Questions about OUII Sous Vide Bags for Joule and Anova Cookers - 15 Reusable BPA-Free Sous Vide Bags with Vacuum Hand Pump in Various Sizes -Vacuum Sealer Bags Food Storage Freezer Safe - Fits Any Sous Vide Machine
Q:
Why can't I get the pump to work?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: One thing I found it sometimes the opening is too close to the back of the bag which prevents the air from being removed. Try taking pump and clean it to see if there is any blockage. Good luck.
Answer: The pump and the bag have to make a very good connection. I pot the bag on a flat surface, place the pump directly on the gasket on the bag, and eventually do get a good seal and pump the air pot of the bag.
Q:
How do I get oil & smell out of the bag after sous vide cooking?
Answer: Hey there:)
Answer: I use hot water and grease cutting dish soap with sponge. I think Dawn platinum is the best grease-fighting dish detergent that I've used. It smells nice too.
Answer: use baking soda
Q:
(Do these work with the "ziploc" seal machine??)
Answer: No, these bags self-seal using an included sealing tool, no sealing machine required. There is a manual pump that you use after sealing to create a vacuum in the bag.
Answer: I have a hand held pump from Ziploc but they don’t make the bags anymore. Can I use my pump on your bags? Everyone that has one is looking for bags!!
Q:
Can i use these to simply just freeze food?
Answer: Hey ArtsyFartsy,
Q:
if i'm only using to freeze food and not cook is it still only 5 - 10 uses per bag or more?
Answer: I would not use them more than 5-10!!
Answer: That's what I found
Q:
What's the reason for thr 5-10 uses limit? Is it dangerous to go beyond that?
Answer: They may start leaking and vacuum is lost. It won't be dangerous but you may get water leaking into the bag or juices leaking out or both.
Answer: Over time the bags will weaken. The seals will not hold the pressure. Also continued use of heat can tend to make some plastics leach chemicles. It may just be a precaution.
Q:
Why would you want to reuse the bags? Wouldn’t that get cross contamination?
Answer: Hey there:)
Answer: The idea is that you are not constantly using and throwing away plastic bags. As long as you clean appropriately, you shouldn't have to worry about cross contamination. It is the same as washing and reusing your tupperware.
Answer: I wash and dry them for reuse!
Answer: You need to wash them well with soap and water before reyse.
Q:
Can you order additional bags when these have all ended usefulness?
Answer: Hey there:)
Answer: Yes. The bags are similar to the bags used for vacuum sealers. After each use, we rinse them out and put them hot soapy water and wipe them inside and out.
Answer: Yes of course........
Q:
Can I use the bag with liquid?
Answer: Hey there:)
Answer: not intend to use with liquid
Answer: If you only put a small amount in. It can seep out of the air hole if moved around.
Answer: Yes you can.
Q:
Why does the pump not work, and render this kit useless?
Answer: It could be that you didn't have the pump and the hole in the bag aligned properly? I am on my 4th bag, each being reused several times and they have all worked very well!
Answer: Don't know. My husband hasn't been able to get it to work either. ????
Q:
What’s the max. temperature the bags can sustain?
Answer: Hey there:)
Answer: On the instruction manual it says -4F to 185F
Answer: 185F
Q:
I keep gettin water in the bag while cooking. Any advise?
Answer: Joe, It isn’t obvious in the instructions, but you need to use the white clips to hold the top of the bag out of the water. It allows you to hang the bag into the water while keeping the seal zipper dry.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Are you using the little white clip to seal the bag? Run it back and forth across the whole length a couple of times. Use the clips to keep the opening of the bag out of the water.
Answer: I use the clamps that came with these bags, I make sure to clamp the sealed side of the bag up on the side of the container, above the water line to prevent water from getting through the seal. Hope this helps!
Answer: Keep the air hole above the water line with additional space with the clamps. That's what worked for me so far. It took a couple of time. And also pay down your meat, the dryness inside helps as well.
Q:
Can these be used for clothing storage
Answer: I guess they could. They are not very big, so the clothing would have to be small sizes or folded into a very small square shape.
Answer: They're very small for clothing storage. They're designed to fit a steak.
Answer: Bags are pretty small for clothes.
Answer: No They’re not big enough there make sure food storage
Answer: I am sure you could use them fir clothing storage the only problem is they are not really big enough
Q:
Pump doesnt work? even if i put my finger over the hole of the pump and pump it there’s no suction. did i get a bad pump?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: It is difficult to use the pump, but finally I could use it. It is not as user friendly as it should!!!
Q:
Can I use electric handheld sealer instead of included hand pump ?
Answer: Hi there,
Answer: The bags are ziplock, so it negates the need for a sealer. The pump is needed to create the vacuum.
Answer: Yes, I use the one attached to my vacuum sealer
Answer: I think you won’t be able to re use the bag.....
Answer: I do not know for sure, but I would think you could.
Q:
Can you use these sous vide pouches with an Instant Pot?
Answer: I do not know if they can be used with an insta-pot. I do not have an instant pot.
Q:
Can the bags be fully submerged? Are they safe to use under high temperature? Will my food tasty like plastic?
Answer: Hey there:)
Answer: No, the air valve cannot be submerged under water, it was mentioned on the instruction manual & the listing. It say to withstand temperature from -4F to 185F so anything within that range should be fine. I used it couple times for my steaks and lamb chops, no weird taste. They are excellent for sous vide cooking!
Answer: The food will not taste like plastic. The valve should be out of the water!
Answer: Water shouldn’t go over suction hole. 185max
Q:
I’m going on vacation, can I store my bottled shampoo in the bag?
Answer: Of course! I used the bags to store my personal hygiene necessities during my camping trip to Yosemite.
Q:
hi! can I cook with high temperature with these bags?
Answer: Not sure what you mean by high temperature? Keep in mind these bags are designed to be used in water. I used in a sous vide at 150 F. I suspect they would work fine up to boiling point. One other thing to keep in mind is that you need to keep the sealing valve out of the water.
Answer: The box of OUII Sous Vide bags reads:
Q:
Is this kit easy to use?
Answer: Yes, I followed the manual very easy.
Q:
The pump broke the first time I used it. How do I get a replacement?
Answer: I don't know, but I have sealed the bag and sucked the air out before.
Q:
Are these bags BPA free???
Answer: Hey there:)
Answer: The box says its bpa free, food-grade & FDA approved. So I trust the quality.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can I order just the medium size?
Answer: Hey there:)
Q:
How big is the large sous vide bags?
Answer: 4 Liters, about 1 gallon
Q:
Are these silicone bags?
Answer: Hello there,
Answer: Plastic
Answer: No
Q:
Are these dishwasher safe?
Answer: Hey there:)
Answer: they are dishwasher safe cuz I tried. But I prefer hand wash because it’s quicker and cleaner than the dishwasher.
Answer: The instructions specifically state that they cannot go into the dishwasher. I’ll just add that hand washing is pretty easy.
Answer: Hand wash only according to the package inserts. They clean up very easy though
Answer: I believe so.
Q:
Can I use my own vacuum sealer and freezer bags for sous vide?
Answer: Yes! I have a number of items that I used my own bags & vacuum sealer for, then stored in the freezer until I was ready to cook them. (Steaks get seasoned, sealed, and then frozen. I just add an hour to the cook time, and drop them in the water, still frozen.)
Answer: I have never used freezer bags, but if they are heavy duty, they should work. You will want to make sure and get all of the air out or the food will not cook properly. My main concern with a freezer bag is that it will be hard to get a good vacuum. We use a vacuum sealer with bulk vacuum bags that you can cut to the size you need off of a roll. They work great.
Answer: I suppose you can use your own bags/sealer. These bags work great, but the vacuum pump is a challenge to use.
Answer: Yes, but for some recipes you may need a more heavy duty bag; and these are excellent and reusable for a time.
Answer: Yes you can it work just as well
Q:
Can i reuse ouii bags after cooking / storing raw pork or chicken?
Answer: Yes, but you'll need to clean the bags, which is not easy. We turn them inside out and scrub the bags very thoroughly with hot soapy water and a brush, especially along the seams. Then rinse them very well and soak them for 30 minutes in a light disinfectant solution (1/2 teaspoon of bleach in 1 quart of water). Then rinse again. Let dry, then turn them back into their correct shape. Ready to reuse.
Answer: The package said you can reuse them. But we don’t feel that would be safe no matter how well you try to clean the inside. Once there is raw meat in there I feel it is contaminated to use it again. Plus we found they leak a little.
Answer: I have reused my bag in the past after I thoroughly wash and soap them after each use. It works fine as long as you don’t punch a hole on the bag.
Answer: As long as you clean them properly. The bags can be cleaned over and over again. Eventually the vacuum value starts to degrade, but I am still using my initial set (more than 20 uses) and have purchased additional sets for others as gifts. My recipes with turmeric and other strong spices have stained the bags without hindering the performance.
Answer: I wouldn't reuse them. They're cheap. Just throw the bag away after use.
Answer: I have reused the bags. I make sure they are cleaned well after each use
Answer: Yes as long as you wash the bags after you have used them.
Answer: I do. I wash and dry them and use them again.
Q:
Are these bags compatible with Foodsaver vacuum pump?
Answer: I do not have this pump, but as long as it has a small circular opening that you can center over the sealing port of the bag, it should work fine. It will not work with the long bag vacuum sealers products, regardless of brand.
Answer: Hello there,
Q:
I am new to sous vide, is this kit better than vacuum sealer machine?
Answer: Yes, in my opinion this is better for sous vide newbies. It is much cheaper than investing on the sealer machine. Its compact and easy to use. I don’t that the space to store the big machine so this is perfect for my limited cabinet space. BTW you can travel with it, I don’t think you can do that with the vacuum sealer machine.
Answer: No, but this travels well when you’re only spending a few months away from home.
Product reviews of OUII Sous Vide Bags for Joule and Anova Cookers - 15 Reusable BPA-Free Sous Vide Bags with Vacuum Hand Pump in Various Sizes -Vacuum Sealer Bags Food Storage Freezer Safe - Fits Any Sous Vide Machine
Heather Kleinjans : Cool cool
Bought for my mother who lives tiny home style. She absolutely loves these! Said she uses them all the time.
C. Lee : Very difficult and finicky to use
Very difficult and finicky to use. Suction pump does not latch on to the seal easily. A lot of trial and error trying to create suction seal between bags and pump. Save yourself the time and money and just get a vacuum sealer or use the bag submersion method.
Douglas F. Marks : Like them, not sure they're critical
used them maybe a dozen times, seem to work okay (one leaked due to a bad seal by me). I got pretty much just as good a result with a zip-lock bag using the submersion method.
Tim : Air tightness
They work okay…. Seems like when u vacuum seal it, and freeze it air enters the bags some how… maybe a defect valve, idk.
Bob : Not great bags
Pump broke after using two times.i fixed it with a new o ring in pump. And most bags leak air and wont seal. I would not buy again
Felipe Villarreal : Great product, very easy to use and fucntions great
It work as expected, and it is good that you can recycle .
Paul Pang : Convenient and reusable
I like this product, but not being able to fully submerge the bag leads to some uneven cooking with larger portions of food. Otherwise it is a great product and helps prevent waste.
David Springman : Great product
Received everything on time and packaged good. Great product at a great price
Mark : Bags leaked and ruined four meals
These are the worst bag ever! I have used them on four different occasions and they leaked all four times. The bag filled with water from the vacuum hole. When I took the bag out of the sous vide bath and put it on the counter, water came flowing out of the vacuum hole on all the bags. Save yourself the embarrassment of cooking a watered down steak and get a real vacuum sealer system.
Amazon Customer : Great bags!
These bags are great for sous vide. I am just starting out and didn't want to commit to a vacuum sealing machine. They are easy to use and work well.
MB : Great vacuum bags
Very easy to use, and somewhat reusable (if you keep ones for meat, fish and vegetables separate…)
dustin moree : Great and sturdy reusable bags
The bags work great. The seals are airtight, and the bags are sturdy enough to be used over and over again. The pump is a bit of a hassle. You have to line the pump up perfectly with the valve to effectively suck out the air. It takes a bit of trial and error at the start l, but once you find the sweet spot, the air is easily extracted.
Amazon Customer : The Pump Broke
I thought I would like this product. The first time I used it, it was great. Worked perfectly. The third time I used it, the pump broke. Now I am left with a bunch of bags that don't vacuum seal. Don't waste your money. Bags are solid, pump is cheap.
Jocie : Easy to use
The vacuum seal was easy to work once we got the hang of the pump. Bags cleaned up nicely. Definitely a worthwhile purchase and better than just throwing away ziploc bags.
Fred Assaf : Excellent product, easy to use
These Sous Vide bags worked very well -- easy to use and great quality. I will purchase again.
John Parker : They are fine
A little hard to clean and the air pump can be fussy to use
Amazon Customer : Cheap pump, buy one with better pump
The handle to the pump broke on the third bag!! Very cheaply made plastic handle. Bags seem okay, but cannot use as the pump broke.
J. Kobes... : Ok but not great, not cost effective
I was excited to try these bags with my sous vide but quickly found out they're a bit of a pain to use. The pump has to be properly aligned with the valve and pumped many times to achieve good vacuum. The bags themselves are sturdy but the problem is with reusability. If any food contacts the fragile valves, it's game over, throw that bag out or you'll find it leaking the next time you try to reuse it! They are also difficult to clean even if you flip them inside out because one of the sides is textured. I really don't see a big difference between using these bags and regular grocery store brand zip lock bags. Just use the "water displacement" method to get the air out that way and save money.
RainbowGrease : Invest in something better.
I pumped a small bag like 4 times and air keep coming in, not very good bag, invest in a used vacuum sealer from eBay. These bags really suck.
Tam Huynh : Not Reuseable
The product worked fine the first time but after using the bags twice, it doesn’t vacuum seal anymore. The bags are super difficult to clean.
Amazon Customer : Eco Friendly
Reusable
angel : I dont reused the bags
Kind of expensive for one time use, is not that simple to clean it. But overall is good!
I personally don't reuse the bags, there is other brand cheaper than this one. And I bought it to have a back up just in case my vacuum sealed stop working
dustin moree : Great and sturdy reusable bags
The bags work great. The seals are airtight, and the bags are sturdy enough to be used over and over again. The pump is a bit of a hassle. You have to line the pump up perfectly with the valve to effectively suck out the air. It takes a bit of trial and error at the start l, but once you find the sweet spot, the air is easily extracted.
T. Hayes : Failed all functions
Hard to initiate suction. Hard to close. Every on has failed to hold the seal.
Amazon Customer : Cheap pump, buy one with better pump
The handle to the pump broke on the third bag!! Very cheaply made plastic handle. Bags seem okay, but cannot use as the pump broke.
Albert W. : Better off with a vacuum sealer
Pump is hard to use; More of a learning curve to get the pump to work well than I wanted. Still don’t have it down and I have had it for a long time. Leaks; Has not kept 100% of the water out of the bag anytime cooking when fully submerged. I suppose if the pump on the bag was not submerged, it would be fine, but sometimes (most of the time in my case) that is not possible with the positioning of the of bag relevant to where the suction pump is. I had to invest in a vacuum sealer and will never go back.
Subongkoch Chantaburanun : Horrible.
This thing sucks. 1000 pumps and you've done nothing. The pump is flimsy, doesn't suction any air out of the bags unless you're hitting some magic spot that you find 1001 pumps into the task. Horrible horrible!
Subongkoch Chantaburanun : Horrible.

Michelle Stiansen : Great product!!
Very user friendly! Great quality, great customer service and fast shipping. Thanks for making my first Sous vide experience a success ????
Amy : Inexpensive and easy to use!
My husband loves these bags, inexpensive and easy to use for our sou vide.
Ryan Nunn : Buy a Vacuum Sealer Instead.
Absolute trash. The pump o-ring wears out and is unusable after a month. The bag vents fail after one or two uses. Save yourself the trouble and money and buy a vacuum sealer. These bags are a waste of money and time.
EdieEdie : Top of theChristmas list
My son in law asked for this sous vide "kit" for Christmas. I have no clue how it works but he researches everything and this was at the top of his list. He will be excited when he opens it Christmas morning.
Mikey : It works really great!
I got these because i bought the device for the Sous Vide. So far it's GREAT! The only "minor" is the suction is at the beginning you really have to pump.
Amazon Customer : So easy
I had never used my sous vide system before. I had been told that Zip-loc bags did not always seal and could leak. I made my very first sous vide meal--a beef tenderloin using these bags. They sealed and the vacuum removed all the excess air!! The meal was a hit!!
Kathy : Not reusable
These bags are not reusable. They are good for pulling a vacuum and getting all of the air out. However, do not expect to use them a second time. I tried to wash it but it still smell like the pork that I cooked in it and it still feels greasy. I even washed them a second time but still smells. Only good for single use
Deborah Perez : Awesome
I have found this to be the best way to cook in my sous Vide. So easy that my 12 year usually does the meat for me and then I prepare all the sides when I get home from work!
E. A. K : Yes and no
I like the thickness and quality of bags, but remember do not let the air valve go under the water. It will fill you bag with unwanted circulation water. Yuk. Not to mention your poor sous vide machine will need a good cleaning. The suction tool is not the easiest to get lined up, so it takes many frustrating tries. The video was the product not acting up like usual. It usually takes minutes to suck all air out. Remember the air valve and tool have to be perfectly aligned to work. Over all. I like it except for the hand tool not being user friendly.
Nellemia : Easy to use
Great vacuum seal product and easy to use
Robin L. : Worked great and the price is right!
I bought these OUII bags for use with my new sous vide machine. They work great -- vacuum sealed the chicken with no leaks, and no need for a bulky, expensive vacuum sealer machine. The bags are reusable, too, so less plastic waste.
Albert W. : Better off with a vacuum sealer

Bobby W. : Makes Sous Vide Cooking Even Easier!
this is a great item to have, if you do sous vide cooking. bags are a good size, heavy duty, and have a great seal. takes a little work to use the pump, but it does a good job. i like using these bags more, compared to a standard ziploc bag.
mike66442 : Great quality
I am very happy with the vac bags, they work better than I suspected. Will order more in the future
Tdubz : As expected from China
Great for the price, sometimes you get a bad zipper seal but for the price its worth it. Definitely buy again.
Ray : nice and easy to use
it's easy to use.The steaks came out perfectly.great quality will buy it again
Travis Dickerson : Great product
Very good product to get if you don't want to pay the 3 times higher price for vacuum seal machine. THis takes up less room, works very easily, usually just 3-4 pumps before all air is out. A solid buy.
Michael D. : Small Business Leading the Way
Awesome product better than described. Shopping with a small family business with great support is always best value. Look forward to dealing with this business again.
Timothy : Great product! Great customer service!
These were a breeze to use! First time to use these bags or cook sous vide style. I had no hangups or issues. Everything worked as expected.
Bacarri : Stay away if you plan on using for sous vide
These bags do not stay sealed. While cooking with my sous vide water will fill up the bag ruining my meal. This product is a do not buy!
you can compare the product price from Costco, wayfair, bestbuy, lowes, target, homedepot, Walmart, ebay, amazon to find the best price for you
