Answer: Stainless

The description says ceramic, but the answer was stailess, I just wanted to be sure about the material, please clarify.

Does the recipe book come in English version?

Answer: The book advertised here appears to be in English!

what is difference between this and glass top model aside from slight size difference?

Answer: I personally don't think there will be much difference

Can I also use it as a regular pot for stews and soups?

Does it have a water seal to keep the smoke inside as I read that the more expensive donabe has? If not, how much smoke escapes?

Answer: Almost no smoke at all. I still did the water seal around the lid but not sure how effective this was. The donabe does a nice job though.

Answer: It does not have a water seal. It leaks minimally, it’s never made my kitchen smoky or set off a smoke alarm

Answer: No seal - i guess you could do a foil or paste seal. I use mine on a portable butane burner on the patio, can be quite a bit if you add a lot of chips or use a wired thermometer to check meat temp

does it need to be seasoned before use?

Answer: I did not season this one but I have a original donabe from Japan that I did season

Can you use this on an electric stovetop?

Answer: Hi there,

Answer: Yes you can, I have used it successfully multiple times on an electric stove, it does leak a little smoke into your house, but not bad

Does this Danobe need to be seasoned?

Answer: Hi there,

Answer: I do not think so. I did not season mine and it has worked and held up well.

Why does this product require "expert assembly"????? From what I can see, there doesn't seem to be anything that needs to be assembled.

Answer: There is no assembly required, oh unless you cannot put the grate inside the pot itself... that could get a little precarious ????

Answer: There is ZERO assembly required. Ray Charles could put it together!

Does this smoker come in bigger size?

Answer: This is the only size I have seen. It is small, maybe two chicken breasts will fit or one salmon piece. Honestly I use it for just cooking for myself or testing out different wood chip combos before firing up my big smoker

Answer: I have seen a two person and a 4 person version of this smoker.

My donabe came with recipes and instruction in japanese. do you have these documents in english?

Answer: If you find them, I want to know. The recipe book alone makes me wish they did.

Can use inside oven? If yes, what is max temperature?

Answer: It is clay, so I would believe so. All the instructions are in Japanese, so hard to tell the top temp

How do you season it?

Answer: I did not season this donabe. To find out all there is about Donabe etc. get the wonderful book entitled "Donabe" by Nagko Takei Moore Kyle Connaughton" She knows and writes all about donabe including seasoning

Can I use this on a glass cooktop?

Answer: Yes, it can!

The way it was described I expected there would be a small well running around the outer edge where the wire rack sat. There is no well there so the water that they tell you to put in it, just goes down in the bottom where your chips are. There is nothing to hold any water along the edge. It did say to keep water in there but again, there is no well to fill. I couldn't get a response from anyone so just letting you know. I've only used it once so far so I don't have a whole lot to say yet

This is by far the best purchase I have made in a long time. Since I purchased it I have barely used my stove. You can cook whole meals in this of a variety of food at the same time. It is perfect for when I only have to cook for myself, but also to cook smoked items to add to a larger meal. I can't praise this enough. My only regret is not purchasing the larger one.
