How long do you leave meats and cheeses in the dome to smoke?

Is dome glass or plastic?

Answer: Thick plastic is what the dome is made of. Great products, definitely would reccomend

Mine did work at all! How do I return it?

Does it come with wood chips?

Answer: It does not come with wood chip. I need to purchase wood chips and a torch on the side.

Answer: No, it doesn’t. But it does come with batteries.

Answer: The chips are separate and listed on Amazon as smoking chips for electric smokers. Cherry, Apple and Mesquite are my favorites.

This requires 4 aa batteries, not 2, and instructions say you cannot use rechargeable batteries. why not? there shouldn't be a problem.

How can i buy extra mesh filters?

Can you use wood pellets?

Answer: I have not tried pellets, but I think you can but it will take longer to light them with a lighter or match before they will catch. I take a knife and use a few shavings from a dry twig I pull from my trees. You may want to carve off small shavings from the wood pellet to use--but it will be difficult to do this from a tiny pellet than from a larger twig. You can also use tea leaves for a different flavor. It doesn't take much wood shavings and the reservoir does not hold much and you are not supposed to pack it tightly full or it will block the airflow through the screen.

I watched a YouTube video about curing Salmon into Gravlax (or Lox for us Jewish folks). I happen to also be of Viking blood so I guess I am intersalmon. At the end of the video the Chef brought out a small smoker and I was blown away. My previous smoked salmon took hours in my cold smoker. Now I can just smoke small portions in less than an hour and save the rest of the Lox for people who don't like the fish smoked. I never knew these things existed. Buy it, you will love it!

I have been curing a large salmon filet which was ready this morning. As I was finished slicing the Lox my smoker arrived and is smoking the fish as I write this.

This little devise is beautifully designed and the quality is superb. They even include the four batteries, two extra screens and a handy little tweezers which are great for loading the wood shavings into the fire basket. I read some negative reviews and I suspect these came from users who have not figured out smoke makes soot and resin and you actually have to CLEAN the little turbine that feeds the smoke through the hose into the WONDERFUL acrylic dome, which fits perfectly over a saucer.

I cannot wait to start smoking cheese and other food items.

Bought this for my husband as a birthday gift after seeing one similar at a local bar. They made a smoked old fashioned for him and he loved it so I ordered one for him so he could do that at home. It arrived quickly and is great. We’ve not only done the drink but we also smoked ribs with it. Cooked them on the grill then put them in the dome smoker to give them a smoky flavor - delicious!

Nice unit and works great BUT you can’t get replacement screen filters for it as a matter of fact it not mentioned on the manufacturer’s website . I emailed customer service and they said no parts are available. Hmmm

Followed all manufacturers directions. Inside of burn chamber melted on second try. We were using small wood chips as directed. DO NOT BUY. Amazon sends you to manufacturer who only replaces if product is unused. Great idea, very poor execution.
