorations on the body.
Once I figure out if these work, I'll update my review.

Hooks are all size 8, no size 10. Heads are just different sizes. Disappointing because I wanted size 10

The hook size 2 with 1.5 inch fly is big enough for large bass in Texas. Definately gets noticed lake fishing when many traditional flies don't.

T-Man : hooks seem too big
build looks good. only complaint is that the hooks are too big for some of the poppers. hence the one star deduction. another thing is that I was mashing the barbs, and the point of the hook started to bend. didn't break off though.came in a small storage box that will be nice to use as well. not sure I would but them again, but these are relatively inexpensive. I do prefer the Betts poppers over these though.

I gave these 2 stars because I caught 6 bluegill and a smallmouth bass on the smaller red popper but that action took all of the red paint and both "eyes" off the fly. You will be repainting these poppers. The attractor design of these poppers does work well
