Is this suitable to use on flounder?

Answer: Flounder have a tiny mouth and using this would be a waste of time. You should be using a net for this fish.

I have used this for a month or so and it is a tool I take every time I fish now. It works really well for holding and measuring the fish. This was well worth the money I paid for it and would recommend it. I don't have the scale on this to be very helpful and would not use it to weigh your fish. I mainly bought it for two reason to hold fish that have larger teeth (aka the chain pickerel in the picture) and to measure the length of the fish. It performed both of these perfectly.

The product works well especially for the price. I have caught, held, and weighed bass in excess of 8lbs and catfish in excess of 20lbs. The product has held up completely. The tape measure that comes with it starts to peel off and starts to rust on the edge after two days of using it. They should just use a nylon type tape measure instead of metal. Overall it is OK to use and the fisherman around me are very impress on the features. Weigh scale, tape measure and lip gripper all in one.

Purchased this lip gripper for my annual fall fishing trip. So far, this gripper has stood up to many 30-40 pound striped bass from the Long Island sound (salt water fishing). Easy to use: Just open the grip, release it, and it's not going anywhere! It's small, lightweight, and gets the job done. There is the added bonus of the weight and tape measure too. So far so good- it's taking a beating and keeps on going... Will update when I have successes or problems.
UPDATE: the tape measure is rusting, but the lip grabber is still holding up. Washed with fresh water after each salt water use, and put up through the winter with some WD-40 sprayed on it and seems to be holding up. Will definitely update in the fall!

The product works for what I wanted. It grips fish as advertised. The weight scale will put you in the ball park but the ruler once extended is difficult to retract. When you are holding a fish with the gripper and use the ruler to measure the length of the fish you must release the fish and use both hands to feed the ruler back into its case.

This was a great addition to my kayak since I hate using nets from it. First day I brought it with me I caught a decent Largemouth, and it was so much easier to grab the Lip Gripper that was hanging from my fishing vest. It had a very good grip on the fish, and I was able to unhook it very easily. Releasing the fish was just as easy. The tape measure is dead on from the end of the metal hook part. It is a little hard to see the scale, both when cloudy and sunny. I haven't tested the scale against another scale so I can't comment on that part. Overall it was a great purchase.

Does a great job holding on and not letting go until you want it to. Scale is eh, and haven't tried the tape measure while holding a fish yet. Wish it was digital, but it was cheap so oh well. These have saved my fingers many times.
If you fish Northerns or Muskies these are a must. They do a great job holding the fish in place while you unhook and/or measure it.

I'm not sure of the science or pain or whatever is behind these but they do seem to keep the fish from thrashing around the boat hurting itself, or you which is a nice bonus. They seem fairly calm once you have these clipped on. I'm sure that big 55" Muskie that's waiting for me someday will prove this theory wrong. So far this has held up well for the few smaller ones I've caught.

I'm not a huge fan of the scale in the handle. If you're keeping the fish its probably fine. I wouldn't hold up a bigger fish by the jaw like this though. Not if you're planning on putting it back.

I'd also advise against using them in a softer mouthed fish like a walleye. I made that mistake once and these pushed right through. On a northern pike and a muskie or two, they've been life savers.

I don't think they float so I always, always use the wrist strap because I don't like buying things twice hahaha.

As for the action on thse, they open pretty easily and smoothly. They seem to be well built and feel like they're going to last.

I like the feel of the product. It fits well in the hand and the gripping part works well but I tried to get a wait on a 10lb flathead catfish she flipped twice and broke the scale. It's not very durable. " Update " Piscifun contacted me and replaced the gripper for free. I explained to them that they need a better stop in the handle so that the spring cannot be over extended. They said they would try and fix it.

I have only used this for 5 or 6 fishes. Gripper works great. I would give 5 star to the gripper but 1 star to retractable tape measure and the scale. First off tape measure works but it gets stuck and hard to pull it out or put it back in, then the scale is not giving exact weight. Scale gets stuck and doesn’t want to flex. If you want to get all three combined, I would rethink about buying this. Instead I would buy each one separate from some where else.

I was looking for a cheap gripper and wanted one that went past 15lbs max like my old one. For the money I was please with the quality and tape measure. The scale seems like it holds up better then other comparable grippers. I would have given it 5 stars but my tape measure rusted after the first fish I tried it on, but it still works just doesn’t recoil as well.

I have tried it with small fish, bass and larger catfish and it fits the bill, so if you are looking for grippers that don’t break the bank I would highly recommend.

What a nice tool. It really has everything you need for recording your fishing catches. You can quickly grab the fish out of the water without hurting it, weigh it, and measure its length. It is not extremely large and easily fits into the tackle box.

It wont last. Mine stopped gripping and started staying open on its own in a few months and probably about 6 fish. Almost lost a 30lbs striper because of this thing. Dont trust it.
