Any reason to take this off of your smoker while smoking? Have a MB electric can i just put it on the top of the smoker and forget it?

Answer: I LOVED it when I got it. It is magnetic soooo where did I put it??? On the smoker/grill. A week or so later I fired the grill up. Awhile later I went out to check on it and found my smoking guide all bubbly and discolored. I had made the fatal mistake of not thinking things through. Being a patio I figured it had to go on the grill, I mean what the (^$%*) else am I going to stick it to??? Tactical error on my part. DO NOT PUT IT ON A GRILL, SMOKER - - ANY HEAT SOURCE!!!!!! Again it was my bad in not having other magnitized surfaces and thinking it was made to put there for referance.

Answer: Yes! The only thing I would say the Meat Smoking Guide is not resistant to is EXTREME heat. I don't think it would ever have a problem sitting out in the sun, but if you throw it on your actual smoking pit it will start to melt. I still put mine on my smoker, just on the pellet box instead of the pit.

Answer: Yes it is waterproof. It is made to be stuck on your BBQ or smoker. I am lucky in that I have a covered patio that I use, so I don't have to worry about the sun fading it. I just got it so I'm not sure how the sun would affect it.

Answer: It's intended for smokers but if you are grilling with indirect heat then the (internal ) temperature chart should be correct . The meat /wood pairing is generic

Answer: Looking at the chart;venison is not mentioned. Mentioned fish,turkey and chicken.It reads "to avoid drying meat,don't cook past target temp". Take it from there...Hope it helps

I bought this as a gift for a good friend that loves to smoke BBQ. I was primarily interested in the effect of different types of woods on different meats. This magnet fit the bill. It seems to be adequately strong, so I am confident that it will stay on his smoker. The printing seems durable, I suspect it can weather the elements, but will last longer if covered when not in use. It also has meat temperature guidelines and even some tips for those temperatures. i.e. "Cook at 225 for 30 minutes, raise to 325 until target temp achieved".

I could see where it might fade if left in the sun, but I would expect that with anything left in the sun.
