Product reviews of KEY-BAK SECURIT Heavy Duty Retractable Key Holder with a Retractable Kevlar Cord Secures Keys, Gear
Amazon Customer : Amazing product, heavy duty
I love this keychain. I attach it to my pants/shorts. It’s perfect when your hands are always busy. It’s very durable, it’s heavy duty. I had one for a year and a half and was in great condition but I lost it. I came right back to find a replacement on here because it’s great. Only criticism is I wish the hook that goes on your pants loop wasn’t so long
Chris : The metal part that hooks onto your pants have put on me after 2 months.
I like this product for my work, since I will lock my keys inside rooms at work sometimes. My coworker recommended this to me and his lasted for a year. Sadly mines only lasted 2 months before the metal clip gave out and dented so I can’t hook it onto my pants anymore.
SAM : Strong
Husband is foreman on asphalt crew and it holds at least 20 keys, with no problem.
TM : Kevlar cord broke
Bought this before Christmas, Kevlar cord snapped and retracted all the way in. Didn't last 8 months of light use.
Ellen OKeefe : Not Sturdy
Its exactly what I wanted, it's super powerful and efficient at its job. It only has this horrible creaking sound when I pull on it.
UPDATE: After pulling it the string pulled into the reel and now its useless. (This happened on my third day using it)
Natan Zayas : Almost perfect.
The carabiner broke. I love the key reel, but the carabiner has a very fragile clip that came off easily therefore making it useless. I had to buy a nicer one for it to be perfect!
Jmazz : Clip broke off after 3 days!
Clip fell off after only 3 days. Could have lost my whole set of keys if I didn’t notice them hanging from my belt loop! Never found the clip. Waiting for a replacement. Hope 2nd time is the charm!
Derrick Smith : Good quality great product
I love the set up and my co-workers turned me on to this gadget and I really do like it..
Amazon Customer : For work
I had bought a Walmart retractable but the keys and badge was too heavy for it. I bought this one because I needed something a little more sturdy. OMG it was very sturdy. Am no longer comfortable having my keys and badge around my neck but this is very good. Am happy with this product.
Kyle : Great if the clip doesn't break.
The only reason this did not get 5 stars is because the part that clips on your belt loop broke and I can't seem to find a way to contact the seller about it. Other than that it worked great, this is my 2nd one with the only issue being the clip on this one. Tension is great, holds a lot of keys without sagging.
H-D-Rider : KEY-BAK Retractable Key Holder
Extremely well made - heavy duty (I seldom give 5-stars)
Purchased to carry (COVID-19) Touchless Keytool - Clean Key that Reduces Physical Contact with Public Surfaces, Keeps
More Cowbell : Nice 3ft Extension to a Traditional Dog Leash
I'm not using this as a key chain. I have always hated when my dog's leash gets caught under his leg and I have to bend all the way down, I'm 6'7"--long way down, and untangle. I added this to his standard leash. I don't like fully retractable leashes for big/powerful dogs. My brother was jogging and passed by a German Shepard--with prior offences it turned out--and boom, her retractable leash went flying out and she couldn't reel him in, and said German Shepard bit said joggers's calf. Those are fine for little dogs. This is perfect. I use a leash that attaches to my waist. I made a fail-safe redundancy cord that is 1 inch shorter than the Kevlar cord so it in case the latter does break and to keep it from over-straining. I feel 100% confident with this setup. This Kevlar cord seems very durable. It's used for 2 hours daily.
Tracy : aight
I prefer the other key back with string. I use keys constantly at work. I think this one is okay, but its to big and not long enough for my use plus I don't like the retractable chain
NJCurry : Key-Bak products are great!
This is a great little device, I’ve owned a few of these in the past plus some of the larger sized Key-Baks, and they have not done me wrong.
These little guys are great in the construction and maintenance fields as they can be used to hold pencils, markers, small LED flashlights at less than an arms length away and really whatever you can think of. I’ve also put a small microfiber towel on the end and attached with a brass grommet so I could have a quick lens wipe handy on my pack while out hunting.
Another use for winter months is that these make a great ski lift ticket retractor.
SAM : Strong
Husband is foreman on asphalt crew and it holds at least 20 keys, with no problem.
DRTII : Love This Product But Both Are Now Useless
I ordered the 2 pack over a year ago and the first one managed to break (the retractable line) within 3 months. The second one lasted almost a year but yesterday the cloth/nylon piece that attaches to the clip and key-bak system finally ripped.
I'm serious when I say I love this product, I just wish they'd get a little more QC on it. You can certainly fix the weakest link (the cloth) and replace it with something stronger.
AA-Ron : I love this thing!
Where has this been my whole career.....just the thing I’ve needed for keys. I have the carbon fiber line with the carabiner style hook. Hooks onto belt key hook or belt loop on pants and right into front or rear pocket. I don’t like jingling keys and I didn’t want to look like I stole the janitors keys! But I wanted to be able to access/use some keys without detaching them. I wear this on duty as a city police officer so it goes through the paces daily on a duty belt in uniform and in plain clothes. So far no issues. Truth is.....even if it broke and I had to buy 2-3 of them a year? I would. I like the functionality of it that much. It’s been rock solid so far. The retraction pull is pretty strong, but you get use to it. Enough to hold a decent amount of key weight probably. I’ve tried so many things and tried to make things that did what this does over the years with limited success. Ive included a photo that gives you an idea the scale/length etc from a belt to a pocket.
DadOfThree : Very helpful
This works excellent for holding my ID, keys, and key card. I often come into school with my hands full and with this clipped securely to my messenger bag I can simply reach with one hand to gain access to the building and my room without giving myself a pat-down looking for the right key. It is very sturdy and has enough reach to stretch from my 7 o'clock to the door in question, and I am a BIG guy too.
L. Gabriel G. : Bought it to hold my Sekonik 858D meter and so far it is doing great!
I will update if anything changes but so far, it is doing a great job keeping my Sekonic safe during photoshoots while allowing me to have quick access to it.
Luis Vega : So far so good
So far so good I've bought a few of different brand in the past and they have all broke but so far this one has held up
big fish : stitching came out
stitching came out of material while fishing, lost clip and NEW trout net. Not happy! 2nd time out fishing with it.
D Medina : Broke after 3 months of weekly use
I loved this key holder as it was exactly what I was looking for, but today the key ring snapped from the holder during use after only three month of weekly use. I've had other, bulkier badge holders last me at least two years.
Not sure if I should by another or just switch to a different product.
So it was great while it lasted
Antoinette : Feels sturdy but poorly glued together.
After two months the plastic started to break down causing the wire to create a breakdown in the plastic from rubbing against it.
Jason : Works Poorly the just Breaks altogether
This ratcheting key chain never worked very well from the start. Trying to get your keys to ratchet/wind back in often took many trys fooling around with pulling and releasing. Finally, today, it just stopped working and stayed stuck with cord extended and would not rewind at all.
Summer : Durable great product. Be better than the boss.
I totally enjoy having a better key holder than my fellow coworkers. My girl friend and me both work retail and have to carry the keys all the time. Everyone said I can’t believe you paid $20 for a key ring until they seen how well they last through every day use.
Jonathan : All I wanted was durability
I was impressed with this product for the first three months, but was disappointed when the outer black casing cracked open. This caused the waistband clip to come undone. I thought it was perhaps because I had accidentally crushed it at some point so I decided to buy this product again...
AND Within one week the waistband clip had completed come apart. I was honestly expecting something sturdy and durable but got a somewhat cheap product. I can’t say it was a horrible product because I did abuse the first one quite a bit, but how the heck can I justify buying the same product three times in a year?? I wish I could get my money back for my second purchase or get a new one for free because this left me upset. Doubt I will ever buy this brand again.
Dave Oden : This is a very sturdy, trouble-free retractable key-holder.
This is the 2nd KEY-BAK SECURIT XD Retractable Key Holder that I have purchased. The slip-on clip model came off my belt a few times, so I replaced it with this more secure locking belt-loop model. I need to unlock doors/cabinets multiple times per day and this holder keeps my keys near and quickly accessible without snagging or having to take them off my belt each time. I keep my Harley key on this holder, which works much better and more secure than shoving it into my pocket each time. The 28" Kevlar Cord is surprisingly strong and ... quiet; I don't know why, but I prefer this over the chain option, because it seems to work smoother and is nearly silent. Personal idiosyncrasy. I highly recommend this key-holder: the quality is surprising and the price excellent.
Romanyah : The key chain fell apart on the 1st day of use.
I ordered the key chain in Oct 2017. Today, I decided to use it. It was only holding 4 keys. OMG. The spoiler came apart. The top of the holder cracked. The keys fell to the ground. Thank goodness I heard the keys fall to the ground. Sadly yesterday, I ordered two more. I will return them once they are delivered. I am not a rough person. I used the keyholder for 4hours today. Honestly, this was my first day using the product. My goodness, who knew! Prayerfully, none of you will have the same experience.
DeeAnne : A great product
Very sturdy and easy to pull out and retract back. This was the best solution to keeping my ID badge secure and on my belt. I will buy this again

EXO : GREAT ITEM FOR PRICE
Work as a mail carrier for post office and take my keys out many times a day, getting in and out of vehicle, opening mail boxes, opening back of vehicle, etc. This item has yet to break on me and makes accessing my keys alot easier since I'm required to carry a satchel that gets in the way of my pockets. Great price and quality.
vom357 : dont count on it
first the webbing strap broke so i attached with a metal ring
this am the whole connector to the wire just came off
lucky i didnt lose my keys
worse than nothing
way worse
Willie : Excellent update for keychain belt clip!!!
I was skeptical about the carbon fiber filament but the product is a great product and works well.....
Birdblack : Tough string, not so tough casing.
After repeated use the string started cutting through the plastic casing, also was hoping it would have been smaller, I was wrong. Two stars for the quality.
Tracy : aight
I prefer the other key back with string. I use keys constantly at work. I think this one is okay, but its to big and not long enough for my use plus I don't like the retractable chain
TM : Kevlar cord broke
Bought this before Christmas, Kevlar cord snapped and retracted all the way in. Didn't last 8 months of light use.
SLittle : WOW Strong:^)
For a device to hold (2) keys it has a very strong resistance which is awesome. Didn't realize till I got it that it is designed for a lot of keys:^) But I am thrilled and love it.

NCHAPPYDADDY : Industrial Grade!!!
I work in the Chemical industry. My work requires me to carry three LOTO locks on me at all times while in the plant. This was the perfect solution. The three keys stay on the key ring and the locks on the clip. The retracting reel makes it easy to keep everything together nice and compact while still maintaining easy access to the keys for unlocking the locks that have been placed on the equipment or machinery.
Steven : I'm amazed by this product and I couldn't imagine a day ...
I hold wrenches and keys on this guy. After several months of abuse, this still holds up. I'm amazed by this product and I couldn't imagine a day of work without it.
J.D : Kevlar string cut through polycarbonate case
I am a maintenance technician for Amazon and do use my keys and badges frequently, probably on average about 50 times a shift. Have had the xtreme duty for about a year. The pull was a little too strong for the amount of weight that i had on it, but overall really liked the product up until a couple days ago, when to my amazement the kevlar string snapped. Apparently over time the string started to cut into the polycarbonate case from slightly angled pulls on the lanyard. I didnt realize this until the string snapped from the sharp edge of the cut case. This defect could have been avoided by a simple metal eyelet installed to guide the string on angled pulls, instead of the tough kevlar string slowly cutting through the case until it failed. Bak claims the spring is good for 1 million pulls, I was no where near this amount when the string failed from a defective case design. For 20 bucks, I would have hoped for a longer service life.

Linda L. Mason : I can find the keys
Just got a new car and wanted to never find lost keys. It's great to attach to purse or my jeans. The only one thing I wished it had was a stopper pulling back to prevent constant pulling. It is strong and easy to use otherwise.
ak317 : It's big, definitely big
I purchased the chain version of the Key-Bak Secureit and when I opened the package, I realized just how long it is when you clip it to your pants belt loop and attached a few keys to it. What I've done to make it not so obvious is to put it on my hip and stick the keys into my pants pocket. The metal chain is just like your old school retractable key chains with that classic sound when you pull it out and pull it back in, and has great retraction strength to pull your key ring completely back; no sluggishness when retracting too. Just to add, the key ring is a little bit big (1 1/8th diameter); you should have some other size rings handy.
whatever : broken in under a year. :(
I bought this product on 24 February 2019 and had the Kevlar cord brake off the plastic key holder tip on 29 November 2019. I believe the cord tension was too strong for that plastic key holding tip which is why broke off while retracting. don't buy a 20oz tension cord stick to a 8oz.
Denise : Great tension, easy to pull out.
I carry a very heavy set of keys at work and this keeps them snug, no give at all. It's still easy to pull when I need to use them, though, so win/win.
