can this smoker be placed on it's back for travel?
Answer: There is no internal wiring that will damage. The cooking racks may rattle around but it should travel well.

Answer: I don't see why not, but with the legs folded it isn't much smaller on its back. But after using it a while even cleaning it well with vinegar (shouldnt use cleaners) you will probably drip so grease having it on its back.

Answer: Thank you for your question. What you are seeing is the match stick with chain that can be used to manually light the smoker if the provided igniter isn't working.
Answer: That holds a match. Incase you’re igniter doesn’t work. So you do t have to get your hands close to the propane gas when lighting

Answer: This unit is not equipped with a quick connect and has a simple style regulator. It has not been tested for use with a quick connect set up and is not suggested for use with any other regulator than comes with the unit.

What is the temp range for this propane portable smoker?
Answer: The temperature range for this smoker is 140°- 285°F.
Answer: Around 200-350 depending on the outside temperature. Low is basically 225, medium is around 300, and high is about 350. Also the vent adjusts it by around 10 degrees and the water pan lowers it about 25 degrees.

Answer: My father in-law purchased this smoker and said a 1 lb propane canister lasts roughly 5 hours. That was at about 3000 ft elevation.
Answer: I’m not sure. We hooked it up to a regular grill sized propane tank.
Answer: Depends on the temp you are trying to maintain and whether you are set on high med or low gas flow. I plan for about 3 hours on a 1 lb tank. We purchased for tailgating but we also purchased a line so that we can connect it to our 25lb tank when at home.

Answer: Any flavor is fine. I will tell u the chip box is too close to flame and get caught on fire and is too small. I order a tube smoke box and moved put it on top of the existing smoke box and it works 10x better

Answer: If you use wood chips in the box provided, it will produce a noticeable amount of smoke. If you don't use wood chips, then it's basically like an oven at that point, so I wouldn't see the point personally.

Answer: You can get 1 lb. cylinders at Lowe’s or Home Depot. I have a 20 lb. propane tank so I just bought an adapter hose at Lowe’s that fits the smoker and propane tank.

Answer: Sounds like a bad regulator. Sometimes we have to put up a wind block (8”board) across side wind is coming from when flame goes out but that’s the only time. Seems to keep consistent temp

Great little smoker. Lowest setting on regulator holds at 250 if you have a pan of liquid on the bottom rack. Speaking of which, i either always do that or smoke with stuff in disposable aluminum pans because the included water pan is ridiculously small, as is the wood chip tray. I bought a 12" pellet tube and sit that on the bottom next to the burner. If you're an experienced pitmaster you know that you have to tweak all smokers to get them to perform according to your wishes, so these shortcomings don't detract from the rating-- you just make 'em work! This weekend on the smoker's maiden voyage in my rv, I have already made some delicious St. Louis- style ribs and a "poor man's brisket" (chuck roast) which I pulled and made sandwiches with A1. Tomorrow is BBQ chicken legs. If you know what you're doing, you can pull some fine meats from this ultra- portable little unit. Perfect for camping! When home I'll continue using my full- size smoker, but this is exactly what i need while on the road.
Summary: not necessarily recommended for beginners, but an experienced person should be able to get from it what you're looking for. If you're just beginning, learn how to smoke first on a larger, more featured smoker, and then you'll know how to tweak this to get what you want.

Low setting is around 200-225, medium is 250-270 and high is 325-350 depending on how hot it is. If you're cooking something with a lot of fat, like pork, then I would put a tray underneath it because sometimes the fat can drip and snuff out the flame.
