Are they clear on one side?

Answer: They are completely clear, you can see the contents from either side.

Answer: No, but I like them better. They are clear/smooth on one side and textured on the other, just like the Foodvac brand but have been a little more durable in the freezer.

Answer: Not that I know of. However, I have never had any trouble with them sealing and they are so much less expensive. They are a nice heavy bag. I have used them a lot.

Answer: No markings or print. So good product clarity and visibility. The back panel is embossed with a pattern allowing the air to be removed, but somewhat clear.

Answer: There a very good vacuum bag. I can't image them failing or what that would look like. So no, I didn't get a protection plan. If I thought they needed it I just wouldn't get the bags in the first place.

how thick is the material

Answer: These are just as thick as any I have ordered and at a much lower price. Great deal and I have used them and they seal well.

Are these gallon or half gallon sized. You have 8" x 12" (same as gallon) but state they are half gallon?

Answer: Hi there, I just googled what size food saver bags are 8x12 and food saver and westing house both said they are pint sizes. Hope that helps.

Answer: Yes. The open side is the 8" side, although on rare occasions I wish it was the long one. I use these a lot now that it is just the two of us but I still want to take advantage of good sales and bulk deals. They are a good size for a lot of things and cheaper than the film, plus, not having to cut and make my own is kind of nice. I keep mine right by the sealer so I can grab a bag, label it, fill it, seal it, da-da-done!

The bags are thick and heavy duty. Having them pre-cut to this size is perfect for most single or double items. After opening the box tonight, I packaged 6 chicken breasts and 4 New York Strips for freezing. The price was definitely right as well, cost being less than 80% of the rolled stuff in the assorted package, with a larger quantity to use.

Do not buy if you have a FoodSaver. Unfortunately these do not vacuum seal at all. I get about 1 out of 10 vacuumed. They seal just fine but do not expect them to be vacuumed. I have used many off brands and they have all been perfect except for this one. The texture pattern is very large squares compared to other brands and I suspect that is the issue with them.

I use the vac seal a lot. These bags work as well as any, which is to say quite well.
I once blamed cheap bags for problems I was having but it's not the bags. I was doing it wrong.
If you are having trouble getting a good vacuum seal it's probably because the sealer bar has overheated from repeated use and is partially sealing the bag even before it is activated and before the machine as time to build up a good vacuum.
