Deep Water floats come in multiple colors and different offering which include single float, 2-pack floats and combo kit floats. These floats are high-density closed-cell foam design keeps lines afloat. Answer: 1 inch outside pvc pipe but buy 3/4 inch pvc because that is an outside diameter of 1 inch
Answer: 3/4" schedule 20 pvc was a moderate to hard push to get all of the way through is the best answer I could give you. I used them for outriggers on my canoe and they are great for the purpose.

Answer: It's not even possible for them to have more than 8 lbs of bouyancy each. That's based on the volume of the bouy (less than 250 ci) vs a 60lb cubic foot of water (1728ci).
Answer: 50lbs the med.ones ,(the ones most people use ) and the lg ones that I used are good for 75lbs.

Where do you get the large ones rated for 70 pounds?
Answer: As others noted, the buoyancy is a function of water displaced so 70 pounds would require about 1.12 cubic feet of float. These are closer to 0.12 cubic feet so more like a bit less than 8 pounds of floatation. To paraphrase a line from Jaws, you need a bigger float. Much bigger!

Answer: They should, we use them in the northern coast of California ocean waters. We have other floats, just like these, that we have used for the last three years and they show no wear or tear, have held up very well.

Answer: Yes I used mine as Kayak outriggers. There is a hole already drilled through the center that I pushed pvc pipe through. Works great!
Answer: Sure, you can do that. Just bear in mind that if it's going to be catching water or air as the yak moves, over time the float could crumble a bit where there is the greatest combination of impact and cut. You might be able to delay that by putting a little shellac or polyurethane at the drilled/cut areas, but bear in mind that the remainder of the float is smooth but not coated. On balance, I'd say have at it. They're inexpensive, so a little experimentation doesn't bring much risk with it.
Answer: Yes, they can be drilled or cut. They are styrofoam (hard type) with a durable outer coating. Double check the size though - I think you may want larger ones for kayak outriggers.

Answer: Not sure this would work for a paddle, we use them for crab and shrimp pots and thread the line thru the hole in the float.
Answer: You could duck tape it to your paddle; or if the shafts removable it may fit through the hole. But i wouldn't use this for that purpose. Not sure what kind of paddle you are referring to. Wooden paddles float, so it must be an aluminum shaft paddle. Just don't let go of your paddle, or go beyond your level of comfort/safety.
Answer: I’m using them as extra flotation on a narrow flat bottom boat in 40 deg water this passed spring which worked to my satisfaction. I’m sure each is more than adiquate to keep a paddle afloat, assuming a standard paddle.

Answer: As an experienced diver, I suspect the air bubbles in the foam would be compressed and they would collapse to about 1/3 volume. Also, these provide a LOT of floatation; getting the submerged would take a lot of weight.
Answer: It depends on the weight of what you have attached, surface winds and current. These are very good quality and would say yes to normal conditions marking an anchored object down to or beyond 100 feet.

How can i drill holes bigger without ruining them?
Answer: Instead of drilling, you might want to consider heating a rod or pipe and working it against the edges of the existing hole to melt it away and get to a hole the size you want. Solid drill or hole bits could very well shred the foam as the spirals or teeth snag the foam.

I bought this product with full intention of not using it for its intended purpose. As you can see from the photos it was successful. I created a canoe stabilizer with 1/2" galvanized pipe. The holes are slightly larger than 1/2" pipe but 3/4" pipe would have only fit with use of a large hammer and some persuading. There is very little play with the float on 1/2" pipe.
It's still in its early stages of development, but one could make the stabilizer any size they wanted. For better stabilization you should go out further from the canoe, but seeing as the rivers I go on can get very narrow, closer was better for me. I canoe a lot with my dog and with beverages. A few beverage deep and a few miles down river the canoe stability becomes questionable. This provides just enough support to keep me upright. Cheers deep water float. This one's for you.

I have to agree with the other reviews that talk about them being misshapen and poorly constructed. I saw those reviews and bought them anyway thinking I might get lucky. I did not. I could not even get a piece of 1/2 inch PVC through them. If you do not care at all about what they look like or are going to use thin rope through the middle then you will be fine, but if you want to make outriggers for a kayak or canoe I would spend the extra money on a better set.

It is what it is - styrofoam and some sort of paint or dye - but it is not cheapo nor did it appear destined to disintegrate the moment I took it out of the box. Rigged it to my floating dock anchor chains with some floating rope the day I received it, and no issues thus far.

Great buoys for crabbing. Strong exterior foam and coating. Inside hole isnt so wide you have to tie a giant knot to keep the buoy in place. You can get Promars for cheaper if you keep your eye out.

Used these and 3/4 pvc to make outriggers. 2 floats per side then painted with black flex seal. These things work GREAT. Kayak wasn't very stable before, but after it feels like I prolly couldn't flip it no matter what I did. Which is good cause I'm a novice on a kayak and I fish from it, don't need to be leaning too far for a fish and dumping all my stuff into a lake. Thats what I used these for, and was 100% worth it.

I bought two sets of two, which gave me four floats total. These floats were the solution I was looking for to make DIY kayak stabilizers. The hole through the middle of each float was smaller than the 3/4” PVC pipe I planned on using for my kayak stabilizers, so I heated an old shower curtain rod several times and put it into the float until the foam inside the hole melted to the larger diameter I needed. If you want to make pontoon stabilizers for your kayak, these are the floats you need!
