Questions about Premium Pellet Smoker Tube for All Grill Electric Gas Charcoal or Smokers- 5 Hours of Billowing Smoke - Cold or Hot Smoking- Ideal for Smoking Cheese Nuts Steaks Fish Pork Beef - 12" Stainless Steel
Q:
No lid? No directions. I received the tube, a brush and a hook. Is there a lid that is supposed to come w/ it? Also no instructions.
Answer: hello friend, open cap at one end is for easy filling pellets, closed cap at other end keeps pellets inside. You would use it following: fill the tube with wood pellets, then light it up with a torch, let burn well 6-10 minutes, then lay it down in your grill or smoker
Answer: No lid. No reason for one. Once it gets going place it on the grill on it’s side at a slight angle. I use a small flat stone on the base side. This will permit it to slowly smoke the entire tube. There are a lot of YouTube videos that show how to use the tubes. Good luck and keep grilling!
Answer: There is no lid nor instructions that I could find. Simply fill the tube with pellets or chips and light it with a heat gun or a kitchen torch. I let mine burn for about 5 minutes in the upright position and when the flame starts to go out and turn the coals, I put it in my cooker. It usually lasts from three to four hours. If you need much time wills Part full and light from the outside.
Answer: One end of the tube is always open. The pellets stay pretty well in there anyhow. Fill tube to the top with you favorite FOOD GRADE PELLETS... tap it off of a solid surface a few times to settle the pellets in, refill back to top... light the open end with a torch....let burn for 5 minutes... toss it in whatever it you want to smoke with (smoker or your grill)... you now have 6 hours of smoke to provide an awesome flavor! Once cooled, shake ashes and unused pellets out snfd clean with provided brush. ENJOY
Answer: Looks like you are asking the exact same question(s) I asked. I resolved the issue of "no lid" by wrapping a small piece of heavy kitchen alum foil over the open end of the tube. (Stopped pellets from falling out) Depending on the length of "smoke time" desired, depends on the amount of pellets used, should you need a bit more smoke, add a bit more pellets to the tube...BE EXTRA careful when handling the hot tube and foil if used. A little experimentation should resolve the volume needed, be it more or less pellets. Enjoy!
Q:
Were is it made
Answer: As long as you have something to enclose the smoke.
Q:
Can I use wood chips in this? How well do they smile using it?
Answer: Never tried it, but I have never had good success with wood chips, for me it would die out after 30 minutes. Using pellets the smoke will last 4-5 hrs. Highly recommend using this smoker tube.
Answer: No! I you use wood chips you are defeating the the reason for the pellets and smoker tube. It works very well within its design. Don't shove wood chips in it!
Answer: Never used chips, I smile when I use it!
Answer: Yes you can use wood chips in it. The wood chips that l use are very happy and they smile the entire time! They also smell good too.
Answer: I have only used the pellets so far - they work just fine. I don't know about wood chips?
Answer: Never used wood chis
Q:
what kind of pellets do you buy for this? And where do you buy them?
Answer: Smoker pellets. Buy them almost anywhere right now because of summer.
Answer: Buy smoker pellets at most hardware stores or sport stores. Any place that sells smokers. Works great and smoke when smoking and works great for cold smoking cheese
Answer: They are little pellets. The best way I can describe is that it looks like wooden pills. We by the thru amazon because we get the best choices and prices with them.
Answer: Just regular smoker pellets I get mine at Lowe’s and Walmart!
Answer: Any kind will work. You can buy them at here in Amazon, or on any major retail, and hardware stores
Answer: Any brand will work.
Q:
What about placing this smoke tube under the grill plate? I have an electric dome lid type grill.
Answer: Not sure. But try it out and see what happens
Answer: That would work great. The smoke tube works with it’s own heat/flame source, the burning wood pellets. As long the smoke tube can be placed vertically or at a 45 degree angle +/- under the grill plate, everything should work. The smoke tube would be a really great addition to your electric dome to get a true smoke flavor.
Answer: I use an electric Traeger and have used my smoke tube on the top grill, bottom grill, and under the bottom grill on top of the heat shield. No issues at all, but if you smoke cheese, keep it as far from from these cheese as your grill will allow.
Q:
How do i use this on a flat griddle
Answer: Unless you have a covered griddle like a lid on a bbq grill it would be a waste as all the smoke blows away in the open. You need an enclosed area to capture the smoke and keep it near the food you want to benefit from the smoke. Good luck.
Answer: Just like you would in a grill, I suppose. You would have to have a lid or cover that would completely encase the tube and the food, obviously. Make sure to microwave the pellets for about minutes before putting them in the tube and lighting them.
Answer: no unless you have a dome over your food it mite work. give it a try. it is made more for grills
Answer: I put mine on the top rack above the meat. It needs air all they way around so it can breath.
Answer: As long as you have something to contain the smoke.
Q:
Can it be put out and relit later if you don't need all tge pellets in the tube?
Answer: I’ve never tried but if you shut most of the air vents off that might work. I have relit unburned pellets before without any problem. My suggestion is to put fewer pellets in the tube or try to guess how full you think you need to smoke your meat or what your cooking.
Answer: I'm not sure I suppose you could dump the pellets out on a fireproof surface and spread them out. I think it would be better to only fill it up with the amount of pellets needed. When full I get about 3 to 3.5 hours of burn time in my smoker, plenty of time for cold smoking cheese and meats.
Answer: I never tried that, but I don't see why not. You'd have to dump out the lit pellets. Maybe you can do that without emptying the entire tube, though keep in mind that the tube gets very hot!
Answer: I imagine you could put it out and reuse the leftover pellets. What I do is just put fewer pellets in when I know I am grilling for a shorter period of time. The nature of pellets is that they burn so putting them out might be challenging. I also recommend that you get the pellets smoldering and then move the tube away from active flame. It will continue to smoke but if left over the flame will ignite and create less desirable black smoke. I do like this tube but it takes some getting used to. See you at the grill!
Answer: No. If you are cooking a small project (burger, sausage, etc,) put less pellets in the tube.
Answer: You can carefully remove the burning pellets and save the unburdened ones for later use.
Answer: I don’t know how to put it out. I always let mine burn itself out. If there is a way to do what you want then l am unaware of how it would be done.
Answer: Mine always goes out on its own after about 1 hour anyways.
Answer: Yes, if you spray it with water or snuff out the oxygen.
Answer: Yes
Q:
Can i use apple wood chunks in it? thank you all for any answers. snuffy55
Answer: I’m sure you can but you can get apple wood pellets too. Have had them burn for 4 to 5 hours.
Answer: Of course, use any type hard wood just nothing from the pine tree family of woods. The tree pitch is not a pleasant flavor profile.
Answer: I have only used it with pellets. Worked great! Never tried it with chunks.
Answer: Absolutely.. I've used apple, hickory and plum...it works great.
Answer: I don't think they would work well it is designed for pellets.
Do you have to soak the wood in water for smoking?
Answer: You use the pellets that are for a pellet smoker. I found if I stand it up with a full load of pellets it last about 4 hour. If I lay it on its side, the smoke goes out or burns up in about 2 hours.
Answer: This product is meant to be used with smoker pellets. If you soak those they will turn to mush and be unuseable.
Answer: No, this uses pellets. I actually microwave my pellets about a minute before putting in this. I also light it and let it burn a few minutes prior to blowing it out and putting it in the smoker.
Q:
Where are the instructions? Sure its simple to use but there was no guide or instructions in the box when it arrived. Thanks
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Light from the top with torch and let it burn for 5 minutes then blow the flame out and you’re ready to go.
Q:
Does this cook, or just provide smoke?
Answer: It holds the smoldering wood pellets which are smoking and the smoke provides flavor to the surrounding foods. It does not by itself provide enough heat to say cook a hamburger well done but when used in a grill at the same time provides a wonderful smoked flavor.
Answer: This will provide extra smoke in your smoker. It will not cook food. It can be used for cold smoking things like cheese or fish.
Answer: Does not cook, only smoke. Meant for adding extra smoke flavor into whatever you're cooking with another fuel source. Does work well though
Answer: Just provides smoke, it’s a cold smoker
Answer: It will not cook. It does a great job of smoking.
Answer: Just smoke, but it does a great smoke job!
Answer: Just to add extra smoke
Q:
Can I use in my electric smoker ?
Answer: I'm pretty sure you could do this. Usually electric smokers have their own "smoke box" built in where you can add wood chunks, if yours does not the smoke tube will add smoke flavor. I have a pallet grill and use the smoke tubes regularly to increase smoke flavor. Hope this helps! Good luck "smoking"!
Answer: yes, our pellet smoker tube is suitable for ANY GRILL AND SMOKER (gas, electric or charcoal).
Answer: Yes, just don’t need to turn it on for cold smoking, if ou want to add smoke while your cooking with it you certainly can.
Answer: Yes you can
Product reviews of Premium Pellet Smoker Tube for All Grill Electric Gas Charcoal or Smokers- 5 Hours of Billowing Smoke - Cold or Hot Smoking- Ideal for Smoking Cheese Nuts Steaks Fish Pork Beef - 12" Stainless Steel
Saltlifer : Not what I hoped for
It does produce smoke but takes too much attention and refilling. Unlike advertisement I did not get billowing smoke for several hours. I was lucky to get one hour before it needed to be shaken (to keep embers lit) and refilled. It burned through small wood chips in about an hour. Used apple, cherry and hickory in that order with similar results. Didn't make a difference if chips were larger (barely fit opening) or very small (matchstick, kindling). Didn't use pellets. This unit has a stainless steel look but is cheap and rather thin so it won't last long in that harsh envirronment. Noticed black grill in sun with this smoker burning inside kept inside temperature between 200-250 deg F (with burners turned off).
David Skurnik : Great Smoker Tool
This is a great new and inexpensive way to turn an old BBQ into a smoker. Its easy to light with a propane blowtorch, and burns steadily for hours and hours. It produces copious smoke, more than the meat can absorb. Excellent gadget!
ATF Texas : Really works with The Big Green Egg!
This smoke system works great with The Big Green Egg! Smoke last up to10+ hours because you can control the air flow so precisely up with the big green egg. Much better than big chucks.
Martin W. : High quality product, works very well
I used this for the first time this past weekend in my gas powered smoker instead of the trays that I used before. I used Trager pellets and lit it with a propane torch. The smoker tube generated a constant but not overwhelming amount of smoke for approx. 5 hrs. The pork roast and ribs that I cooked were amazing -- our guests did not stop raving about the flavor. This is one of the best additions to my outdoor cooking that I have made in quite some time.
Richard Saenz : It’s smokes for five hours
Love this thing
John : Turns most any grill into a smoker!
Picked this up as a supplemental smoker on the suggestion of friends. I’ve smoked several several blocks of cheese already and tried 2 different types of smoker pellets in it.
Pros: burns fairly cool, but if you smoke cheese with it, keep the cheese and smoker at opposite ends to prevent cheese from melting. Easy to use, the cleaning brush comes in handy, and the price is reasonable.
Cons: it’s advertised as having smoke times of 5+ hours, but I consistently get only 4 hours, regardless of which pellets I used.
Summary: although I deducted a star for the discrepancy in smoke time, at its current price of 14, I’d definitely recommend this item to friends & family.
Nickninja : For when you want extra smoke
For those times when I want to add extra smoke for my pellet grill (usually with a brisket), this works like a charm. And it's perfect for cold smoking in my kettle.
Check on YouTube for the easy lighting trick with a heat gun. Saves so much time.
RonnieGraves : Smokey
Burned for a very long time. Gave that extra smokey goodness. My dad ended up stealing mine so I had to buy another yesterday. Usually only get half to 3/4 of that smoke ring normally on the short cooks for the pork tenderloin. Definitely pleased with the results. Brisket is next!
sheshops : Great little smoker for grill
Make a great gift to turn your grill into a smoker.
Amazon Customer : Fantastic
This thing works on any grill, makes plenty of smoke for hours and helps me make the best smoked cheese!
Derek Hamblin : Makes life better
Bought it to make smoked cheese, I use it all the time and love it.
Bennie : Works GREAT
I have used this a couple of times for cold smoking cheese on my grill. It works GREAT! Puts out just enough smoke to make the cheese taste great. I filled it with pellets and it ran for about 4 1/2 hours. I was worried about using it on the deck of my apartment building (thinking that someone would call it in as a fire on the deck) but it only puts out just enough smoke. I will definitely be buying this as gifts for my friendsfamily!
Randy : Its a smoke monster.
It was bigger than I thought it would be , But that's OK . It really is a smoke monster . First time using it I filled it about 3/4 the way full and let it burn off on some blocks I had outside and it was smoking enough to cover my whole garage area. I know it wasn't the tube but the pellets I used, But this thing works great and comes with a clean out brush and an S hook.
Chris F : Works, but not as expected
I have a gas grill and usually do off-burner cooking for BBQ pork ribs where I light up the outer 2 outside burners and leave the 2 inside burners off, and put the ribs in the middle of the grill. The first time I used this gizmo, I put it on top of one of the lit burners, and though the smoker worked, the wood chips just burned within the hour. The next time I used it, I put it on the warming rack, but again the wood chips burned within the hour. So both times, I had to refill it with more chips, being careful not to burn myself. This mean running it under cold water, and cleaning up the soot from the old chips. For the price I paid for it, it wasn't worth returning it.
Amazon Customer : it will never look new again
it will never look new again. who cares it works! takes a second to make sure it's lit, I'm thinking that may depend on your medium. I used pellets, I have a few to burn through, going to experiment with some mixtures
Jaden : LOVE IT.
I've used this 5 times now in my pitboss pellet smoker. I'm averaging 4-5 hours per use, depending on outside factors.
I tried drying the pellets in a microwave (5 minutes) and in an oven (200 degrees for 90 minutes. The oven dried them out too much and they burned faster in the tube. Microwave is definitely the way to go to dry out the pellets.
The first couple times I used it, I was impatient and blew the flame out too soon. You really do need to let the pellets burn for 4-5 minutes before blowing them out.
I would highly recommend this accessory to anyone wanting to add extra smoke to their cooks.
I have not used this to cold smoke yet, but I will soon.
Happy smoking.
Art S. in FL : Works great!
This thing really works! I read a lot of reviews that talked about how they liked it so for $11 I figured I'd give it a go, plus if something doesn't perform as stated Amazon takes it back and I appreciate that. But they aren't getting this purchase back. I loaded it not quite full, lit it per instructions and it genersted beautiful smoke for 4 hours probably 5 with a full tube of pellets. I did make a small ball out of foil and placed in the open end to keep the pellets in place. If you enjoy smoke flavored meat this thing will give it to you.
Bennie : Works GREAT
I have used this a couple of times for cold smoking cheese on my grill. It works GREAT! Puts out just enough smoke to make the cheese taste great. I filled it with pellets and it ran for about 4 1/2 hours. Paul 1946 : Great device for grills when you want wood smoke
I got this on a lark and have to say it is worth every penny. I like the flavor wood smoke imparts to grilled meat. I don't always feel like using my smoker so this fills the bill. The word is out and now the price has gone up.
Satdvr45 : the pellets add great flavor
the pellets add great flavor to the cooking process from this device, it was hard to light with just a lighter so I used a natural fire starter in the end, if your careful you can add pellets to the tube as its smoldering, I smoked a pastrami on a Weber genesis II grill it came out wonderful.
Steve : Works well
Does a good job adding smoke flavor to almost any food. The only drawback is that it is a little difficult to set it up for a short burn. I have settled on wadding up aluminum foil to stuff in the tube to get shorter burns for grilling. It would be great if there was some type of divider inside that could be moved to adjust the amount of chips needed for shorter burns.
Wardo : Smoky!
A must have to add smoke to your grilling. Use a butane torch to light and get it going.
Prentice Shumate : Good buy
Works great for me get about 4 hrs or so of more smoke !
richard : love it
works just like i wanted it to
Prentice Shumate : Good buy
Works great for me get about 4 hrs or so of more smoke !
namhn420 : Damaged product
3 star only because i know the item still works (haven't used it yet. Only un boxed it) but Item arrived bent although shipping box seemed OK.
Sam Henry : Cold Smoking Bliss
Once the pellets get lit, it works well. However, I had to blow on the embers once or twice to keep the smoke billowing.
Netter : Works great
Delivered excellent additional smoke in a pellet grill and easy to light with Big Beard fire starters that you can break apart easily to use just a little if you don't have a torch. I used a combination of pellets and smoking chips.
Nonamehere : Works great
This works great if you are using wood pellets in it. I have yet to be able to get it to work with wood chips, which is what I was hoping to use with it.
Gerb Bergen : Works great!
This is easy to use to add some good smoky flavor to your BBQ! I soak my wood chips and load them into this to add some nice smoke to my steaks and burgers. I would purchase this again and a buddy purchased one after tasting a steak from my BBQ.
KoalaSue : Poor mans best bet for a smoky flavor!
Wife and 25 y/o son have played with this. I’m pretty sure that they think it works well, and they both have smokers.
SG : Well built
It’s put together well. You definitely need a torch to light the pellets. It should come with a cap to cap the end. It will get you the smoke you need.
Mike Fuller : Premium Pellet Smoker Tube
I purchased this for my Char-Broil Electric Smoker to replace the "chip box" and I am glad that I did. This is so much easier to use. With this burning all of the pellets to nothing it is easier to clean. Not to mention that buying the pellets in a 40 lb bag is cheaper than buying a little or big bag of wood chips. I would recommend this Pellet Smoker Tube!
Topher Davis : Clean consistent smoke - and lots of it!
Got this because my camp chef was not consistent on how much smoke was coming out. For some things it’s okay, but when you’re taking 18 hours to do a brisket, you want the best and most consistent smoke possible. This thing does the trick.
Anne Legg : Does a great job turning a gas grill into a smoker
We used pelletized hickory and cold-smoked a whole bunch of different cheeses. It did a great job and now we want to make lox. We just plugged up the vents in the top of the gas grill and used the racks to smoke on. Not necessary to turn on the grill.
navalsoccer : Works great!
Does what it is supposed to do. Smoked for about 3 and a half hours. I did have to check on it as the pellets will re-light if there is too much wind/air flow. but just blow out the flame and the smoke is back on. Great addition to any grill or smoker.
Matthew F. : Excellent! It burns longer horizontally. Start it with a Berzomatic torch.
I found that in order to get a full burn, lay it on its side, not standing on end.
Pack tightly with pellets.
This will definitely get it lit: https://www.amazon.com/Bernzomatic-TS8000BZKC-Premium-Trigger-Start-Torch/dp/B00BJQUIMY/ref=sr_1_10?crid=1IWQ1IFPUZUU4&dchild=1&keywords=bernzomatic+torch&qid=1627751269&sprefix=Berzom%2Caps%2C197&sr=8-10
sheshops : Great little smoker for grill
Make a great gift to turn your grill into a smoker.
Amazon Customer : Great for the grill
It worked great for what we wanted it for. I would highly suggest a propane torch to light this. The chicken was delicious and very favorable.
Richard : Lotz of Smoke...Total Burn
Only used once with water soaked wood chips. Easy to load and clean. Wood burned nicely with Lotz of smoke. Will try later with pellets.
Prentice Shumate : Good buy
Works great for me get about 4 hrs or so of more smoke !

Bill Schumaker : Low temp - smokes well
I used it twice so far - it works just fine with the pellets. I like that it will smoke for 2-3 hrs. If you want to cool smoke - this is very good way to do it. I did some hamburgers over the coals on grill, and also had this going for them 1/2 hr before I put meat over direct heat - did a nice job of adding more smoke flavor. You do not have to fill it all the way. A full fill lasts 2-3 hrs. I light it with propane torch - just faster
navalsoccer : Works great!
Does what it is supposed to do. Smoked for about 3 and a half hours. I did have to check on it as the pellets will re-light if there is too much wind/air flow. but just blow out the flame and the smoke is back on. Great addition to any grill or smoker.
Keith C. : Yep - It Smokes
Seems to work best with pellets instead of chips.
George J. Bingham : Imagine - a product that works as advertised!
What a joy to buy some random product and it actually works as advertised. when used as a cold smoke generator, this puts out a ton of smoke. It's a bit hard to get lit - you definitely need some kind of torch. As others have said, get it flaming then let it burn for 5 plus minutes before blowing out the fire. Magic - tons of smoke. Mine burned 4 hours today before I put it out. It still had 1/3 of the pellets intact. Used it in a Big Chief Smoking box and it warmed the interior to 70 degrees F. Too high for my salami and Coppa so I used a cardboard box where the smoke tube was placed and dryer vent tube to transfer smoke from the cardboard box to the smoker box. Temps were reduced down to low 50's. Simple, inexpensive, functional. Thumbs up!

Marcio Cavalcanti : Cheap alternative to expensive smokers (with some extra work)
I made a babyback ribs with this thing, four hours on my grill with low indirect heat, and this smoker for the 4 hours.
It tasted deliciously, but the only thing is that it would last around an hour, so I had to refill it with more pellets and fire it again.
I wouldn't recommend for those longer smoking cooking. If you're smoking up to 4-5 hours, it's doable.
