Questions about Traeger Grills Pro Series 22 Electric Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker, Bronze
Q:
Can you cook a chicken standing up in it?
Answer: Yeah, but you'll burn your feet.
Answer: yes
Q:
Reading customer reviews seems to be a fifty fifty chance of operating correctly and poor customer support. What can you say to me to make the purchas
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Wife bought me the older version of this model - about 5-6 years ago for a birthday present. Awesome grill - worked as advertised- easy to assemble. However even though I kept it covered it rusted out and I'll be pushing it to the curb. Disappointed as our propane grill is 15 years old and looks nearly new. Uncertain if Traeger has implemented treating the metal yet or not.
Answer: Follow the set up instructions and you should be fine... I have had no issues with it and I'm very happy with it.
Q:
Does this model have the wifire technology?
Answer: No it does not. If you want Wirefire Technology you have to get the new 2019 Pro 575 or Pro 780 model.
Answer: No
Answer: No it doesn't
Answer: Yes it does.
Q:
I sent this item back a day after it was received. I still have not received my money back. When will I get my money refunded?
Q:
(1) Is this the Ridgeline? (2) Does it have two temperature probes?
Answer: It does have two temperature probes but does not have the wifire technology. However, the grill/smoker works great!
Answer: Yes this model has two temp probes
Q:
Do you deliver the trager grill to anchorage alaska?
Answer: Have to ask Amazon
Q:
Can you mix pieces of charcoal with the wood pellets if the charcoal is in small pieces the same size as wood pellets?
Answer: I would say NO! Wood pellets have a size and dimension that are calculated at an assigned burn ratio to asure a proper temperature and cooking times. Charcoal is burnt wood and has a different burn ratio and would give improper cooking time and jam up the fuel delivery system. The Charcoal would work on other open fire grill, however if you would like to test your theory please do and post the results.
Answer: No, the grill is designed to use only wood pellets as fuel.
Answer: No it is made for only pellets.
Answer: I would not do so! It might damage the delivery mechanism that feeds the fire.
Answer: It does not appear so
Q:
does the grill have a warranty
Answer: Traeger Pellet Grills LLC warrants this barbecue grill against defects in material and workmanship under normal use and maintenance for a period of three (3) years from the date of original purchase. I gleaned this information from the Traeger internet site. Hope it helps.
Q:
how do you clean the ashes?
Answer: I use shop vac.
Answer: A Shop-Vac can be used to remove the ashes or scooped out with a spoon.
Q:
How hot will the grill surface get? Will it boil six quarts of water?
Answer: The interior gets to around 400 degrees, so eventually it will boil, but I don't like running mine that hot for that long because it can get burn back in the fire pot and feeder tube
Answer: Traeger's work similar to a convection oven. The water will boil once it has reached over 200F.
Q:
How do you get more of a smoke ring, i cant find a p-hole i guess this model doesn't have one, i placed in smoke position for 45mins. please help.
Answer: Some newer grills no longer have a p-setting but if you are looking for more of a smoke flavour, we suggest smoking the meats between 160F-225F for longer cooks at lower temps will produce more smoke flavour and the smoked ring on the meat.
Answer: Pending on model you won’t have a p setting.
Q:
How long is the power cord?
Answer: The power cords for our grills are approximately 6 ½ feet long
Answer: I would say no more than 5 feet. I attach my cord to a short heavy duty extension cord which I unplug after use. It is adequate for my need.
Answer: 6 ft
Q:
Is it self fed pellet?
Answer: Yes, each and every pellet is carefully selected for its commitment and loyalty to the Traeger gods. The auger carries them to the fire pit but each one jumps in voluntarily, without question or delay. It's a beautiful thing ...
Q:
Is this reversible? I would like to have the pellets on the right and the smokestack on the left. All the pics show the reverse.
Answer: The new one is reverse from last years model. Pellets on the right. Not reversible.
Q:
Is this the same one being sold on HSN?
Answer: Yes, and the one on HSN offers you a free shelf, cover, and 2 bags of pellets and $100 cheaper the shelf alone is $59
Answer: I have no idea if this is being sold on HSN. I personally don't watch that network. Check model numbers and you'll be able to determine if they match.
Answer: I am not sure but its worth the purchase. One of the best purchases of my 53 year life. I know its a little high but its built to last and makes bbq and smoking so easy. Come join the Traeger club, get the book and app for phone for tasty recipes.
Answer: If the descriptions match, I would guess it is.
Q:
Does this come with a cover?
Answer: No cover came with mine.
Answer: No it does not come with a cover, however they are available on Amazon for each specific model!
Answer: Nope
Q:
Hi there does this traeger have the wifi option?
Answer: No it doesn’t
Answer: No
Q:
Can i chang plug to 220v? Its free volt?
Answer: No, you cannot change the plug to 220V.
Answer: Don’t think so.
Q:
What's the difference between the pro 22 silver and bronze series
Answer: The Silver series is built to be portable, has a smaller pellet hopper and a smaller cooking surface (300 sq. in.). The Silver models are coined "Tailgater's whereas the Bronze models are not portable, have larger pellet hoppers and larger cooking surfaces (572 sq. in.). Check out Traeger's web site for more specific details on each and every available model.
Answer: I believe that it's just the color
Answer: None that I have seen.
Answer: Color...literally color.
Q:
What is the main difference between this grill and the Traeger Eastwood 22" grill? Is the controller on the newer model different?
Answer: Controller and two temp probes
Q:
can it be packed in two boxes?
Answer: Comes packed from the factory in one box. Very poorly I might add. Mine came damaged with one outside damaged to the box. I returned it but didn’t replace because when I did the price had gone but $100 and they would honor the old price. Inside packing protection is terrible. When the UPS man picked up he said he was picking them up returned damaged all the time. I bought a different brand, from a different vendor. It arrived with no damage.
Answer: Mined came packed in one box quite nicely. All parts were well protected and in good condition.
Answer: I comes unassembled in one box, everything to from the tools to very detailed assembly instructions to start cooking. You will have to purchase the wood pellets. I hope this helps
Answer: The hoper and the barrel are connected, only the legs and the chimney are separate. So technically yes
Q:
How many turkeys will this traeger cook?
Answer: I guess it would depend on the size of turkey. I think two 16 pound birds would fit nicely
Answer: At least 2. Possibly 3.
Q:
Do I need the insulating blanket for my pro 22 during winter in Montana?
Answer: We recommend only using an Insulation Blanket when the ambient temperature is 30° F (-1°C) or lower. Insulation blankets should also only be used when the grill's temperature is set to 350 degrees or lower. If you are planning a cook in temperatures above freezing, or a cook that requires the grill be set higher than 350 degrees, remove the insulation blanket, as this could cause damage to the grill and the blanket, and in some cases, fire. Pro series 22 insulation blanket Part number (BAC6226)
Answer: Not having to deal with Montana winters as I live in south Texas, I cannot answer your question, but you have no liquid in or on the grill to freeze. I do have mine covered with a grill cover that is not insulated and I have had no issues.
Q:
I’m thinking about purchasing this Traeger for my outdoor kitchen. Can the unit sit flat on a counter without the legs?
Answer: I wouldn’t think so; build a shorter platform that can withstand the heat (such as from bricks or concrete blocks)
Answer: the best I can determine is no this model needs its legs
Answer: No. Because of how the pellet box and the grease drain are set up.
Q:
What is the height to the top of the door if it is open? It's going outside and I'm building a small roof to shelter weather.
Answer: About 5 ft I’d give a little extra room too
Q:
what size cover fits ?
Answer: The BAC379 22 series grill cover is a perfect fit. I highly recommend this cover and the Traeger grill, one of the best purchases I have ever made and definately get the cover to protect and preserve it. Enjoy all that good food you are about to smoke...
Answer: I recently ordered the Traeger BAC503 Pro 575/22 Series Full Length Grill Cover, Black from Amazon and it is a perfect fit!
Answer: I don’t know the specific size, but I got an off-brand cover that said in the description that it fits this specific model/size traeger and it was very accurate.
Answer: Any cover for a 22" barrel smoker. Traeger cover is best.
Q:
Which drip liner do I use with the Pro22 ?
Answer: For Pro 22 the part number for the drip tray liners is BAC507.
Answer: Tin foil works as good as anything.
Q:
What size turkey can this Pro 22 smoke?
Answer: 14lb
Q:
Does the trager pro 22 grill come with a drip bucket?
Answer: Once you purchase the grill, it also includes the drip bucket.
Answer: There is a galvanized tin bucket to catch the fat and/or drippings. It is beneath the smoke stack.
Answer: It does. I line mine with tin foil to keep the bucket clean.
Answer: Yes it does. You can even see it in this picture handing on the right side. Enjoy!
Answer: yes
Answer: Yes
Answer: Yes
Q:
Does the treager grill pro series 22 572sq in model #tfb57pzbo come with a front shelf?
Answer: The front shelves for the Pro 22 models are not included.
Answer: It does not. I do recommend that you get one. I find that I use the hopper cover lid to put things on
Q:
Doe this grill comes with the temperature probes?
Answer: The 575 does.
Q:
What Temperature will this go to?
Answer: 450 deg F, according to literature....so far, have only had it up to 350. Takes a while to rise up to 350...have to keep the lid closed..."set it and forget it"!
Q:
what are the measurements And weight of the shipped unopened box? I’m looking to bring it on a plane trip and need measurements
Answer: As I can remember it's about 4x2x2 and about 140 lbs
Q:
Can anyone verify the internal dimensions of the barrel and the location of the fire box (centered or # inches from side)?
Answer: I am unable to give you the internal dimensions of the barrel but the actual firebox is located dead center within the lower portion of the barrel and somewhat covered with a tilted drip pan that directs grease flow to the external catch bucket. Hope this helps.
Q:
does it come with a grease tray? One offer was a addon
Answer: Yes, it does come with a drip tray for the grease.
Answer: This model does come with a pan under the grill that catches the grease from the grill. You must remove and clean the pan after heavy grease or food particles that falk through the grill racks. This model does come with an small bucket to catch and burnt pellets ashes from under the grease pan.
Answer: My grill came with a grease bucket, for which I purchased a disposable liner which can be recycled. There is a tray inside the grill that funnels the grease to the bucket. I do cover the tray with heavy duty aluminum foil. Clean up is much easier by doing this.
Answer: It comes with a tray which you will cover with foil. The grease flows downward towards a little bucket which is also lined with foil to collect the grease.
Answer: Yes it came with a grease tray. I like to cover it with foil it helps with the clean up. I use heavy duty foil. ????
Answer: There is a tray that slopes down to the included bucket. I would suggest adding the bucket liners, but heavy-duty foil works fine on the tray.
Answer: Yes, and tray drains into bucket on the side of the smoker.
Answer: It has a stainless steel tray for the grease to spill on. It does not have a tub like tray to catch it
Answer: Yes and a bucket to collect all the excess grease

Q:
How does Pro 22 compare to Pro 575?
Answer: I am not familiar with the Pro 575. However the Pro 22 does not disappoint! It is an amazing grill and very easy to use. My family loves it.
Answer: 575 has the wifire controller. Pro 22 is the digital pro controller. Most of the rest is similar I believe
Answer: I looked at both and got the 575. It is the newer model and has far superior temp control in 5 degree increments. It also has the internet connection that u can even go uptown for more beer and still monitor or change temp on the grill. Got it for the same price as the 22 on a fathers day sale.
Answer: The pro 575 is WiFi and this one is not. Also its much cheaper

Q:

Answer: You can.
Answer: yes, it lift up and out
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can you grill and sear steaks on this or is this low and slow only?
Answer: I have do a REVERSE SEAR. Cook low & slow (smoke taste) until almost (10>15 degrees below) at desired temperature, as measured with auxiliary meat thermometer (rare, medium rare, well done). Pull meat off grill, close lid, turn up to maximum temperature (about 15 minutes). Return meat to grill, close lid, about 15 minutes per side (until thermometer indicates your desired final (rare, medium rare, well done) temperature. Remove from grill & let rest 10>15 minutes. Slice & serve!
Answer: The temp adjust to a high setting above 375 degrees. You can grill steaks but not sear because there is no direct flame that hits the meat. Every smoker recipe you can find will instruct you to sear the meat first on a stove then proceed to the smoker. Overall I would highly recommend this grill, it can cook anything from bbq to cookies or a cake. You will not regret this purchase...
Answer: Grill, sear, bake, smoke. Temps go up to 450.

Answer: It has the built in thermometer, and 2 probes. You can display any of the 3 on the digital readout
Q:
Do you have to use a 14ga extension cord or will a 15 foot 16/3 outdoor cord suffice?
Answer: I have been using a 15 foot 16/3 outdoor cord. and its working fine.
Answer: A 16/3 outdoor extension cable should work just fine. Generally, any common extension cord will work as long as it has a grounding plug.
Answer: We use a regular outdoor extension cord with no issues.
Product reviews of Traeger Grills Pro Series 22 Electric Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker, Bronze
john matthews : worked perfect out of the box
put it together in about 30 minutes, followed instructions to prime the pellets and fire it up. did the 1 hour seasoning, and cooked some great bbq chicken. totally pleased!! exceeded my expectations as i've always done charcoal or wood chunk/sticks.
Theresa Allsopp : The cook time and taste.
This item was amazing. It was easy to put together. And I did it all by myself. I followed the easy instructions and it started up. My first item I cooked was a rack of ribs. And they were amazing. I couldn’t believe the taste. I am now a grill master ????????????????????????

Dagmar : It works great
Was easy to assemble
Thomas S. Lindner : Cheap metal and exterior paint cannot handle the temperatures
I've had this grill for about 9 months now. I like this type of grill. It cooks well. The probes are very convenient and pellets are easier to use than gas. Smokes very nicely. I'm just very disappointed with the quality of metal that Traeger is using. The drip plate and firebox cover were both showing signs of rust before the grill was even assembled. So far, I've gone thru about 160lbs of pellets. There is a significant amount of rust now. You can definitely see that these two parts, in particular, will rust out within a few years and require a replacement just from humidity alone. The firebox will probably not be too far behind that. Another issue is that a large area of the exterior hood paint is disintegrating from the heat. I'm concerned that this too will start to rust now that it's exposed to open air. The unit is covered and not exposed to the elements (i.e. sun and rain...just open-air). I have a 10-year-old Weber grill and its hood is baked enamel. That hood looks much better than the Traeger's even after all this time. Even though this is relatively an entry-level Traeger grill, it wasn't cheap and I was expecting a higher quality product, comparable to my Weber. It's not even close. I cannot recommend this model with a good conscience.
Sean Childress : Backyard BBQ Game Changer
This grill is awesome and makes you look like a BBQ Deity. The probes ensure you don't overcook you meat. Pellets are reasonably priced. A a local Big Box store they are even more reasonable. Grill was dented in shipping and I was able to correct the issue so it's not noticeable.
Amy B : Best smoker/grill on the planet for the price...
We've been looking for an affordable smoker/grill that would maintain the temperature for years. Our brother in law actually has a smaller version of this and cooked for us one weekend and we were sold. It is worth every penny. We can grill a 22 pound turkey on this Traeger. It's awesome. Just ordered a thermal blanket (sorry Amazon- you were out, found it at Cabelas) for the super cold winters up here in Buffalo to see how it holds the temps!
Roddy J. : Best grill decision I've made
Never used a Traeger before. I am hooked! Temperature control is perfect. Meat comes out perfect. Getting pellets for it is easy (any hardware or BBQ store I've gone to has pellets). Understand that this isn't a traditional grill. Leaving it open for burgers and anything else for a high temperature isn't very effective. This works best when smoking meat is the goal.
M. Alan : Works fantastic!
Well packaged, assembled quickly. I plugged it in, went through the start up procedure, smoked/grilled a few different cuts of meat, let it go through its cool down process when I was finished and everything worked fantastic. The temp probes are accurate, it’s easy to clean and the food tastes fantastic. Best grilling/smoking investment I’ve ever made!
Chileman : Get a Traeger smoker/grill and enjoy the easy life
I have wanted a Traeger for quite some time and finally made the purchase decision. We've smoked a rack of beef ribs, a partially cooked ham and a pork shoulder butt roast, all with very tasty results. The Traeger smoker/grill works to perfection and provides mouth watering results. Using the provided temperature probes and automatic temperature control, the Traeger does all of the work with no hassles. One need not constantly check the smoker for fuel and/or air mixture as this is all taken care of. The Traeger is the easy man's smoker/grill and well worth the purchase.
Avery Magee : Believe the hype people!
This thing is insane! Everything we’ve made has turned out perfect! Highly addictive!!
John J. : I should of bought one of these years ago.
Every single meal I've cooked has turned out perfect. Easy to use and clean. People keep asking me " what seasoning did you use on this meal? It's really good". I just keep telling them it's the Signature blend pellets . That's all Folks!
DrCrohn : Poor customer service
Completed the start up procedure per the instruction manual and when I added Traeger pellets to complete the next step the auger would not turn. I had to disassemble the hopper unit and found that the auger motor was missing the nut and bolt that holds the auger to the motor. This ruined the party that I had planned to break in the Traeger. Emailed customer service at Traeger and they replied that they would send me the part out ASAP. Three days later I get an email from Traeger stating that the part has shipped and per the delivery information I will have it in a week.
I think that this is very poor customer service. I paid a lot of money expecting that I would get a superior product and because of poor assembly process I have to go without my new Traeger for a week and a half.
Amazon Customer : DO NOT BUY!
This is my second Trager grill from Amazon. First one worked for two weeks and then would not work anymore. This one I put together, would not fire up from the get-go. They seem to have very poor quality control. Also Amazon customer service is hard to deal with on returns. This item comes in a box that as soon as you open it cannot be used to resend it back because of the way it’s packaged. So they want me to ship back but I I don’t have a box large enough to use the ship back to them. Trying to figure that out it’s been a headache so be aware of these issues if you were to purchase this item.
Cindy L. : Easy to use - easy to assemble
Excellent product…love smoked meat. Pellets are pricey though! And hoping my electric bill doesn’t go up too much since most of the cooking is long and slow! The temperature fluctuated very little - i shaded mine with a large beach umbrella during cooking process rather than having in direct sunlight for so many hours.
Ginger : Mmm, smoked meats
I got the Traeger for my boyfriend for Christmas and what can I say, it’s a Traeger! We used it Christmas day to smoke a pork shoulder. It was amazing as is everything else that we’ve smoked… Brisket, ribs, wings, thighs…
Tim : Love it
Only used it twice cause it is winter but I love the ease of set it and forget it, wish it had a window, also it is very heavy
Tasia : Grill Came Dented - Still Awesome
I'll start by saying I'm a fan of Traeger and their products, my first Traeger is still in great condition after 7 years, and will be going to a friend so they can enjoy the awesomeness that is Traegering. I was happy to come across the Pro 22 for a good price and made the decision to upgrade.
Assembly - easy, two people almost necessary, but if you've got decent upper-body strength you can flip the grill upside down to install the legs and the leg braces. The packing material provided braces the round grill while it is flipped over, which is a wonderful design.
Use - if you've never experienced a grilling/smoking with a Traeger, I highly recommend it...there are many like it, but they simply do not compare.
Shipping/Packing - as I mentioned, the packing material is useful for the install, but it does not serve to protect the grill during shipping. I received the grill and immediately unboxed to begin assembly. There was a large dent on the back of the grill which I can only assume came from shipping. The box did have a portion that was ripped but I didn't think it would have made such a major dent. This dent is about 7" long and is quite unsightly.
I won't be submitting a return for a new grill, but would definitely like to caution others that are more particular with how their grill will arrive. Thankfully the dent appears to be simply cosmetic. I'd like to know what the seller does in these situations, is there a replacement part that can be sent? I'm happy to install myself, but would certainly like to have a new grill that doesn't look like it was purchased from a scratch-and-dent warehouse.
steve : Disappointed
Pellets need constant attention or fire goes out. You have to constantly ensure the pellets are feeding through the grate. They get hung up causing pockets and the smoke stops and temp is shut off. I’ve ruined a few meals before figuring out what was happening. I blamed the pellet moisture, my own actions and even called Traeger who thought I had ash build up, which I did not. I actually returned the last one and now it’s too late for me to return this one. I might as well have bought a stick smoker for the amount of attention this one needs. I think I will try to sell it.
R. Kemble : Grill of my dreams
This is the grill I’ve been waiting for my whole life. Easy to use, great results, great flavor. I could not be happier with it.
russell : I've used it now about 15 times has a few issues.
Works good most of the time . I've had a few times that temp went real low so I had to do a shut down and let it cool off and do a start up again .
Brandon Papais : Buyer beware
First time I used the smoker the temperature would not stay where I set it. I set it to smoke with the lid open and the temperature increased to 250 and was still climbing when I shut it down after 15 minutes. When I called Traeger the “customer service” representative tried to make it my fault. Saying I did something wrong. The second time I called I was told if the service tech wouldn’t come to my house I would have to rent a truck to bring the smoker in to the service center. Not really what I would expect from a company that touts the best warranty and product in the industry There is a lot of other smokers out there. I would seriously consider a different brand and you will save yourself some money too.
john matthews : worked perfect out of the box
put it together in about 30 minutes, followed instructions to prime the pellets and fire it up. did the 1 hour seasoning, and cooked some great bbq chicken. totally pleased!! exceeded my expectations as i've always done charcoal or wood chunk/sticks.
phantomdata : Came banged up, firepot assembly quit after one smoke
It was fine for the one smoke that it survived. Went to start it up for a second one today and the firepot assembly is refusing to light anything or give off heat. How a company can manage to fail at making a reliable auger+firepot that survives more than one $700 use is beyond me. I definitely should not have bought this off of Amazon, where I am unable to return this defective unit.
Update: Amazon actually took it back. I had already assembled it and everything (would've been impossible to get it back into a box without destroying it); contacted an Amazon CSR and within a few days a truck was here with a guy asking "Is this the grill?". Off it whisked back across the country, and they refunded me. Amazing. The product still gets 1-star for not working, but Amazon Support is _amazing_.
buyer10387 : Love it!
My husband had a pit boss smoker that the temperature control went out on less than a year after purchase. So when he wanted a new smoker, we were skeptical as to what to purchase. After learning more about Traeger, we went for it (besides, we had already paid that much for a smoker that could not be used). The traeger has not disappointed us!
Jaclyn Kikkert : Didn’t get to use
Didn’t get to use it. Showed up dented even though the packaging was in perfect condition
Bettie : easy to use, great smoke
What's not to like about the Traeger? The only disappointment is that they used to include a cookbook, and now you have to buy it extra. It is very easy to use.
Avery Magee : Believe the hype people!
This thing is insane! Everything we’ve made has turned out perfect! Highly addictive!!
BRIAN H. : Great grill customer support SUCKS!!!!
So I bought the smoker on 5/1/20. I smoked a rack of rib the first night then the next day I went to smoke a brisket and about 5 hours in the smoked stopped working. I called customer support and waited for a call back for over 2 hours. The guy had me take parts off, screens off and still got no where. He could not help with the issue. I am mechanical so I ended up taking it farther part and found a pin came out. Something that should have a nut and bolt or a cotter pin had some cheap little pin that can just fall right out. I had to go to Home Depot buy a new bolt to fit through there and reassemble it all. So let go a few days forward. I’ve called tech support again from traeger to discuss the issue. I have yet to get a call back after three diffent attempts to contact someone. I am in the customer service business and if I did this my company would no longer be in business. I do love my grill but their customer service is beyond disappointing and for the price you pay a 10 cent design flaw should never happen.
Shawn March : Buy this grill
Takes a little longer to cook, but it’s worth it!! I was sold the instant I tasted a cowboy ribeye from it. Owned a month now and it works perfectly and the taste is amazing
Count Scotula : Great smoker, easy to use, easy to keep temp
This is a great smoker. It works well, keeps temp, looks good, and most of the meat I've smoked has been delicious. I gave it 4 stars because the first one I received was extremely damaged. Returning it was and getting a new one was a terrible hassle even though Amazon went out their way to make it as easy as it could be. The next one arrived in perfect condition, but really they should be shipped in better packed boxes because there isn't much in there to protect them. Assembly is the worst part but its definitely not hard. If you need a smoker this is a great option!
George Su : It finally arrived (late)
Well, it took forever to arrive, but that's the shipping company's fault (including the dents).
Overall it was easy to assemble, easy to operate, easy to clean. Temperature wise, it doesn't look like it can reach past 416 degrees, according to the sensor. I'll need to get a temperature gauge to confirm. I'm satisfied with my purchase.
D : Once it starts to work I’m sure it will be great
I received this put on Monday and started it up Tuesday morning with the intent to set it and forget it. Long story short , the unit will reach the desired temp and immediately start to decline in temp. I contacted traeger and they are sending me another sending unit. I really hope this solves the problem. If it works I’m certain this will be an amazing product. I really hope I don’t have a lemon and I hope to not have to return the pit.
bg : IF you need a grill - THIS IS IT!!!!
Traeger Grill was a replacement for a Weber 3 burner propane grill with a cast iron grilling surface. I did the usual steak, chicken, hamburg, etc. Then the grilling surface started flaking apart, and the "stainless steel" burners were getting corroded and needed replacement, BUT the "stainless steel" mounting screws could not be removed. Besides, the Weber had hot spots & not so hot spots when cooking. Not to mention the grease FLAME UPS during cooking.
The TRAEGER has s small fire box in the bottom middle where the pellets are burned, pellets are fed via an auger (added as needed to maintain desired internal grill temperature). Above fire box is a heavy duty steel sheet for heat distribution, above that is another sheet of steel (on a slight angle) to direct runoff grease into a collection bucket (NO FLAME UPS!!!!). ALSO the cooking surface is a porcelain grill (can you say EASY CLEANUP???)
I have had my Traeger just over a month. I stated with the usual, chicken, steak & hamburgers. A week ago decided to go out on a limb with a saw, we were hosting a birthday party with about 10 guests AND decided to do my first ever SMOKED BRISKET. Well after a nice long slow smoke & cooking (9 hours), the 12# brisket slices could be cut with a fork. After we all ate, guests cut off leftovers to take home, we were left with about a pound.
Yes, the Traeger is expensive, but so is replacing other grills about every 8>10 years. I was looking to buy another propane grill, but after looking at the Traeger and talking to another Traeger owner - I went Traeger. Should have done it YEARS ago!!!! I would give it 10 STARS if I could!!!!!!!!
You can't go wrong getting one for yourself.

Kent S : Cooks the best wings ever!
Have never burned anything ever no matter how long it stayed on.
Linda Nelms : Satisfied
It’s fine the way it is.
Gstef : Great except
The auger stopped working on the second time we cooked on it. We contacted a Traeger evidently it’s been a problem so beware
Justin Ross : Worth every penny!
Excellent product!
I’ve only had for 2 weeks, but have cooked on it every single day. The Temperature is pretty accurate. Floats between -+ 10 degrees. But that’s not bad at all for a pellet smoker. And also depends on the quality of pellets you use.
I just smoked a brisket for 10hours, and the grill did a fantastic job.
Only con is this thing is heavy, but that’s because of quality.
Highly recommend to anyone that enjoys cooking meat.
Customer : Heavy!!!
Just be warned this thing is heavy, really heavy. One hub cap was broken but they are going to send a replacement, temperature is about 20 degrees different than the display, they said that was normal :-/ get you a good wireless thermometer, don't rely on the display
RLH : Works perfectly.
A little difficult to assemble but not bad with 2 people.
deb : Nice product, disappointed that it arrived banged up
The entire frame/base was dented when it arrived. Don't think it will impact use, but disappointing when it was a father's day present to have it all bent.
Bill : I Love My Traeger
I used electric smokers before getting my Traeger. This is easy to assemble but you will want a helping hand with several steps. My baby back ribs are the best we've ever had, anywhere. There is plenty of online help and recipes. The pro 20 series has room for bb chicken and a turkey.
Rod : Just what we wanted
Use it for cooking everything form ribs to biscuits.
Amazon Customer : Awesome so far
My first pellet grill. Easy to assemble and use. Cooked chicken, burgers, brats, shrimp and a standing rib roast. All turned out great. Takes a bit to get used to indirect heating when it comes to brats and burgers. Everything has tasted awesome so far. I lice in the northern part of Wisconsin. Used it at an outdoor temperature of zero degrees without the insulated blankets they have for this grill. Worked well. However I just purchased the insulated blankets to help conserve pellets cooking in the bitter cold.
Ian N Wolter : Buyer beware
Horrible it lasted 5 weeks. I had problems with the temp control and I called costumer service and was sent a new control assembly. Changed it out and still having the same problem. Now I’m past my return window. Waste of A LOT of money!
corice : good
love it, but temperature is under and over by up to 50° every time. Easy to use and food is delicious.
