Answer: I heard this sound as well, its your heater kicking on. Unfortunately this product did not work well for me. The RMA number was good for only a week before they say its no its good anymore. This product only lasted 3 months for me. Return it if possible, junk. Never got my money back from them.

Answer: Didn't try bacon but I did temperature check on lower and upper rack highest temperature was 139 lower rack (hottest level) so I doubt it. Maybe after 20 hours but yuck.

Answer: Yes, you can. I would suggest that you only replace racks as the system is optimally set. Not sure what the effect of adding more racks would have.

Answer: It did come with 5 trays, and each tray can hold another kind of tray as well to adapt it to do more, hence the 2 herb trays and 2 roll trays. So you really DO get 5 and 2 and 2. :) I would recommend buying more of the insert trays when purchasing this dehydrator, or make your own out of plastic canvas like I did.

Is as described. I find it works very well, better than I expected. It is built better than expected. The temp control is not digital so its a lil wonky. That being said- it is consistent once you know where it needs to be. NOTE....If you buy extra trays or tray accessories really pay attention to sizes. The dehydrator itself is very easy to use. The trays are another matter. They are extremely fragile and even though I used a soft bottle brush to gently clean them, they broke in my hand..now all of them are broken. :(

While the little instruction booklet is kinda in broken English, it's easy to figure out what they are trying to say. It included drying times for most types of fruit, but some I have had to time myself to get them dried well enough.
I'm not sure why some people said it didn't get hot enough. The outside is warm to the touch, and I can pickup all the trays and handle them without burning myself, but I also wasn't expecting the temperature to be as hot as it says. I just rotate the trays of fruit every hour or so and they seem to dry just fine. The bottom tray is always the warmest, which is why I rotate the trays, that way they sort of evenly dry out.
It works for what I need it to do, it's simple to use and to clean as well.

The trays are made with a hard clear plastic with low ductility, so I did crack one of the trays when cutting out the center but that was my own fault for trying to go too fast. The temperature settings on the dial aren't exact, but they're close. Like others, I used a barbecue temperature probe to check the temperature and was close enough to not cause alarm. Temperatures are also very stable once it levels out. There is a slight noise from the internal fan moving air through the drying chamber; this isn't a con for me, but it does need to be mentioned as some reviews have made it clear that they were expecting a completely silent unit. Overall I'm happy with both units and if either fails, will not hesitate to buy another.

Good product. Did great with jerky and grapes. I give it a 4 because the heat escapes and uses more energy and requires longer dehydration times. Next time I'll be buying a box version. It's the item itself that is the issue. Product was greatly packaged, and clean upon delivery.

I liked how it dehydrated my fruit until the heating coil went out and stopped working. Then tried to get ahold of the company to see about replacemant parts or replacing it. The compay never contacted me back to help or anything. Bunch of ass holes. Dont get this product. The coil stopped working after 2 months of purchase.

I'm returning my second dehydrator. 4 of the 5 trays cracked and separted from the lips of the trays after only my second use. I retuned the first dehydrator because one of the trays was missing about 2 inches of the lip and was cracked. Poor quality and I have the hassle of doing another return.

Not Surprised : Works to Dry 3D Printer Fliament
After minor modification, the Rosewill dehydrator worked well for drying 3D printer filament. I am able to fit two standard rolls in the dehydrator easily. Modification for 3D filament is easy and instructions are available on the internet. I also use it to dry my silica gel for filament storage. I found that the temperature selection dial is not that accurate, but is as accurate as would be needed for food dehydrating. I use an external temperature meter to verify the actual temperature, I may add PID control in the future. For filament drying, I consider it perfect. I have never tried to dehydrate food with it, but I'd expect it to do quite well.

While the little instruction booklet is kinda in broken English, it's easy to figure out what they are trying to say. It included drying times for most types of fruit, but some I have had to time myself to get them dried well enough.
I'm not sure why some people said it didn't get hot enough. The outside is warm to the touch, and I can pickup all the trays and handle them without burning myself, but I also wasn't expecting the temperature to be as hot as it says. I just rotate the trays of fruit every hour or so and they seem to dry just fine. The bottom tray is always the warmest, which is why I rotate the trays, that way they sort of evenly dry out.
It works for what I need it to do, it's simple to use and to clean as well.
Calvin : Good for dehydrating filament, although fan can be a little loud
I purchased this, like most people, for dehydrating my 3D printing filament and it works well. Do note I made my own "tray" to allow me to run the filament out from the dehydrator and to the printer while saving the original trays in case I want to use it as originally intended! I did knock a star off since not long after purchasing the fan inside did get a bit louder, although it still functions just fine, it is a little annoying! Overall still a good deal and it has more than paid for itself in keeping PVA, Nylon and PETG filament dry during critical prints.
EraLeta C. : Too hot to handle
After using it about three or four times the racks started to crack, Became brittle, and ending up breaking apart. I contacted Amazon and they were supposed to contact the company but nobody got back with me. All my racks are broken and they do not work now because it could not withstand the suggested temperature in the directions apparently.

I liked how it dehydrated my fruit until the heating coil went out and stopped working. Then tried to get ahold of the company to see about replacemant parts or replacing it. The compay never contacted me back to help or anything. Bunch of ass holes. Dont get this product. The coil stopped working after 2 months of purchase.
Leo : Great dehydrator
I find that this is a great beginner dehydrator. I use for herbs and I love it. It’s quiet and easy to clean, with on and off and temperature indicator.
Amanda Ratcliff : Easily breaks apart
After having this dehydrator for only a couple of months, the trays started breaking apart. I don’t know why but when I would pick up a tray, even gently, it would crack and break apart. Wish these trays would last longer... we were really enjoying dehydrating foods.

Charles : work just fine if you finagle around with them
These units are cheap but, work just fine if you finagle around with them. For instance, you have to rotate the trays to get your product to come out at the same time. I set the thermostat on 140 and inserted my thermometer in the top vent hole only to get a reading of around 112. The reading was taken 30 minutes after I started the unit. To get my cayenne peppers to dry I had to max out the temp setting along with rotating the trays and the total time was about 18 hours. This unit is only 250 watts so, if you are looking to do something heavy duty (like cayenne peppers) I would suggest a higher wattage unit.

The dehydrator itself is very easy to use. The trays are another matter. They are extremely fragile and even though I used a soft bottle brush to gently clean them, they broke in my hand..now all of them are broken. :(
