Questions about Angler'S Choice Oval Notch Fight Belt
Q:
The description says you can remove the gimbal. Can anyone clarify? Also, what is the inner diameter of the oval? My rod's buttcap is 2" (big).
Answer: Hi Fremon,
Answer: I use a 2" Rod as well. I found it was better for me to remove the gimbal completely so that the rod slipped to the bottom of the of the oval which gave me better control.
Answer: The I.D. is 2 1/2" the only parts that can be removed are the bolt and the belt.
Answer: You can definitely remove the gimbal. I dont have the product where I am so I cant clarify the size.
Answer: The gimbal is just a nut and bolt that you can take out. As to the buttcap, is 2" the diameter or the circumference?
Answer: yes it can be removed. Hope this helps
Q:
Will this accommodate a 2" rod butt?
Answer: I measured the inside diameter (sorta "rounded" pentagon) and a 2-inch butt will fit...very snugly...cuz the bottom of the "pentagon" has rounded corners and measures about 1 7/8" each side. Measuring from the top straight down center, you have more than enough room. Approximately center horizontally, you have about 2 inches, but again, the left and right bottom sides are a skoash less than 2 inches. The cup is angled downward and maybe if you used a dremel to shave a bit of plastic on those sides, it would fit...snugly. Hope that helps.
Q:
will it fit a 46 inch waist
Answer: Yes it will fit. It fits up to 52 inch waist. I am a 44 waist and it has room to spare.
Answer: Yes and more
Q:
How big is one size fits all
Answer: There's a lot of strap and velcro so one can adjust for your particular waist size. It saves the gonads when fighting a fish especially when using a longer or heavier rod. It's not made for real heavy duty standup fishing however, for the price, hard to beat.
Answer: I measures mine allowing a 4" overlap of the Velcro fastener and I came out with a circumference measurement of 54".
Q:
What waist sizes will it fit ????
Answer: I bought it when I had a 36" waist and when I hit my max size of a 42" waist it still fit me. Probably can go bigger as well.
Answer: Does definitely fit a 35-38 inch waist.
Answer: Doubt it will work well below 32. Has plenty of belt for 36 and up.
Answer: It's adjustable. I'd say 25" to 40"
Q:
Would this work for resting a surf spinning rod while fishing and reeling in... in the surf?
Answer: Good question. Although I don't use it for "resting" my rod when surf fishing I do use it for "reeling" in the big fish especially those that want to run and go to the bottom. It has been a good investment for me and I have enjoyed using it. I still "rest" my rod in a PVC V-cut path with about 4 foot buried deep in the sand. Hope this helps.
Answer: I think it would be fine. It's a good rest/pivot. For the money it's not bad
Answer: Yes it would, it was pretty good quality, especially for the price.
Answer: Yes but not hands free.
Q:
can you remove the gimbel?
Answer: no
Answer: I'm not sure what you are asking.
Q:
Did your belt come with a stainless pin? The one I received came with a zinc coated bolt and lock nut.
Answer: No mine came with the zinc plated bolt and nut as well.
Answer: Yes mine came the same with the zinc coating .I uused it a couple tomes...no issues works great. Going to use it again soon
Answer: To be honest I have no idea what its made of but it's a bolt and lock nut
Answer: looks like stainless. I have used it a lot and have no rust.
Answer: I have no idea what metal is on that thing! What difference could itake to YOU?
Answer: No way.
Product reviews of Angler'S Choice Oval Notch Fight Belt
Clay Glover : this could be a good fit.
Just OK fighting belt frankly, but price is proportionate. The belt I received is extra large for some reason, belt size is for 38" -48" waists, no kidding, on the belt I received. I don't know if it was cut wrong or what but I'm a 34" waist and this belt is waaay to big for me. Was hoping it would fit my kids, no chance, wife? no chance. I'll have to have it modified to even use it.
If you wear 40"+ pant size, this could be a good fit.
Lamarsh : Awesome quality for the money, but probably won't fit waists under 30" very well
Holy smokes what a solid product for under $20, and it's made in the USA! I'm a smaller guy, with a 30" waist, and I get it about as small as it will go, so if you're any smaller than me I'd find something else.
Amazon Customer : Three Stars
It meets the criteria for what I am using it for. Halibut and rock fish. In Oregon
lynoitte : No more Bruises!
Loved it! Have been deep sea fishing many times and came home with some nice fish and lots of bruises. After a day of wearing the fight belt on an 8 hour fishing trip I still brought home around 25 nice Mingo and white snapper- no bruises!!!
L. G. W. : Not stainless
Unfortunately, they didn't supply a stainless steel bolt so be prepared to replace it if you don't want the one to rust in saltwater.

good for the price spent
Lisa Nagy : Protects the important areas!
Works but kinda not the most comfortable thing to wear around. Luckily it can be put on quickly if you hit a fish.Keeps you from smashing the family jewels.

Leland Darryl Armstrong : Highly recommended and works great
Superior product. remove the screw and bolt so the pole handle can slide in to the back of the holder. On my first use landed a 5'11" black-tipped shark that weighed around 100 lbs.. Great product with no flaws. We expect to be using this every year when we fish. We annually fish for large saltwater fish right from the bank of our island. In the past, landing a big one was bruising to certain areas of our old body. This belt prevents that and helps to keep you from tiring too quickly.

Inexpensive. But held up well on my 4 days fishing for Yellow Tail and Tuna in San Diego to Mexico. The center gimbal pin comes handy if your rod has the notch to sit on it, prevents the rod from twisting in your hand as you crank the spool. I caught an 80 Lbs Blue Fin tuna and took 1-1/2 hour to land the fish. Caught several yellow tails too. The gimbal pin helps a lot in getting my rods steady.

Very useful when reeling in Stripers... 15 or more minutes playing the with a 25 # is not easy. But with this, stress on your hand much reduced.

I think I'm going to use this to go fight some monster sturgeon on the Columbia River in my bad boy Arima

charlez : Great for the price
Perfect for my wife and kids. We are not pros but this is perfect. Plastic is thick and hard. Easy to remove and apply. What I love is that it doesn't take so much space on boat. I can't wait to use it.
