Product reviews of Lew's Laser XL 60 4.2:1 Casting Reel
Jdub : Great reel
Hasn't failed yet, as great a quality as my 7000's
Paul F. : Amazing reel for the price!!!!
This is a fantastic reel for the money! Casts like butter. I was shocked at how resistant this is to backlashes as I thought this would be birds nest city. I can cast big honkin lures as shown in the picture all the way down to senkos! I think I've gotten better distance on this bad boy than my low profile casters like my Abu black maxx or my Lew's speed spool. Definitely a good buy and might pick up another for a friend.
- Clicker is very audible
- Drag is smooth
- Spool disengagement is tactile
- Not too heavy considering size
- Holds a TON of line
Corbyn fields : Very much recommend this reel
I have had many baitcasters like this. I would definitely recommend this reel. It performs perfectly. I love this reel
Jdub : Great reel

kevin howze : Pos
I think it’s broke. It don’t cast like my zebco. Line keeps getting messed up
Dan O : For the price not bad..if your looking for casting distance, avoid at all cost
Not bad so far..not a smooth caster, but it gets the job done...Update: After using for a few months my thoughts are ..As mentioned before the casting is terrible,i use a 8 ounce weight & big chunk of cut bait for catfishing and well you would think it would cast a country mile, but it doesnt, its loud feels like its going to come apart mid cast..just feels cheap..i would recommend this as a boat reel where casting is not as important...think im gonna replace this with the kastking 60 R
ROSCO : A good loud reel
I read where this reel is loud when you cast and one of mine is. I have 2. The problem is that you have to listen to it for a 75- 80 yrd cast. With a 3oz weight these reels will cast a large chunk of cut bait past my other reels 15yrds . So far they have handled a 32# and 15 # without a hitch. Even my Abu's make a rackit when you cast.
Chris Blankenship : Smooth like melted butter
Very smooth casting and retrieving is like spreading soft butter. For the price I love it. Made these my channel cat reels paired with ugly stixs. I would buy these reels again. Should be durable..
Over50Nomads : Great Reel
I got this Reel as a gift and I think it is excellent for my cat fishing purposes Casts well, very smooth reel and I like that it’s durable.

Amazon Customer : Guide certified, so far.
ETA, almost a year now, still going strong.
So far so good. Striper guide, using to pull planer boards only, bought 6, been used hard for a month, still working perfectly.
Yedoc1991 : Broken after one use, unusable.
This reel would be rated 0 stars if I could. Used one time, didn’t even catch anything, and the drag stopped working, reel will no longer reel in line. Handle just spins and spool doesn’t. Can pull line out super easily with max drag set. Threw away my money.
Jon Sorensen : Not worth the money
I found that this product dosnt live up tho the Lews name! After fishing with it for 3 days the drag has faltered already twice and you cant lock it down like you should be able to. The amount of line is good but cant go over 20# or the reel dosnt cast very well. If ya want a small line dia. and good trolling reel this is good but not for catfish!
Chris Blankenship : Smooth like melted butter

Darken : Spend the extra on a Lew's Speedcast SC600
Ok, first off, I generally LOVE Lew's reels. Even the $40 spinner I got at Wally World is fantastic. This reel just...isn't. It's extra medium. Utterly mediocre. Drag is fussy and not smooth. When casting and reeling, noisy as hell. It's a beautiful reel, but its beauty only goes skin deep. Inside, it's a compromise-filled mess. The Speedcast SC600 is far and away smoother, stronger, and faster. This reel is so 'meh' it's forgettable. Nothing about it (in hand) screams quality or value. It's just another in a long line of average reels that cost more than they should. The KastKing Rover is a better value, and I really don't like those. They have that same noisy, rough operation, but at a lower price. The bait clicker is very loud, and I actually prefer the actuator on this one over the SC600, but other than that, it's not on the same planet as a good reel, like my (Swedish) Abu 6500 or 7000s. I did purchase this from another vendor, but am adding my review here. (WW).
