when sealing a bag, can it be cut right after it is sealed? or does the bag have to cool first from being heat sealed

Answer: You cut the bag right after it is sealed. It's a very quick and easy process. No need for it to cool at all. You seal the bag and then immediately slide the cutter.

Answer: It can be cut right away. After you press the arm down to achieve the seal you slide the red piece across the arm/lever while it is still in the down position and that's how it's cut. So basically you press the arm down, slide the red piece across and it's sealed and cut.

Answer: It is air tight for sure. We use ours on various thickness' up to 6mil poly and the seal width depends on material thickness and elasticity, time of seal heat, and compression of the spring in the handle. Our products do not require air tight seals, so after we seal the bag, we have to go back and use a hole punch to release the air, or the packaging takes up too much space. If you dial the time up, this thing will melt off doubled up 6mil poly completely, with an air tight seal at about 3mm wide.

Answer: I dont know if its 2 or 3mm. I use mine on 2 mil bags containing light to medium weight products and havent had any problems sealing.

Will the Jorestech seal shrink wrap material, and close CD cases that have been shrink-wrapped?

Answer: It is only good for sealing prior to the shrinking of the shrink wrap material.

Answer: Nope. Just the seal. & I would recommend using a gusseted bag if what your sealing has much thickness to it. I use it for cookies with a half inch thickness and it's fine for that

Answer: yes, just keep in mind the heat gun may cause the seal to separate as the wrap shrink.

Does the seal cut through the bag so that it can just be pulled off the machine without having to trim with scissors?

Answer: The machine only seals. It does no cut. I use it for sealing individual mylar bags. If used on a roll of material then scissors would be necessary for separating into individual bags.

Answer: If the plastic is thin enough and the timer setting is turned up high enough, then yes. For instance, plastic that is similar in thickness to Zip-Lock bags, it will melt through. Mylar bags will not be cut by this machine.

Answer: The seal is about 1/8". It's probably good to have at least 1/8" clearance outside the seal but it's really up to user control.

Answer: It is definitely heavy and metal. Whether die cast, molded or poured or....I really don't know. It is a very sturdy piece.

is it possible/feasible to change this to a flat wire sealer?

Answer: Don't know. It gives a great seal. Wide and strong. I have only used it on food saver or like bags. I will be trying flexible cans and metalized pouches this fall. Then into the pressure canner to see if it will hold. have a westson 2300 and that does a great seal too.

Answer: I don't know. Used it about 1/2 dozen times and it stopped working. Use it as a door stop and reminder of my foolishness. Wife gave me old iron - worked much better set on "silk". Save your money.

Does the cutter make a nice cut or more sloppy?

Answer: The cutter itself provides a clean cut. However, unless you take the time to align the bag perfectly, there will always be a little section on the end that you have to tear manually. It is annoying, but not something that made me regret buying it.

Answer: I love this unit. I'm a small reseller and have high use, but I like the unit a lot. If you cut <12" the cut is basically perfect. I do some cuts over 12" and have to try to line up for a straight cut. Truth is I do mostly heat shrink stuff so the 12"+ cuts can be off and it's not a big deal. I would say 12"+ cuts are sloppy because of me not the unit.

Answer: Yes Eliud, this sealer will work fine for cellophane bags; simply test by regulating the bar heat for your desired finish.

Will this work effectively for sealing mylar storage bags long term? I've been using a hair straightener, for comparison.

Answer: I use mine to mainly seal bags for cookies, but I have also used it to seal other food for storage, like chips, bread crumbs, etc. It has held up fine.

Answer: It should work depending on how heavy the materiel is and sealing temp required to fuse it.

I bought one of these recently. Does anybody know if a thinner element can be used with this model?

Answer: I bought one a few months ago and love it. I'm not sure if you can mount a "thinner" element, but the one that is in there leaves a thin seal. If I set the proper time, it leaves a 1/16th of an inch seal. If I raise the time slightly more than I need to, it leaves up to a 3/8th of an inch seal. If your looking for less than 1/16th of an inch, I would buy a different machine.

Will this cut and seal fabric?

Answer: No. This is a heat sealer and will only seal and cut cello and shrink wrap.

Could this machine work for aluminum foil food bags?

Answer: Dear Rosalina,

Answer: If they are really aluminum foil and only aluminum foil, then no. But I'd bet that you are looking at a metalized plastic bag that's actually a very thin layer of aluminum on a plastic, sealable layer. I would check the product description of the bags you'd like to seal. They'll often be marketed as "heat sealable" if they are, and if so, this machine will likely do the trick.

Answer: If it's really thin then maybe.. it doesn't get hot enough or stay on long enough for medium to thick bags to seal with multiple tries over the same spot.

I just bought this, opened the box, and there was no owner's manual or instruction manual. I have absolutely no idea how to use this.

Answer: I emailed them about this and this is the response I got back: Thank you for patiently waiting. Currently we do not have a physical manual for this item as is mostly intuitive the operation of the machine but you might need someone like our technicians to explain how to replace the heating elements or the PTFE strips. Please contact our technical support at 305.594.9000 for any inquiries on the operation of your machine. We are working in a physical manual but we do not have it available yet.

Answer: I bought one and there was no manual too - but it's pretty easy. Just plug the cord in and turn the dial to about 2 for cello bags. The machine heats up pretty fast, give it a minute or 2 and then you can start sealing the bags. Put the bag on the sealer and press down the handle, cello bag takes about 2 seconds to seal. Play around with temperature to see what works best for you. There's also a cutter/slider on the, just slide it when you want to cut the excess off. Hope this helps! (There are also youtube videos if you need a visual!) Good Luck!

Answer: If you mean thick as in mils of poly. I have not gone there yrt. The bead is wide. and very strong. I have not used the max setting yet. I will be testing on thicker and metalized retort style pouches soon. Check back in a few months

Answer: The website from the manufacturer states the max thickness is 6ml. That's pretty thick but my guess is that it would seal thicker material, based on my experience with it.

Can this be used around the kitchen as well? Like resealing salad bags, cereal bags or chip bags?

Answer: I am unsure. You need to check with the manufacture bacause the composite makeup of mateials of each individual bag differs.

I have to press down very hard for it to work. It seals just fine but I didn't have to push so hard with my other unit. Is this normal for this model?

Answer: If you can get it to seal you are doing better than I was. I ended up returning it because it wouldn't seal my mylar bags.

Works well, the cutter is not so great, but it functions (very lose, almost like it doesn't fit). The sealer function is stellar. I wish I could write 2 reviews for different parts of this product. I would give the cutter (which is important to us) a 2~3 star rating. But the sealer itself I would give a 5 stars. It makes the "click" sound that we depend on to know when the seal is complete, and the timer dial for different mil bags is pretty accurate.

Don't know how to rate it, 50/50 I suppose. The second one I bought has been great, hundreds of seals with the same original element and cover; seals fast and completely. But the first one, which is identical in every way, except it has a Technopack sticker on it, was a complete dud. Burned out elements fairly regular, and the little screws that hold these stainless strips which hold the Teflon cover on, stripped out quickly, 6 out of the 8 anyway. So I would tape them down, but had to switch the elements so often it was a royal pain, so next figured I'd put some slightly larger screws in, and it didn't like that at all. Made a noise similar to my old old electric train set. But it shouldn't have shorted on anything, I used the same length screws. just a hair fatter. Haven't given up on it yet though, took it completely apart, it's a simple mechanism, I'm going to contact Technopack to see if I can either buy the guts to it so I can replace or send to them to fix, if feasible. Or at least give them the chance to redeem themselves, I thought that's just the way it was, worked okay but had to replace elements all the time. Then I bought the second one from another seller and saw how it should be.
What I'd like to say of both, but only can about the second one without the corporation sticker, is that it's a fantastic and amazing device.

The cutter is offset so that it leave a 1/3 inch extra plastic . Very bad in that sense because it looks ugly when you shrink wrap it. Good sealer but poorly designed cutter. I do not recommend it.

I bought this heat sealer as an upgrade I purchased earlier this year, because I needed the cutter. Let's just say it cuts down so much time! I bake cookies and heat seal them before I deliver and it speeds up the process a ton. The price itself was very good, because everything else was super expensive. Like $80 plus. My item arrived the same day as my Prime items I purchased! It was packaged super well, and the quality of the sealer is very sturdy and has a 3 prong plug vs the little 2 prong plug I have on my old one. I added pictures. I hope it helps, still getting the hang on using the cutter but I think I got it down!

It worked one time. On the next seal attempt, even though the adjustment was set for max time, it only activated for a split second before clicking off and that is the best it will do now. I have another similar (a different brand) sealer that I've had for about 10 years and it has worked flawlessly all that time so I know how to use them and what to expect from the sealer. This one just doesn't work.

This sealer is used daily....multiple times daily in our air-popping popcorn store (Pop-Pop's Gourmet Popcorn, Midland MI). The temperature gets a little touchy, and needs to be adjusted per the type of poly bag we're using. Replacement parts are sent by Technopack at a reasonable price. .

I sell on Amazon and this is a great tool to have for shrink up your products. Amazon requires certain types of items to either be in a plastic bag or shrink wrap. I recently shrink wrapped some vitamins and the machine worked fine but sometimes i noticed that the shrink wrap plastic will stick to the top of the sealer when I separate the item from the sealer. This may be the result of the machine being to hot. I not quite sure yet. But I am glad I brought it.

I have been using mine for 9 years without any issues. Ordered a new one today only because the heating element for the first time broke. I can't remember where I put the replacement one it comes with. This has been a workhorse for me. I use this to seal heavy rolled plastic into custom bags and I also seal bubble rape into bag shapes instead of buying already made ones.

I had purchased a 12" impulse sealer that just did not work right. The timing circuit did not work so it would fire as long as you held it down. This one is a GREAT sealer. Easily set between lightweight bags and heavy duty food storage bags. Looks forward to many years of service.

As soon as I plugged it in, it started smoking and burned through the first PTFE sheet.
Changed the sheet and the heating element out and it burned through again by the second bag I sealed. The timer also doesn’t seem to work I have it on 1 and tried at 2 also. I didn’t leave the arm down to seal for more than three seconds at a time, but the led light never went off.
It also didn’t seal the bags right, it just melted it off, it’s like it’s running much too hot.

This was my first bad experience with an Amazon purchase and I am so disappointed. I shop weekly using my Amazon prime, and I buy almost everything online. When the item arrived, it was much larger and heavier than I was expecting. I needed it to seal small cookie bags. Yes, I ordered the 16 inch, but it's just bulky and heavy and not something that's easy to move around every week and tuck away when not in use. This item was not what I wanted, so I asked for a return. The seller did grant my request, but at my expense. I do not frequently return items, and thought that PRIME allowed free returns. I was disappointed to learn that's not the case, but when I went to ship the item, it was going to cost me more than half the cost of the item. So I emailed the seller and asked if they would pay return shipping if I did an exchange for the smaller 8 inch sealer. They said no that was not an option. So now I'm stuck with a large heavy item that I hate.
Now, since I'm stuck with the item, I used it this weekend to seal my Halloween cookie orders. The item does not work the way I expected at all. At this point I wouldn't even want the 8 inch sealer. The cutter does not cut the bags easily, or neatly. The heat settings are not consistent. My cookie bags either didn't seal, or the heat was too much and it melted the bag. If I found the right setting, it didn't last. After 2 or 3 bags of sealing "okay" it started messing up again.
I do not recommend this item, or purchasing from this seller, at all.
