Questions about GERYON Vacuum Sealer, Automatic Food Sealer Machine with Starter Bags & Roll for Food Savers and Sous Vide, Black
Q:
how many bags can you seal before it needs a break from becoming too hot?
Answer: I have been vacuum sealing bags for 8 years before my sealer lock down clamp broke. I used this one for about an hour and tried about 16 vacs and seals. I returned it immediately.
Answer: It needs 40 sec rest between each seal
Answer: IDK.
Q:
It will only work with both side texture bags?
Answer: The best performace with both side texture bags, One side texture is also accept, but maybe need seal more than once
Answer: No I have sealed store bought chip bags with it. It seals everything. It is truly amazing.
Answer: Works best with both side textured.

Answer: The time used to seal the bag would depend on the size and contents of the bag. Vacuum/Suction Strength is 12L/min. It usually take 6 ~10 seconds for only sealing process

Answer: Yes, it has separate vacuum and seal buttons.

Q:
Will it be harmful to the sealer if some water goes into the vacuum chamber?
Answer: We found if liquid gets sucked up to the sealing point, you don’t get a good seal.
Answer: It will affect the machine function, please do not vacuum seal liquids or moisture directly,
Q:
What's the difference between the bags and the roll?
Answer: Seriously? The bags are pre-cut and measure 10" L x 7" W of effective use as you have to account for the seal at one end, and after you spoon in the food item, you have to seal it 2.5" from the end of the bag. The roll is a continuous length of bag material which you can cut to length, fill and then seal. They give you some "starter" bags and a small roll. You can go online and buy bags or rolls of different lengths to meet your needs.
Answer: The bags are a predetermined size already sealed at one end. You only have to vacuum and seal one end. The roll, you have to cut off the length of the bag to the size you want, seal the one end before you load it, and then vacuum and seal the other end.
Answer: The bags are a predetermined size and come closed on the sides and bottom. You just fill the bag and seal the top. The roll allows you to make a bag to your specific size requirements.
Answer: The bags are closed on one end and you use the machine to seal up the open end once you put your food or whatever inside. The roll is open on both ends. You cut the length that you want and seal on end to make a bag. Just make sure you seal the one end before you fill it :)
Answer: The rolls are made of same material, you just seal both ends. You can make the bag as long or short as you want
Answer: Bags come with just one side that needs to be sealed, but bags made from the rolls can be cut to desired size and need to be sealed on two sides.
Answer: They are the same thing except that the bags are pre cut and the roll you have to cut yourself
Q:
Wiil it work with the food saver jar sealers?
Answer: I don’t think so
Answer: I really have no clue on that one.......
Q:
Wiil it work with the food saver jar sealers?
Answer: I don’t think so
Answer: I really have no clue on that one.......
Q:
what is the voltage?
Answer: Standard US voltage -- 110VAC.
Answer: According to the side of the box - 110-120V
Q:
How can it create a low vacuum for soft foods?
Answer: In the middle of vacuuming, hit the stop button, then immediately hit the seal button. You may get a little air that seaps back into the bag before it's done with the 'seal' cycle, but nothing you can do about that. If a low vacuum for soft foods is important to you, buy a different machine with that particular feature. There's plenty of them out there, and the price difference is nominal.
Q:
Am I supposed to freeze food before sealing?
Answer: You can seal fresh fruits and vegetables, meats even prepared foods without prior freezing. You really want to remove all air before freezing as this will help to preserve the quality of the food.
Answer: No you do not have to freeze food before sealing.
Answer: No. I have sealed frozen food but it isn’t necessary.
Answer: I have not. I will say that broccoli and cauliflower I Blanche before freezing. Proteins- no I bring them home from the grocery and immediately freeze in the bag
Answer: no! The vacuumed bag contacts the food and protects against freezer burn! Make sure you follow the direction so the food looks like it has been laminated?
Answer: No but I guess you could. But why?
Q:
can you hook up the small hose and round top for canning?
Answer: Doubt it
Q:
Is this machine easy to clean after using?
Answer: I recently bought this machine and have used it several times to both vacuum & seal, and to just seal. I let it cool down a few minutes once I am done and wipe it with a paper towel. I have only had it a short time, but so far I love it! I hope my answer helps.
Answer: No mess. There is a little dish area when you vacuum seal.
Q:
Can you seal left overs, like mac n' cheese, casseroles, spaghetti sauce?
Answer: Yes if it seals good I sent mine back for a refund it stopped vaccumm Sealing!!!
Answer: Yes you can. Sauce maybe a little challenge
Answer: I have only used it for meat. I see no reason why it won’t work with items you mentioned.
Q:
dose the machine store the roll vacume bages
Answer: No, it does not store the vacuum bags roll. You have detach and/or cut the size of the bag you want to use.

Answer: No
Answer: No

Q:

Answer: Did my see why mot
Q:
It seems like all of the air is getting vacuumed out of the bag, but the next day air is back in. Can someone help?
Answer: It sounds like you haven't sufficiently sealed bag. Try pressing the top clamp down as you seal your bag. I found this helps seal the bag better.
Answer: Lining up the bag to the vacuum line is critical. The bag must be square to the device to get a good seal. Also, you must wait for both vac. and seal lights go out.
Answer: Seal the bag a second time. Maybe it wasn't hot enough to completely seal the bag. I usually wait an extra minute or so before starting to seal. Let's the machine warm up.
Q:
i live in a small town of 1,500. the only store we have is a walmart. can i buy the bags at walmart?
Answer: Yes. We have used the FoodSaver brand of vacuum seal rolls with excellent results.
Q:
Will this easily seal a bag with marinating liquids in it? I had to return another model because it couldn't do it.
Answer: I haven't tried sealing liquids, yet, but I can imagine it being a very messy process. The machine sucks the air out as it seals, so I could imagine some of the fluid being sucked out too. Maybe a different buyer has tried it. We only use it to seal dry goods.
Answer: If any liquid is trapped beneath the sealing mechanism, the bag won't seal. You can stop the vacuum early and seal, or just seal it without removing the air, so it's possible but not easy
Answer: It will suck the liquid into the vacuum. It has directions to freeze it before you seal it for items with lots of liquid.
Answer: no, it will not seal anything with liquids. I tried sealing corn from the cob and it was too much for it to seal properly.
Answer: I saw someone suggest freezing the liquid before sealing. Sounds logical to me.
Product reviews of GERYON Vacuum Sealer, Automatic Food Sealer Machine with Starter Bags & Roll for Food Savers and Sous Vide, Black
Jay Gorman : Wasn't sure what to expect, but so far happy with the product
I had been looking for a food sealer for a while, and with so many choices it was not easy to pick one. After comparing lots of online reviews from multiple places, this one seemed to check off most boxes for positive reviews, cost, and ease of use. It does a great job with a few caveats I found out by reading the manual and actually using it. 1. When sealing chicken breasts, freeze them for a few hours first until there is no juices in the bag. Otherwise the suction and seal will not work that great.
2. Leave more space in the bags than you thought you needed for better seal and suction
3. If some juices do seep into the seal line and you do not get the seal you wanted, I add a second seal just above that and it works
4. Out of the "presized" bags that came with the unit. I left one unused. I use that one to size and cut the bags from the roll so I can quickly get the same size bag I need
Overall I am happy with the product so far and would recommend it
Dee Devon : Great suction!
When I first tried this food saver, I was disappointed until I took more time to get things lined up right. It is a nifty little gadget! I have frozen green beans, corn, meatballs. I use it to refrigerate cheese and deli meats. I also just used it to seal my grandma’s silver serving spoons and forks after polishing them. I plan to seal some important papers and pictures to store. I know there are more uses for this little sealer machine!
JusThinkin : This works very well.
Works very well. I purchased one about a year ago (not this style /brand) that was not nearly as easy to operate. I only paid $25 for it so I was not too upset when it stopped working properly. This one works much better and appears to be much better quality. I have used it once and can tell that I will like this one much better. I only use this item for steaks and cut up seasonings. (Onions, green onions, parsley, etc.)
W. Wright : Don't waste your money
I had been looking to purchase a vacuum sealer for a while. I had looked at several options on Amazon. When I saw that this particular food vacuum was "Amazon Choice", I thought it would be great. Generally, I've found "Amazon Choice" items to be very good.
Not this.
It worked great the first couple of times, but after a week, I started having issues. Now it no longer seals completely and the vacuum is hit or miss - mostly miss. I've tried several brands of bags, made sure I was following the instructions, and have had the same unsuccessful attempts with each brand. You could say this vacuum sealer really does suck.
So don't waste your money with this sealer. Sometimes, you really do get what you pay for.
A. Raymond : Threw it out!
I've had this for a year now. It replaced a FoodSaver that had worked well for years. This never did that great a job. It only did a lasting seal about 75% of the time. I froze some half chickens earlier this week. I got a good seal on all of them but when I checked them a few days later it hadn't held on any of them. The bags were still sealed but not tightly. I finally threw it out and ordered a FoodSaver. It costs a little more but I know will work every time I use it.
Force Quitter : A very useful appliance
I bought this item because I like to buy berries and freeze them to use in smoothies. I've been buying them already frozen at my farmer's market for $5/bag. I also buy lots of fish -- tuna, salmon, halibut, steelhead -- and freeze it for later use. A friend recommended this product, so I bought it. I had a little trouble figuring out the correct placement of the bag mouth "in the vacuum chamber", but one look at the YouTube video of someone using the machine solved the mystery and I am happily vacuum-sealing and freezing fruit and fish. I'm also saving a bundle of money over buying pre-frozen fruit!
Kindle Customer : Complete garbage
This machine worked for about two packing sessions then stopped vacuuming. As I live overseas, I don't have the option to send it back. It isn't even useful for sealing bags without a vacuum, the sealing function is very weak. There are better cheap sealers around, avoid this one at all costs.
Dana : 3 months and going strong
I've probably sealed 100 bags with this so far and once you figure out how to use it correctly it works great.
It uses heat to seal so keep the bag end clean before trying to seal, food or excess juices will keep it from sealing properly. Don't try to run a dozen bags back to back, the heating element needs a bit of time to cool down. Clean the inside of the unit if food/juices are getting in the collection tray and when you are done let it cool down and clean the sealing portion as well.
If a bag doesn't properly seal you can try moving the bag out a big and sealing again 1/2" above where you tried before or cut off the bad seal, clean the inside surface of the bag if not clean and dry and try again.
As for the clips, you need to firmly press down evenly on both sides at the same time until you hear two clicks and when unfastening push both releases at the same time.
My unit has already more than paid for itself, my wife cooks big platters of lasagna and half gets tossed out because we don't want leftover lasagna every night. Put the leftovers in 2 serving portions in bags, into the deep freezer and month later it is reheated and tastes great. Being able to buy meat on sale and freeze is also a big money saver and saves you time as well if you can cut your trips to the grocery store.
Just use a Sharpie to write the date on the bags after you fill them so you can rotate through the food in your freezer.
Nice unit for the price, no need to pay 2-10x as much, this gets the job done great
happy Mum : Good vacuum sealer with decent price tag
My old vacuum sealer (another brand, got it as a gift) sealing part broke multiple times and finally it can't be fixed. Even thought the machine part works, I was not happy with it so I ordered this one as replacement. I have to say it is easy to use and the sealing part is better made than lots of other brands that I came across. I found one that is even better than this one but great sealer comes with a heavy price tag, over $150. So this one is my second choice and am very pleased with my purchase. It works and easy to clean. I notice the suction part is not very strong. It takes just a few seconds more than my old one. I don't mind that much since it works and it is way cheaper than lots of out there with poorly made sealing part. Look for a good sealing if you are looking for a sealer.
Update:4/29/2021 - a year+ later and it is still going strong. The sealer never gives me any issue at all. I definitely recommend it for someone who needs it vacuum sealer occasionally, not daily usage since the suction part is not that strong.
Tania : no good
Worked pretty well the first time. The second bag I thought maybe because the bag was wet inside it didn't suck as well. So the third and 4th bags I wiped the inside after putting the chicken in and it did a lousy job sucking the air out. I even double checked to make sure I had it in the right area. It went back to Amazon.
Raveer : Easy to Set Suction Amount Without Settings
Before I got this vacuum sealer, I had a heat sealer as well as one other vacuum + heat sealer. This one definitely wins on both the others for ease of use, and most importantly, the variable level of suction you can apply to the sealing bags. When I go camping, I prefer the toughness and compact fit of vacuum bags for my trail mixes and meats, but you definitely don't want to compress your trail treats as much as stew meat bits. This sealer doesn't have options for which setting you would like, but it runs slow enough to pause when the pressure is just right. My old vacuum sealer would pull air so fast that any raisins would be crushed and hard by the time I pressed the stop button, and the heat sealer I used to use would sometimes overheat if idle while plugged in which would melt the plastic seal off, causing the bag to break open if bumped too much. None of those problems exist here. If there was one thing I'd like, it's for a heavier lid or easier closing system (sometimes I have to elbow- or chin-check it closed for it to clasp properly while holding a bag with lighter ingredients.)
4.5/5, would buy again.
Amazon Customer : Revised Title: Don't get this to partially vacuum soft foods like cookies, cake or bread. It cannot do a partial vacuum!
Revised Review: When I press the 'seal' button.I see that the air is being sucked out of the bag, --- To freeze fresh-baked cookies & cake, I press 'vacuum' to partially vacuum out the air. At the right moment, I press 'stop'. (the partial vacuum is still present.) I then press 'seal' only but it vacuums out the remaining air, crushing the cookies... and then seals. ???? ☹️ ????
........The vacuum motor runs even when only the "seal" button is pressed!
Original Review: What is not to like? It does everything it is supposed to do, it is solidly built, and the vacuum is perfect. I should have bought two...the extra one to give away as a present. Don't hesitate to buy it! ????????????
Liam's Mom : Great for my overflowing garden!
I bought this because my garden is overflowing with zucchini, squash, peppers, and tomatoes.
Instead of giving all the surplus away as I have done in previous years, I decided to freeze it for use later in the winter.
This works great!
Easy to use, packages up my veggies with minimal effort.
I can make custom size bags- single serve vs multiple, which is great for me since I live alone and don’t really care for leftovers.
I can even store non food items in the bags.
Great item and would definitely recommend!
And- this brand has the highest Consumer Ratings which is always something that I look for when buying electronics.
Tintale : A quality product!
I bought this vacuum sealer to replace a large foodsaver. Primarily we use this for fish and game. In reading the instructions I found some other great ideas for its use.
The dealer is easy to use with detailed instructions. As with previous reviews, I will suggest you allow a wait time after sealing for the item and sealer to cool before proceeding to next item. It finished products were well sealed and held its vacuum perfectly.
The machine itself is compact and easy to store. The instructions explained which bags are to be used in the machine but I've not yet tried other than what came with the machine.
Overall I'm very pleased with the machine and it was a great price.
Elizabeth G : Right Price, Right Product
I bought this Geryon vacuum sealer because it was the only one in my price range that Consumer Reports recommends. It arrived sooner than I would have expected. Today, I got around to trying it for the first time, and it was a cinch to use. The only tricky thing is that you need to coax the open lid of your bag to settle into the vacuum zone. To do this, just put the bag mostly in place and hold it as flat as you can. Then bring the top of the sealer down most of the way and flatten the bag again before snapping the lid closed. This isn't hard; it just takes a little patience and mindfulness. Operating the machine was super easy after that. Push the "vacuum seal" button, watch the little bugger do its magic, and wait for the light to go off.
My photo shows my very first effort to use the machine -- a vacuum sealed bag of dehydrated apple chips, perfect for our upcoming backcountry camping trip.
R. Clarke : Light compact user friendly
I just unboxed the sealer from Geryon. The package came secure. It was wrapped in plastic with place holders then placed in its branded box. Easy to u box. Simple buttons to guide you on what you want to do whether seal or do a vacuum seal. The seal function works on pretty much any type plastic. There are 2 locking clips that hold the bag in place. That's a good feature allows you to set it. Lock. Seal it and a light will appear once the operation is complete. Easy peasey. Great price too. Be aware there are a lot of plastic parts so don't go banging it around as something will give. Overall, so far real good
Steve C : Great sealer, like the flexibility of the roll bag
I began using sous-vide for steaks and salmon last year, but always had trouble with the ziploc bag leaking. More recently, I bought some frozen food for my pets that I want to last a year, but I was worried about freeze burns. So I decided to give this a try, since it was so affordable.
So far, I have been very happy with the purchase. My bags have remained sealed in the freezer. I have not yet tried it with sous-vide, but I have no doubt it will work great.
One thing I didn't realize initially was that vacuum sealing takes a lot longer than I anticipated. Even after it looks like the vacuuming is done, it continues to whirl before sealing; I think it took close to/over a minute before it completed vacuum sealing a small bag. Regardless, it was automatic, so I just had to wait until it was done.
Overall, very happy with the purchase!
Overall I am happy with the product so far and would recommend it
Laura P. : Works Well With Sealer Bags
UPDATE 7/23/2020: After some research, I learned this problem could be caused by dirty gaskets, so I removed them, rinsed them with water and reinserted. Works like a charm! They do sell replacement gaskets, but they are a different shape than the ones on this machine, so I don't know if they would work. But I am back in business and still happy with this machine!
UPDATE 7/5/2020: 2 years and about 600 sealed bags later, the machine no longer automatically seals after vacuuming. It will just keep sucking. You can manually press the seal button and it will seal, but you will lose most of the vacuum. I still have to research and troubleshoot, and will update again if I find anything helpful. Sadly, the price has now just about doubled, so I will be looking for a different sealer if I can't get this one to work. It had a pretty good run, though.
This works great with the bags that are included. They also tell you what kind of bags will work if you want to buy another brand, but I have not tried anything than what came with the sealer. It is easy to use and quick. The seal seems solid and the vacuum works well. However, I have not had much luck sealing bags other than those designed for the machine (like chip bags), I don't know if the bags are too wrinkled or what, but the seal is often incomplete in the middle. Hopefully as I get used to how the machine works, I will have better luck with other types of bags. I would definitely recommend this machine, though, as it is does exactly what I bought it for (vacuum sealing meat for freezing) at a great price.
William R. : Loving my vacuum sealer
First off, let me say that I love this vacuum sealer...it inexpensive and works well.
I do a lot of sous vide cooking, and prep my meats well in advance, either seasoning sealing and freezing, or refrigeratoring awaiting the meal prep.
Things not to do:
1. Do not add any liquid to the bag, this results in a non-sealing mess. The liquid always finds it way to the top and interferes with the sealing process
2. Do not try to vacuum seal dry pasta in only the bag....crushes it like a grape! The vacuum pull is strong
3. Pay attention to the bags you order on Amazon. While you would think all bags are the same...they are not, I have $20 bucks of worthless bags that won't seal with this unit. Only buy their bags, they work great, and are the same price.
If you find it necessary to seal a liquid, aka marinade with your meat. Freeze the contents before sealing....this works fine, its now my lesson( relearned every few weeks!)
It's a quick, easy and very handy tool....I recommend this unit
Lindsey L : Small and convenient
Super affordable and compact size for small jobs. I used this to seal some cookies for mailing overseas and it worked great. I double seal the end to make sure it’s extra sealed, but it looks fine even without it. Make sure to flatten the bag well against the sealing strip so there are no folds. It is loud, but so was my food saver machine that was 4x the size. This is super compact and can be stored in a drawer, making it way easier to use for small quick jobs.
Beemaster : Not much bigger than a roll of plastic wrap
I’ll start with the size, because counterspace is always an issue for us. This incredible money saving machine will literally make you take advantage of supermarket sales while easily stowed anywhere if not left on the countertop for ease-of-use.
Many years ago we purchased a vacuum sealer, the unit was pricy and the bags were out of this world crazy expensive. Not anymore! This $40 unit handles 11 inch bags and 8 inch bags either rolls or cut bags and does a great job at it.
We now take advantage of sales on all meats and anything else we wish to shop for that will either go in the freezer or fridge for extended time. We have a limited freezer space with a side-by-side fridge and found a really neat tip to share: we use old shoeboxes to slide easily in and out of the freezer with vertically stacked meat inside each box, so every shelf has a shoebox full of nicely assessable frozen food Which we prep our self and vacuum within seconds. Then using a sharpie right directly on the bag what’s inside how many or how many Or weight of the meat inside. The shoebox thing really works out wonderful, because stacking these bags in the fridge can be a nuisance and handling the bags all the time can crack the best bags if pulled and shoved around the freezer.
Now I am creating meals to take to work by freezing servings of mashed potatoes and veggies and meats on parchment paper in the freezer than inserting them in the bags for final sealing. The only warning I would give is you can’t handle excessively wet food in the vacuum sealer, it will suck the liquids up into the vacuum chamber andThat’s just a mess. So the cure to this, is to freeze things like chili or soups or whatever has a large amount of liquid prior, and then placing in the bag for the final seal. This process is well worth it and again when money is an issue by a family size pack of ground meat separated into 1 pound portions and freeze each bag so that you can just take out what you need each time. Even form burgers, let the bag thaw in cold water in 30 minutes for a great fast meal.
Ease-of-use is very simple. Just Place the bag as instructed and off it goes to seal extremely tight almost anything that you could put in there. Expect to double and triple the lifespan of your food with no freezer burn or freezer taste ever again. We use the 50 foot rolls both 8 inch wide and 11 inch wide (50 foot roll together only runs around $17). this allows you to freeze anything whether only a few inches tall or feet tall if you want long as it can fit in the fridge or freezer, you have a lot of choice in length of bag, the pre-cut bags quart size and other just aren’t that flexible for most of our needs and I believe yours too.
So the low profile, which is really about the size of two boxes of plastic wrap one behind the other and it does the work of a machine 10 times its size. Oh, that is not an exaggeration either it’s a remarkable slim and compact machine.
So glad that I ordered this, when my wife saw on the box that it was A vacuum sealer she told me she wish I hadn’t bought it and one day later she’s coming home with bulk food and stocked the freezer up in a very organized way.
I don’t know about other machines this size, but this one is a real winner and if it doesn’t meet your needs, Just send it back. But it surely does meet ours, if this one broke, I would buy The exact same unit, it is that cool to work with.
Hope this helps in your decision, it’s one of the best purchases this year and continues to earn it’s keep practically every day. And remember, a vacuum sealer does a lot more than just prep things for the fridge and freezer: anything you need to protect from water or the weather or pack to keep
Fresh veggies and fruits of Coors and even a wallet a watch or anything when camping etc. I even placed a series of coins I collect and they stay exactly as I place them: literally I can hang them on the wall for display.
It comes with some sample bags included but buy yourself that combo package of eight and 11 inch heavy duty bags for $17 and go to work changing how are you safe and protect food forever.
Rob : It works! Buy it...but buy other sealing bags.
I purchased this for a hunting trip, mainly. I’ve never used one before and it was a little learning curve, mainly on my novice experience.
The vacuum roll that comes with the sealer...suck. They do not seal the first time, I’ve had to seal the bags two or three times before the seal takes. If you buy this sealer, buy these bags, they work on the first seal (I think if I didn’t buy the rolls along with the sealer, I probably wouldn’t of kept the sealer): Nutri-Lock Vacuum Sealer Bags. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LCKD5QW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_adJ-EbKZ952KG
Sealing a liquid item? Freeze it first. I learned that the hard way. Sealing meat with juices (yes, blood)? use a paper towel rolled up between the meat and the seal.
The sealer works. Cleans up easily. I’ve learn to listen to the sealer as when it changes pitches, I know it is vacuuming correctly. When it is continuously running the vacuum but will not seal, that is because the end of the bag is not in place correctly. Readjust, try again.
It is simple, three buttons and does what it is suppose to do. I’ve used it on a regular basis and other than learning how to use it correctly, it has worked great. Buy better quality vacuum rolls and you will not be disappointed.
rg : Works very fast
My dad's old vacuum sealer was going out, so I decided to surprise him with a new one. His old one would take between 30 seconds and a minute to vacuum, then another 15 seconds to seal. It worked, but he said it was just too slow. He was super excited to get this one, and noticed a difference right away. He was able to make his own bags without any problems. He actually said this one works twice as fast as his old one. He recently got some venison from a next-door neighbor, and was able to vacuum and seal the entire box of venison in less than an hour. The other thing he likes is the fact that it is extra wide. he also said that because he is able to vacuum all the air out, he is not worried about freezer burn at all. Since my dad likes it, and he's very happy with it, I would say that's a win. Plus, he is able to save a good bit of money vacuum sealing all the meat, and doesn't have to worry about any going to waste.
Nicole Del Sesto : Buyer Beware - reviewers offered free bags.
I bought this machine because of all the great reviews (and obviously the price) but when I received the machine there was a bribe included - write a good review and get free bags. So I feel like I bought this machine under false pretenses.
This was purchased to go with a sous vide machine to get a good vacuum seal. I don't feel it accomplishes that. I sealed 5 steaks, 2 had air bubbles and 1 got water in it. One floated to the top so often I took it out of the water bath and put it in a ziploc bag and got the air out using water displacement method.
If you watch videos of chefs using sous vide, most of them are using ziploc bags. If the chefs are using it that way, I think that works for me. I waited too late to return this but if I could still return it I would. I really don't think it's fair to promise people free accessories for good reviews.
Erin S : Easy to Use, Best for Dry Foods Only
This is my first food vacuum sealer purchase, and overall I am very satisfied. It is very user-friendly, I found that watching the instruction video was beneficial and made the instructions very clear.
Pros:
Easy to use, does what it is supposed to do. The bags that come with it seem durable. I like that you can seal other plastic bags if you don’t want or need to remove the air first.
Cons:
Sometimes it is difficult to line up the bag where it is supposed to be and then close it. I had to end up doing it “one-handed” in order for the bag to stay where it needed to be and not have it move when I clamped the lid down.
I learned that any moisture getting in the way will prevent the sealing mechanism entirely. The STOP button helps so you can “pause” and seal early without sucking up liquids, but I wouldn’t recommend this product to someone who intends to vacuum-seal items with liquid in them.
Eclipesbigdog : Good price, Easy to use, Fast shipped!
Once we followed the directions we were very pleased with the appliance. When vacuum sealing meats placing a paper towel under it is important (as in the directions?). A good kitchen scale is helpful in bagging ground beef also finding a Tupperware container that will help with the molding is very helpful! Lidl had a BOGO sale on Ground Chuck and I put up 12 pounds in 1 pound units last night. Placing packages on a baking tray allows for nice flat freezing of units(remove tray after initial freezing). I also took advantage of FL's $1.48 sale of Pork Loin with many boneless chops (9 pounds). Beats the heck out of plastic freezer bags? Good price, quick delivery, easy to use! Order now and start saving real soon! This thing works!
Michael W. : Sous Vide and more
I've been going crazy now sealing everything I can, even opening bags to reseal. At first I thought the machine wasn't working properly but then I realized it was user error. I would vac/seal an item and the seal wouldn't take for some reason. I ended up realizing that I was stopping it short. Once I push vac/seal I just wait, the light will go on/off and then the seal will go on/off. Once it goes off then it is done. Now that I do that I haven't had any issues.
If you do a full vac/seal of something soft i.e. bread then expect it to be squished. Instead, vac/seal to your liking, press stop, and then seal. Simple. I did that with a Costco croissant, the others went bad with 3-4 days of opening. The one I sealed lasted nearly 11 days.
However, I bought this to use with a Sous Vide and it works perfectly.
Lastly, it may not be a 5 star machine but I would give it 4 1/2.
JF's Prime Time : Best upgrade I've made so far.
I bought this back in October because I wanted a 'hands free' sealer to replace my old one that was not hands-free. I always dreaded doing sealing because of the sheer time and effort required- measuring bags, cutting bags, sealing bags, filling bags and then vacuum sealing. Ughh. Then I got this and used it for the first time last night to seal a huge amount of chicken and then used it again tonight to seal up some beef and pork. If you buy 'pre-made' bags as I did, its a must have. Its so much more convenient than the old one that I had.
I like how small and lightweight it is, my old was heavy and bulky yet sealed the same sizes. I also like how it has two separate function buttons, one to seal and one to vacuum seal. My old one didn't have that feature. All in all, the price is great, the quality is great so you can't go wrong.
Thomas R. : With soft items BE READY TO HIT the "STOP BUTTON" !
For bread or cookies as part of an item you want to seal, "REALLY BE READY to "STOP" the air removal just as the item begins to squash. The first time it will be a surprise even though you did READ about it in the instructions.
I was sealing an extra hamburger sandwich -- just thinking about the meat portion -- when the bun began to squash. But I recovered and stopped it while the sandwich with lettuce/tomato/onion/bun still looked fine. It was great the next day.

MarkG : Not worth the money
I bought this a few months ago and was using it sporadically. It worked pretty well for the first 10 or so vacuum seals. I keep trying it, then putting it away, hoping it will miraculously get better. Of course it doesn’t. The vacuum seal never stops. I let it run for almost 5 minutes before giving up and hitting the seal button. Needless to say, the bag then slowly begins to refill with air. I have tried vacuum sealing all types of different food, with different size bags, and it just doesn’t work. Yes, I use textured bags. It’s good for sealing only. Bottom line for me is that this item actually “sucks” and not the way it should. Not sure if a higher price model will work better.
semple : Wouldn't recommend or buy again...
**UPDATE**
The product gets 2 stars, upgraded from 1.
Maybe 2.5 stars, at the most, and that's being generous. But ou'll have go with a different bag manufacturer (FoodSaver bags are highly suggested) because the bags that come with it, and being sold to replenish, are JUNK !!!
Almost a 100% failure rate, varying from days to weeks. The FoodSaver bags work much better, although there's still about a 10% failure rate.
My original comment:
I bought this to seal up stuff I buy or make in bulk, to freeze and keep fresh, or seal up dehydrated food for backpacking meals that shouldn't require refrigeration. From my experience, I simply can't trust this device. 4 out of 5 bags I tried to seal didn't hold, and 100% of the 'cut to length' bags failed. I'd consider returning this for a higher quality sealer, but that isn't an option anymore... the Return Date has expired. So I'll just try to make the best of this purchase.
BAH : Great product
This is the first vacuum sealer machine I have purchased or used. It is very easy to use and I will be using it ALOT in future. I have used it during the processing of a recently harvested deer, and it worked wonderfully. I will also be using this in tandem with my dehydrator to make my own backpacking meals for two sons and myself. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend this to anybody looking for a vacuum sealer at a reasonable price.

Barb : So Far Great
Had a big food saver sealer.Twice the size and never did seal right form the start. If it doesn't vacuum and seal right then it is garbage. This small portable unit seems to do the job well.'1 thing I can add. Some sealer bags are thick and this sealer needs to seal twice to seal properly.I now dow a two seal on start and finish and it is good.I must say the vacuum is the most important part and this sealer does a great job.Company or dealer support is 100%
Hiro : Good for non-moist items.
Good, basic, lower cost sealer that works well with dry items. Things like diced or chunked raw chicken breast, which I prepare for my cats, don't seal well unless it's at least partially frozen first. If it's very moist, the juices can prevent a complete seal. Even if meat is less moist, the meat seems to block some of the air flow out of the bag. This is my first time using a sealer, so maybe there are tricks and details that I'm unaware of.
Vagrant : Works perfectly if you leave room to seal
1. Do not cheat when leaving room to seal. The plastic wasted doing that could have gone towards five or six other bags that have a proper seal. One will learn pretty quick about how much additional length is needed.
2. Freeze most of your food first, then seal it. Depending on what the item is, the seal is strong and will squish or break the food when creating the vacuum. While one would not freeze animal cookies, some will break as well as shelled walnuts.
3. With meat I do not freeze it first, but I leave plenty of room so the blood/oil/moisture is not pulled out by the vacuum. After that it keeps well in the freezer.
Ultimately, buying bulk and sealing with this device is perfect. I use an inexpensive ruler cutter, like one used in a binder, to cut the plastic evenly. I also purchased more rolls that have the weave only on one side. Still, it works very well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RKRK7FD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Clecy C. : Geryon!
These work great and if you go to Lowes and by a hose you can attack them to the Foodsaver kit for sealing jars!
Edit" After 2 years it no longer seals..it just keeps vacuuming. No matter what I try, it just keeps on vacuuming even with an empty bag..near seals! It will seal if I chose the seal the bag option, but under the vac and seal..it never stops vacuuming!
David : If you're on the fence, just buy it.
I've only used this item a handful of times so far, but so far so good. Very easy to use - just stick the bag in, snap it shut, and press the button for either "seal" or "vacuum seal". The vacuum works great. I've had a couple imperfect seals, but I think it was just a case of having moisture in the bag where I was trying to seal it. Not that big of a problem though, with just a quick glance it's obvious if the seal isn't perfect and there's plenty of room above the seal to make sure the bag is clean and dry and try again. I'm very happy with this purchase so far, the only reason I won't give it 5 starts is because I can't yet speak on it's longevity. If it withstands the test of time, this is definitely a 5 star product in my opinion.

Corey S : Great budget sealer for sous vide cooking
I'm guessing a fair chunk of the customers that are buying/bought this are using it for sous vide cooking. That's why I got it and I'm very happy with this sealer. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that come with other high price sealers but this little guy stands on its own. It pulls a good tight vacuum and seals the bags very well. The bags it comes with are OK but it pulls a better vacuum and lays a thicker seal with the KitchenBoss bags I got off here. Guessing that's because the air channels are laid out differently. The machine is very light and compact which allows it to fit into any drawer or cabinet with ease. I can't speak about the durability since I've only had this for a couple weeks but I'll update you if any problems arise. All in all, I'm definitely happy with this purchase and would recommend this to others
PinkyFloyd : Do it NOW!
Wow.....I had been wanting a vacuum food sealer for DECADES! Don't know what took me so long - so if that is you too - don't wait! Took it out of the box and was slightly intimidated, but had seen a few videos on how they worked so I knew the basics. Well, thats all you need to know with this one! So easy to use! Put food in presealed bag, put end in machine, close machine top with a little pressure until it latches on each side to securely close it and press vacuum and seal (or just seal)....and now you know how to operate this! It really is that easy. Very happy I purchased this one. It was less expensive than some of the name brand ones but has the same functions as the big boys and has the vacuum nozzle so if you wanted to purchase the canning jar lid and hose you can easily attach it (mine is on the way). BTW the hose and canning jar accessories are much cheaper on eBay than here. Bottom line is - super simple, doesn't take up much room and will save all your food from freezer burn and extend the life of fruits, veggies. You really can't go wrong with this one. So happy with this purchase!
UPDATE: I purchased a bag of salad 10 days ago ($3.98), and ate half of the bag for lunch. I sealed the remainder of the bag, tossed it back in the fridge and honestly, just forgot about it. I don't know if you know how fast open bag of salad deteriorates after opening the bag, but after 3 or 4 days, the lettuce would be starting to turn rust colored and by 10 days, it would be mostly watery and mush. I would not have eaten it and would have thrown it out and wasted food (again). This has been going on for YEARS. Went into the fridge this morning - the salad in the sealed bag looks as fresh as it did when I purchased it and I will be enjoying salad for lunch. This little machine just saved me another $3.98!
Craig : Great machine, Great price
I've only had the opportunity to use this vacuum sealer a couple of times so far but will update my review if anything changes. I love the simplicity of the device. It is my first device of this type so I don't have anything for comparative purposes but I can't imagine it being any easier to preserve leftover foods or to portion up items from the grocery store for storage. I bought this to help eliminate the waste from having to throw away out of date food that I make on my new pellet grill. This way I can simply let it cool, vacuum seal the leftovers and throw them in the deep freeze for use later on without worrying about freezer burn. So far, so good!
