Answer: Yes you can. Makes great beef jerky so it will do the same for venison.
Answer: Yes! You may have to adjust thickness of meat and lenght of drying time; but, it is possible to make great jerky!

This product only lasted 3 months for me. Return it if possible, junk. Never got my money back from them.
Answer: YES the safety cover is not over the heater element, the popping is most likely the fan hitting some trash plastic.

The listing says it's a dehydrator and 5 trays (as pics show), description section says "2 herb trays and 2 roll trays." How many come with it? Thx

Product reviews of Rosewill Countertop Portable Electric Machine Food Fruit Dehydrator
SunneShynne : Excellent product
I waited a few months before giving a review... This product works excellently to this point.. Would recommend... I used it for my dried candied snacks
Rachel : Love It
I have a rabbit, and finding dried fruits without extra sugar or other chemicals added is difficult. I tried drying some fruit in the oven, but that didn't work out, so I got this.
While the little instruction booklet is kinda in broken English, it's easy to figure out what they are trying to say. It included drying times for most types of fruit, but some I have had to time myself to get them dried well enough.
I'm not sure why some people said it didn't get hot enough. The outside is warm to the touch, and I can pickup all the trays and handle them without burning myself, but I also wasn't expecting the temperature to be as hot as it says. I just rotate the trays of fruit every hour or so and they seem to dry just fine. The bottom tray is always the warmest, which is why I rotate the trays, that way they sort of evenly dry out.
It works for what I need it to do, it's simple to use and to clean as well.
Brady K. : Good value, does the trick.
This did the trick, good price
J. Jelinek : Drys PLA
Drys PLA 3d printing filament quite well.
Amanda Ratcliff : Easily breaks apart
After having this dehydrator for only a couple of months, the trays started breaking apart. I don’t know why but when I would pick up a tray, even gently, it would crack and break apart. Wish these trays would last longer... we were really enjoying dehydrating foods.
S Warren : Great value
Gear product does exactly what I needed to do. Temperature pretty accurate haven’t had to go above 130 though. Says dishwasher safe I would NOT recommend putting the trays in. They came out warped still usable but no longer a sturdy stacked seal. Luckily I only put 2 in but Bc of this I gave it 4 stars Bc they are not easy to clean thoroughly by hand.
J. Edward : Nice little food dehydrator
If you are not doing industrial-scale food dehydration this is a great unit for home use. The stacking tray cylindrical design is easy to load, restack top to bottom to dry uniformly, and to clean. Fan is quiet. Temperature setting appears to be accurate. Drying time of fruits was consistent with numerous online sources for fruit-dehydrating info and recommendations. Not sure why anyone would pay higher prices for other dehydrators when this one works so well.
Donna : Terrible product. Cannot use.
I am VERY disappointed in this product. I want to return it. It takes WAY TOO LONG to dehydrate food. Has been running for two days to get some okra and some basil. Still not Dry. I was doing better with drying food in oven. It's eating up electricity and not completing the job. Please advise how to return this product to Amazon.
Dani Dino : Works for drying 3d printing filament!
I don't use this for dehydrating food, but I use it to dry my 3d printing filament. For that purpose it works really well and was an excellent price. The temperature control seems to work fairly well and it really has improved my print quality with PETG and nylon filaments.
SunneShynne : Excellent product
I waited a few months before giving a review... This product works excellently to this point.. Would recommend... I used it for my dried candied snacks
Leo : Great dehydrator
I find that this is a great beginner dehydrator. I use for herbs and I love it. It’s quiet and easy to clean, with on and off and temperature indicator.
Amazon Customer : Horrible product and company
I liked how it dehydrated my fruit until the heating coil went out and stopped working. Then tried to get ahold of the company to see about replacemant parts or replacing it. The compay never contacted me back to help or anything. Bunch of ass holes. Dont get this product. The coil stopped working after 2 months of purchase.
caitlin : I tried strawberries (which are NOT in the guide) because ...
I tried strawberries (which are NOT in the guide) because that is the ONLY reason I bought this and it didn't work. It didn't seem to get hot enough.
Michelle Hartman : Does not do what it says it will
It took 2 days just make gummy out of fruit, never crisped
Robert S : Does the drying job well.
Used asap. Very quiet. Made beef jerky. It held about 2.5 lbs of meet and had dry in 6 hours. Does it's job
Sean Sheff : but it is useless.
This thing does not heat up at all. It states on the machine that it goes to 180 degrees F, but it only gets to 120F. I was going to use it as a filament dryer, but it is useless.
Michelle Hartman : Does not do what it says it will
It took 2 days just make gummy out of fruit, never crisped
Unhappy in Paradise : Trays are made of plastic, easily cracks then break.
I dislike that I’ve had this appliance less than two months when the trays started to crack on the sides then break. The bottom of the trays are falling out. This allows the food to drop through the tray to the next level. The start button is hard to push, a person has to hold the machine to turn it off or on.
Donna : Terrible product. Cannot use.

Mike Hodge : cracked tray after 4 uses
I would not buy again. After 5 months 3 trays are cracked and can’t be used. Unable to buy new trays.
Dan : Great deal
Is as described. I find it works very well, better than I expected. It is built better than expected. The temp control is not digital so its a lil wonky. That being said- it is consistent once you know where it needs to be. NOTE....If you buy extra trays or tray accessories really pay attention to sizes. Similar dehydrators may look the same but will not fit without modifications
Heath Smith : Doesn't heat up. Don't buy!
You ever realize how you don't see the bad reviews till you go to write your own? Like others on here that I somehow missed before, my unit doesn't heat up. It takes forever for it to simply dry itself after rinsing. My return window has closed but I would have sent this back had infested it as soon as I got it. Buyer beware!
E.R. : Works great for tea ingredients!
I bought this to dry fruits and herbs for making teas, and it does a great job! I played around with the temperatures and times, with each item. The suggested temps and times in the booklet are a good place to start, but if you have time to check on it every hour or so, things can dry a bit faster. Strawberries and peaches took the longest amount of time, but well worth it! I also dried mint leaves, lavender, and lemon balm leaves. I'd suggest only drying on thing at a time, or the flavors tend to mix. And cleaning fruit bits and juice off the trays isn't super easy, but soaking them in warm water helps a lot. Easy to assemble and store. 5/5 would recommend!!
Aaron Ellis : Works great to dry 3d printing filaments
Works great to dry 3d printing filaments
Tom Allseits : Excellent
Tried once and worked great
Victoria L. Payne : Dehydration
Light weight works great
BrinVlogs : Never goes past 127 degrees
Giving this dehydrator 3 stars because it kinda works. Even though the temperature range is 95-158 it never goes past 127 on the bottom tray and a little over 100 on the top tray. It’s good for fruit and vegetables but I wouldn’t use it to do meat jerky. I got it for $35 so wasn’t expecting the world. I will buy a commercial one next time. If you want to try dehydrating then this will work but if you want something better skip this one.
Timothy Smith : SO AWESOME ????!
I sliced around 5-6 apples sprinkled some cinnamon and I can't stop eating them. Beef jerky is next. I'll keep you posted on it's job!
Rachel : Love It

customer 5492053 : using this to dry 3d printing filament
Tested the temps before drying any filament. My unit get very accurate and consistent temps (measured with several thermapens) throughout the enclosed volume. It does take about 20-30 min for temps to stabilize, but once there the temps only varied +/-3deg F for 11hrs. That's good enough for my intended purpose.
Pedro Mendoza : Good size.
Good size.
Tomv : 21 bell peppers dehydrated in 3 days!
Love the dehydrator - added two trays from my old one, which had no temperature control and no fan - have to admit it was over 30 years old. This new one is a gem, will use it a lot!
Kyle Minchokovich : Bad out of the box.
Recieved it in the mail today. Took it out of the box and set it up. Turned it on and left it for 2 hours. When I came back to check on it, it was still blowing cold air. Apparently, it seems to have a faulty heating element. Guess that's what you get for $30. I just expected something that worked the way it was supposed to from an "Amazon's Choice" product.
campbell : Great great buy
Love this! The temperature control is great- have done fruit, peels, and beef jerky many times. Have actually done jerky so many times on this diffuser my neighbors tried it and asked for a bag for Christmas. It has been my favorite thing to make on it. Easy to clean, everything comes out nicely and is easy to wipe down. The only one vice it has, if you even consider this a problem, is I just moved with the family and the cabinets in our new home are smaller. This is the only thing I own that is so big that can’t fit in my cabinets! Haha! I have to stash this little guy at the top of the pantry. It’s pretty wide, though I’m sure there are bigger ones out there, it’s a good sized dehydrater. I recommend it.
Genel Wright : the trays are extremely fragile!
The dehydrator itself is very easy to use. The trays are another matter. They are extremely fragile and even though I used a soft bottle brush to gently clean them, they broke in my hand..now all of them are broken. :(

yates7265 : Trays DO need to be rotated.
I used this product to make jerky, dried fruits and dried herbs. It was a bit loud and a total pain to clean. It did in fact need the trays rotated as the bottom got too dry and the top still wet. But if you watch it, and have a dishwasher then it works Good.

Scott : Does not heat past 120F
I bought this as a 3D Filament dryer. I put a thermometer inside to track the temperature. Even at its highest setting, it will not heat past 120F. This is not hot enough to work for drying 3D Filaments.
Not Surprised : Works to Dry 3D Printer Fliament
After minor modification, the Rosewill dehydrator worked well for drying 3D printer filament. I am able to fit two standard rolls in the dehydrator easily. Modification for 3D filament is easy and instructions are available on the internet. I also use it to dry my silica gel for filament storage. I found that the temperature selection dial is not that accurate, but is as accurate as would be needed for food dehydrating. I use an external temperature meter to verify the actual temperature, I may add PID control in the future. For filament drying, I consider it perfect. I have never tried to dehydrate food with it, but I'd expect it to do quite well.
Scott : Does not heat past 120F

K. McClellan : Not built to last
I really liked this at first, but after using it for just over a month the motor has started to make a vibrating sound. It just past the return window. I hope it doesn't mean the motor is going to stop working.
Update: It ended up lasting just over a year. I only used it about once every two weeks. Then the motor starting making a high pitched sound and a burning smell, so I turned it off and it will be going in the garbage. I'm very disappointed. I had hoped this would last much longer.
Elaine : I shouldnt have ordered this
I returned it after I read that electric heat drying destroys vitamins. I shouldn't have ordered it not free return.
Elizabeth M. : Does what it's supposed to do
Love it! I've used it for strawberries, blueberries, beef jerky, apples, etc. And I can leave them in a bowl on the counter for those with the munchies to grab while they wait for dinner.
kelley oneal : Pre-mature dehydrator
Probably the best dehydrator I have ever owned as far as quick-drying and ease of use. The problem is it broke down in about 3 months. I make a lot of jerkey, about one batch a week, but a 3 month lifespan is pretty bad, no matter how cool the product is/worx
Gretchen : Rotate the racks for great beef jerky
Works great
Bradford Needham : Perfect for restoring 3D printing filament
I'd read a few posts on using food dehydrators to restore (dehydrate) 3D printing filament that had absorbed moisture from the air. I bought this one and tried it out - it worked perfectly, restoring several reels of filament that I thought were unusable. All I had to do was cut the center of each try out (except the bottom tray) to make room for the reel of filament. I found the temperature control keeps the temperature constant enough to not overheat my filament.
A12 : Not sufficient
I used this to dry up some herbs, it took 17 hours to what I thought it dried!
Went to use the herbs yesterday and they were full of mold all over them!!!!!! I had to throw all my hard work for the year in the trash!!!! Lost all my herbs even after 17 hours of drying!!
