is the blade flimsy and flexible or is it stiff and strong?

Answer: The blade is in between. It is strong, but is also flexible for cutting fillets. The grip has cut-outs for your fingers and does not slip. Keep it sharp and it works great. It is the best fillet knife I have owned.

Does it have a belt loop on the sheath?

Answer: I believe it does but it was a gift so I didn't really check it out. Sorry.
