Questions about Smoke Daddy Magnum P.I.G. Cold Smoke Generator
Q:
I have large smoke house (48"x72"x72").Will this guy be able to produce enough smoke for me?Thanks
Answer: I have a 36X38 X72 smoker and this unit works great with it, I would not have anything else.
Answer: Hi
Answer: I would say yes with a hot fire and the pump on high it would....the only thing I have noticed with mine is your smoker needs good circulation to get that pretty smoke color other wise it can be that yellowish bad smoke.
Q:
Does this product support 110/220v power?
Answer: Yes we do have 220v pumps available upon request
Answer: How can i specify a 220v pump ?
Answer: just 110/120 VAC
Answer: A separate 110v air pump is needed.
Answer: Yes
Q:
will these units over smoke delicate foods in a small smoker? seller claims all units put out the same amount of smoke, any point buying smaller un
Answer: i have the magnum unit. i think it would be ok in a smaller smoker. the key is to get it burning clean with a nice blue smoke before you close up the smoker. this takes 10-15 minutes for me. then you can set the air pump real low or even unplug it for less smoke if you need to. i have been very happy with mine, but there is a small learning curve. also very good for cold smoking. the people at smoke daddy are very helpful. i have talked to dan there a couple times. they are all about customer service!!
Answer: The smoke does not last as long on smaller unites, The put out the same amount of smoke just not as long.
Answer: "bad smoke" often results from pellets that are combusting at too low of a temperature. It's tempting to think that more smoke is better but the "thin blue smoke" actually has a powerful flavor effect even though it is not so visually obvious.
Answer: I believe the bigger units just smoke for longer. Oversmoking may be a problem. I'm just starting to play with mine and have had some trouble with "bad smoke". I haven't quite figured out how to get that thin, clean smoke. I'm playing with different fuels and air amounts.
Q:
I have a pit boss lockhart platinum, would this work on it due to its size. if it will work where would be the best location to mount it?
Answer: This can work on anything the greatest invention for smoking
Answer: It might be a bit of over kill, but it would probably work
Answer: It should , I had a hard time getting mine to fit on PB 1100. I went to Lowe’s and got a gas pipe so I could get it to extend beyond the hopper
Q:
What is the air-tube size that connects to the air pump
Answer: I think 1/4 OD standard fish pump tubing
Q:
Is this the back draft model mentioned in the video
Answer: I'm not sure which video you are talking about, but it works on a venturi system,it draws extremely well and produces more smoke than any other system I have tried. I use real wood and charcoal for the best flavor. Most pellets are just sprayed with flavored oils. Just understand this is cold smoke and creates very little heat, which is a good thing. easy to use, easy to install, easy to maintain and clean. Awesome product.
Answer: all the models use an air pump . I'm not sure what you mean by the back draft model . I can say I have the big kahuna and would advise to get that one. It is the largest one they have and I love it . It works great.
Answer: I'm not sure about the video meaning back draft. I have watched the YouTube video on this product. It works great. It comes with an air pump to push the smoke into your BBQ. You don't have to turn it on unless you want a lot of smoke. I use it both ways and highly recommend this product.
Answer: Venturi, with a small air pump
Answer: Yes this is the backdraft design.
Answer: Yes it is the same as shown on the smoke Daddy website
Q:
I have a masterbuilt 40" electric smoker. would it work with it? also why can't you strictly use pellets?
Answer: Hi yes you can use it on your Masterbuilt. The use of all pellets will not burn properly in this style of smoker. It works best with a mixture of large wood chips / hunks and hard wood charcoal.
Answer: I would say the the smoke Daddy would work with your master built.
Answer: Yes it would work. Too many pellets prohibits air flow. It works great.
Answer: I put it on a Cookshack electric smoker. Works great
Answer: The enclosed pot gets air from the bottom and the pump helps direct the air flow. I tried pellets only. It seems the did not get enough air to burn on their own. I have added some to mesquite chips or wood chunks I buy them use a axe to cut them up to fit. Briquettes also don’t work as they need air. I use wood chips once it’s going I add larger wood pieces. To start the fire I stick a gas torch into the holes in the bottoms gets it smoking fast. That company makes an instruction video at their www address. It’s on YouTube as well.
Q:
If my smoke daddy usually sets the chunks on fire, how do i fix that?
Answer: Wet your wood for an hour if real chunky longer. Or the air pump has a air volume control slow it down. It’s a aquarium fish tank pump. If that does not work check out Smoke Daddy’s web site inder FAQ and ask them.
Answer: Turn the air volume down on the pump.
Q:
I have a large oaklahoma joe offset smoker. how does this thing work? do i just light it and set it in the firebox?
Answer: It is usually used with a regular grill. U make a hole in the side and mount it. Then u light the wood and a fan blows it into the grill. R u trying to create more smoke for ur smoker? It does not need an heat to work, so u can also cold smoke ah this unit. It's been great, by the way. It's very versatile and love that we can both cold and hot smoke with it.
Answer: No. You'll have to drill a 1" hole into the smoker to accommodate the pipe. https://goo.gl/photos/8ynCU2PTEcVhYYCT6
Answer: Lol no! I put mine on my traeger but to mount it you'll have to drill a hole either in the fire box or in the grill itself.
Q:
I need a longer 1 inch pipe. What kind of thread is that called?
Answer: I inch npt thread or purchase it at a home depot or lowes
Answer: pipe thread
Q:
Could more chips/chunks be added as the load burns down (or up, it seems) to extend smoking times?
Answer: Yes . You just pull off the top cover and add chunks or chips in . I recommend getting the big kahuna . It holds more chunks or chips and you will be adding more to it depending on how long you are smoking .
Answer: Yes. I just pop off the top and feed more pellets/chunks/chips to smoke nonstop for as long as you want. It’s just that easy.
Answer: Absolutely, just drop the chunks in from the top.
Answer: Yes, You can add chips/ chunks, when it is in use.
Answer: I suppose you could, but you won't need to. Properly filled, you can get 10 to 12 hours out of it.
Answer: Yes. You will generally have to
Q:
Can your product use sawdust?
Answer: We recommend using wood chips, wood chunks with a mixture of hardwood charcoal. Sawdust will just fall through the bottom screen. Thanks -Liz
Answer: At the bottom of the canister there is a screen to prevent your wood from falling through. I have used the very fine mesquite chips and it works fine. These small chips are made for little electric smokers like Big Chief smokers. Once you get the wood smoking you could add your sawdust. I use my smoke daddy all the time.
Answer: You could but the bottom is open
Answer: Yes.
Q:
What’s the best way to season this? I’m getting SO much white smoke ????
Answer: If it’s too Smokey it’s probably choking I haven’t added anything to it I have thought about adding a second coil for airflow and I use lump charcoal with wood chunks and wood chips.
Q:
Dose this come with air pump or is it an option that one can buy
Answer: It comes with an air pump
Answer: Hi, i have a smoke daddy p.i.g. the air pump was an option that I bought with the smoke daddy. You can buy it with out the air pump. The air pump is worth it.
Answer: Yes the pump comes with it
Answer: it comes with the pump
Answer: It come with the pump
Answer: Comes with pump & hose
Answer: It comes with it.
Answer: Sorry just seen this, yes it comes with the pump.
Q:
Can wood pellets be used?
Answer: Yes as long as it is accompanied with wood chips otherwise it will get too packed by itself
Answer: Yes, but you must use wood chips and chunks as well as pellets tend to swell up and can choke out.
Answer: Too many pellets prohibits air flow
Answer: yes
Q:
Can i purchase 220v via amazon? And how to purchase from amazon?
Q:
I have a rec tec 680. if i mount the smoke daddy at the chimney end, can i extend the piping inside to get smoke to start at the control (left side)?
Answer: I also have a Rec Tec 680..... I mounted the Smoke Daddy on the left side of the grill. I drilled hole under control box and used some additional 3/4" steel piping connectors to have the unit just below and in front of the controller shelf. Drill hole under shelf, use a 90 degree elbow to come forward with a 3" nipple, a 3/4" union (union makes it easy to remove unit), a 4" nipple and then the unit..... perfect location! I wanted it on the opposite side from the exhaust chimney.
Answer: The piping that comes with the unit is about 4 inches long. Once it is mounted, you could attach a pipe extension on your own. But you wouldn't be able to turn it on and off using the control, if that's what you are thinking. Once it is lit, it smokes until it runs out of wood. No on and off switch.
Answer: I would contact smoke daddy. They are awesome to deal with and very knowledgeable . I have my smoke daddy on a treager grill and LOVE IT. I do recommend the magnum .
Answer: Not sure about what the rec tec 680 is but if ur a bit me mechanically enclined enough u could make that work!
Answer: You could try that but I think it works just as well to put it in without extending it. I would try it first without extending it to see if you like it that way. Thanks.
Answer: If it's to long I think it would keep plugging up, I would try without extending,It would probably work fine.
Q:
Can i also use silicon tubing for the smoke outflow to my smoker (same or larger diametar just like on the air intake from the pump) ?
Answer: It gets pretty hot. Plus, if you use silicone tubing instead of pipe how are you going to mount it to your smoker?
Answer: I would not recommend it. There is a lot of creosote in the smoke that will condense in the low points in your hose. It could cause flow issues.
Answer: No, the temperature out would be to high.
Answer: I don't think that is a good idea as it gets very hot inside and out
Q:
Building my smoker using 10” thick pour insulated concrete forms(ICF) will I be able to adapt the smoke tube through an 11” thick wall? Gas fired/
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Try not to over think your project. The PIG doesn't have that long of a pipe outlet, but you can replace it or build an adapter easily. The real thing to consider here is the size of your smoker because the Magnum PIG produces enough smoke to support a small shed. I have it on a Masterbuilt 40" electric smoker and can only use small quantities of wood chips or the creosote gets too thick. This thing should be endorsed by Tim The Tool Man Taylor.
Answer: You will have to exte d tube
Q:
Coals are getting red hot without airpump on and visible flames. I was using pellets unit attached to mini fridge and smoke is white billowing clouds.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: wood chips work well, pellets not so much for me. i light with a torch leave both end caps off for 10 minutes or so then cap it and run the pump on low. the smoke turns more blue and works very well then. i think the pellets pack to much and prevent good air flow. just my theory
Answer: I didn’t have much luck with pellets (I also don’t think they recommended it). Try small to medium wood chunks, chips, or a mixture of both. Keep the items distanced for the smoke generator if possible as it will still create heat.
Answer: I don’t know if this will help you but what I did was NOT use pellets. I use “ pucks” of apple wood cut from a limb that has some sap in it. I also played with the air holes on the bottom cap and reduced the amount of air intake. Hope this helps.
Q:
How do I get ahold of someone to get new top and bottom lids? Mine were bent.
Answer: Call them. They are very helpful
Answer: Send it back to Amazon
Q:
How are you getting good blue smoke? It seems i get thick white smoke and I followed the directions. It seems it just smolders and not enough air.
Answer: Place air pump on max, dry chips loaded and use a propane torch to light it up from the bottom. Once smoke starts coming out the top just hold the torch on for another 30 seconds longer. Place the top lid on and assess the outlet tube. When a ridiculous amount of smoke is coming out then you did it right. I was successful in this method with and without the big spring that comes with it.
Answer: I run pump wide open I also have white smoke why do you think it should be blue? It's not a blue flame fire it's all smoke
Answer: For me the smoke is always white, but it does the job.. a lot of smoke production
Answer: I use a combination of chunks, Chips and pellets on top of my lump charcoal with the air on Med high.
Q:
Is this any different from the one with a ceramic grill adapter? Both are the same model picture shows an extra piece, but ceramic is cheaper
Answer: I do not what smoke generator you are speaking of that has a ceramic adapter. The smoke Daddy Magnum works very well and as far as I'm concerned it is well worth the money
Answer: There are different smokers for different grills it depends on what you are putting it on, I dont know why it is cheaper
Answer: looks the same as mine. i love mine. works awesome and these people are great to buy from. the customer servive on 1 t0 10 is a 12! folow instructions and light it well then give it 10 minutes or so with the bottom and top off then cap it up and adjust air flow to the smoke level you need.
Q:
What is the thread count of the 1" aluminum pipe? Id like to find a cap that i can screw on to the pipe inside the grill when im not using the smoker.
Answer: I not sure of the thread count but I just stick a cork in the pipe because it’s easier to remove.
Answer: I don’t know the tread count but it’s not necessary. If you don’t want to use it there is no difference.
Q:
Do you have to plug this in?
Answer: Yes. It uses a small air pump that needs to be plugged in.
Answer: Yes you do. Go to their web site watch the video. Easy to mount to your unit. I like extra smoke use it all the time
Answer: Yes. The system operates on a venturi effect created by the air supplied by an electric aquarium air pump.
Q:
If i fill this with mostly pellets and add some wood chips , how long should the smoke last?
Answer: I have found that the pellets don't work so well. Might be the brand of pellets I use. I have a pellet smoker and the brand I buy for it just doesn't smoke much. I use wood chips and realistically a full load of chips last about 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour. I run the compressor at max pressure. Start a charcoal briquette, put it in the bottom after it's fully lit and dump in the chips. works like a charm. Good smoke.
Answer: I get about 3 hr on low settings on the air pump, on higher settings I get about an hour to hour and 1/2
Q:
Can this be used with a gas grill?
Answer: No, Not recommended or safe with a gas grill.
Answer: I would say yes as its purpose is to add smoke to an existing grill. You drill a hole through your grill where this attaches and it adds smoke to whatever you are cooking. You light the wood chips and an electric fan circulates the smoke.
Answer: Yes but it is wood fired
Q:
If i using pellets, what % of total volume should be in wood chips?
Answer: Don’t use pellets. Use wood chips. They allow better air flow up through the body of the smoker. A couple of charcoal briquettes would be better mixed with the chips. Hope this helps.
Answer: I have found that the pellets don't work so well. I use a fully lit charcoal briquette in the bottom and then just wood chips. Great smoke.
Answer: Very low. Even with the spring inside, the pellets pack off most of the airflow. Ive found that two charcoal briquets on the botton, then wood chips and then pellets ontop of that. I would personally say that 1/4 of pellets is about right. Once it gets going, add more. Make sure there is no sawdust because it will kill all oxygen flow.
Answer: I’ve used 100% pellets with no problems.
Q:
Can this use dried Corn Cob for smoke?
Answer: I assume you could use anything that will burn for fuel. I don't know anything about corn cobs as smoker fuel. I do know that I personally do not use smoker pellets as they tend to make it necessary to clean the screen and inlet tube more often.
Answer: i DON'T KNOW, MIGHT BURN TO HOT
Q:
will this work on a traeger little tex n can you cold smoke bacon with it using the traeger little tex ?
Answer: It should work fine . You will need to drill a hole into the main cooking area in front of the hopper . That's where I put mine . You will be able to cold smoke bacon . you can run the smoke daddy with the traeger off and it will cold smoke perfect.
Answer: Yes this will work on your Traeger and works great to smoke bacon, cheese, nuts, ect...
Answer: I don't see why not, with the understanding that you will have to drill into your grill to install it. Look at ALL the pictures.
Q:
Can I use wooden cabinet for hot smoking, considering the hot temperature inside the cabinet. Is it safe to use gas burner ?
Answer: I would not use a wooden cabinet since the Smoke Daddy does get very hot. I would be afraid that were the pipe connects to the cabinet may get to hot and start a fire. If your using a gas burner such as propane grill there is no problem. I use mine that way.
Answer: The smoke daddy uses burning wood pellets. They are burning and can flame up if given enough oxygen. I would not use in a wooden smoker.
Q:
Would this work with a vision s series smoker
Answer: Hi I would recommend this one with the adapter for a egg type grill https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MBTOMWK
Answer: if you can drill a hole in it you can use it
Q:
Whats the output of the pump, can it be increased?
Answer: The pump is really counterproductive to this setup. Start your mix of chips/chunks/pellets with a burning charcoal briquette or wood cinder and it will go. The pump just makes white smoke and turns your meat to crap. Less (visible smoke) is more. But to answer your question, I don't know what the output of the pump is, but I do know that it can't be adjusted.
Answer: I do not know the volume but I run it less than full output. This is an aquarium pump and has no method to increase the volume. It is variable speed adjustable.
Answer: Not sure on the precise volume output but you won’t be disappointed on the amount of smoke it produces. Consider More volume output in that area might stoke a fire. If you’re worried about creosote buildup, make sure you have proper ventilation.
Answer: The output is HUGE. Never will there be a time where you would want/need more. It’s completely adjustable, you’ll love it.
Answer: Yes the air flow is adjustable . This thing works great . I added mine to my Traeger and works great . It allows me to cold smoke and add as much smoke as I want .
Answer: Turn the knob all the way to the right
Q:
Ordering through Amazon, how do i specify a 220v pump?
Answer: The pump is a 110v pump like the air pumps used is home aquariums
Answer: No such thing. This is a small air pump the same size that’s used in a fish tank. Item is 110v. Nothing more.
Answer: Don't think you can
Q:
I have a Traeger and was wondering if you mounted in on the left side would it get too hot affect the digital controls for the auger?
Answer: It will not affect the digital controls. Mine is mounted on the left and is not a problem for me.
Answer: Nope. Mines mounted on left. It IS extremely close but doesnt do any damage or remove any paint. It can be a pain in the butt if you have to replace parts under the hopper though.
Answer: I do not belive it will. I have cold smoked with my smoke daddy. It does not raise the temperature to any noticeable degree. The temperature was and has been the same as outside temperature every time. I can cold smoke cheese.
Answer: No, it's far enough away and there is no problem. My son has one and he too said its not a problem.
Q:
Would this product be overkill for a Traeger Junior Elite?
Answer: The smoke daddy magnum puts out a lot of smoke even when the pump is turned way down. I'm sure if it was used on a treager pellet grill it would for sure be over kill.
Answer: There are several sizes of the smoke daddy so you don't have to buy the largest one for a small smoker. I think these are perfect for any smoker.
Q:
I have a Rec Tec 680. Should this be installed to discharge under the drip pan?
Answer: Hi Yes I recommend it to discharge under the drip pan for the best results.
Answer: As long as the smoke can fill the box it should not matter where you install it, just make sure you can access the top and bottom with no problem.
Q:
I have your pellet fed hopper on an upright.(thanks) i'm wondering if the air pump can overcome the positive pressure inside the smoker?
Answer: I installed the large smoke daddy on the biggest traeger grill they make. I have had no issues with lack of smoke. I have smoke pouring out every crack in the grill. If you do have any issues, the easy fix is purchase the biggest air pump from your local pet store. I have found that keeping the smoke daddy clean does increase the amount of smoke.
Answer: I have used mine for over a year now and think it's just great when you want extra smoke on your meat. The main thing is to start with a clean unit very easy to clean just remove the screen on the bottom clean any unused wood out. Use the provided round wire cleaner to clean the horizontal air tube. I also run a cloths hanger wire through the horizontal mental tube into the rubber connector to make sure that is clean. The pump only helps move the smoke. It's a really neat attachment.
Answer: yes, if the pump is large enough. I had to use a pump made for a 120 gallon aquarium
Answer: Yes it should work just fine. How big of a smoker are you attaching it to?
Answer: No.. you need to vent to properly cure and smoke
Q:
Can I use this smoker generator for Hot smoking. I will need 90 degrees celsius inside my smoking wooden box
Answer: No you will need a heat source. I got one from Amazon and It works perfectly in my smoker/cooker. The smoke generator is the best one I have ever used.
Answer: Yes, it works great for that but keep in mind that the Smoke Daddy is NOT your heat source. I use a propane burner for heat in the box. The Smoke Daddy just provides the smoke. Used properly it does a a helluva good job.
Answer: I run it on a big smoker cabinet that we do all types of meat in
Answer: That would depend on the size and construction of the box, ambient temperature, weather, and fuel.
Q:
I need a replacement bottom cap, can I order parts somewhere?
Answer: Just call the company. Their customer service is excellent
Product reviews of Smoke Daddy Magnum P.I.G. Cold Smoke Generator
Amazon Shopper : A Must-Have for Pellet Grills
This was easy to install with clear instructions. I’ve used it a few times already and it works perfectly adding that charcoal/true wood smoked flavor to everything I make. This will work perfectly as a cold smoker this fall and winter as well.
Peter Fritz : A MUST HAVE
This product is awesome . I installed this on my traeger grill along with the pro pellet pid controller . I know have full control of the smoke and temperature.
Polly Market. : Worth it!!!
This is the second cold smoke generator I have purchased from smoke daddy, and both have been outstanding as far as quality and performance. Cheese, olives, fish, and bacon turn out delicious
Chih Hui Lu : rough product
The cap is rough and can't fit with other part properly. Please change a new one.
Kenny Nicholson : Best Cold smoker on the market.
Bang for the buck, best addition possible for a smoker or grill... don't waste your time on comparable items...
Louie : Traeger Timberline 1300 with Smoke Daddy Magnum P.I.G.
The smoke daddy is easy to install. I wasn’t happy with my timberline 1300. It didn’t produce the smoke flavor I was use to. So I installed the smoke daddy magnum P.I.G. I didn’t want to drill a hole in my Traeger but for the smoke flavor I had no choice. If your not handy with the tools it might be hard to install. In my Traeger I have a stainless steel plate to remove so I can install the P.I.G. It produces a lot of smoke even in the low setting. Very happy with it.
Derick Tibbetts : Easy install.
Easy install.. And fired if up!!! Great smoke and easy to use. I was surprised how well it works. Should have bought it a long time ago. BA!!!

Lydia Helmholz : smoke daddys work!
i have been smoking meat, sausage, cheese ,fish etc. for a long time. i ordered a smoke daddy thinking i would have no problems operating it. there is a learning curve. i was getting to much smoke and it was off color. the smoke daddy co. is a family run business and believe it or not you can call and talk to a real person who will help you. i talked to dan. he was genuinely concerned with my problems! dan took the time to work with me and made me understand how to make these problems go away. that is a rare thing for a company to do these days!! this big kahuna is a great way to go,just follow directions and you will have a great addition to your smoker program. but if you need help it is available from people who care and want to help you. for that reason and the fact that this is a GREAT product they have earned my respect and appreciation . ill be back

Love it.
karel : Great product.
Great product. Last for 4 hrs, smoked the meat perfectly. 18 hrs cold smoke apple and hickory. 5 hrs hot smoke with external fireplace. Used it first time and worked great.
Derick Tibbetts : Easy install.
Easy install.. And fired if up!!! Great smoke and easy to use. I was surprised how well it works. Should have bought it a long time ago. BA!!!
Chih Hui Lu : rough product
The cap is rough and can't fit with other part properly. Please change a new one.
MEL : Refit the Smoke Tube
Wife wanted cold-smoked salmon and gave me the Magnum as a gift. Generates an incredible amount of smoke, but to clean I had to dismantle the whole apparatus from the inside of my cooker. I'd mounted it rear of the hopper on my Traeger 34 so as to not clutter the front of my cooker. Using hardware store-bought fittings I put an in-line union that allows me to dismount the Smoke Daddy without removing the drip pan and grate inside the Traeger. Can't fit it too tight or leave it set after smoking or it'll seize like any of the creosote fittings. Only used it twice so still learning.
Dan : It works great!
This thing makes some smoke!
scott watson : Five Stars
This is the best thing I have ever bought for my smoker! it saves me hours of work.
Kenny Nicholson : Best Cold smoker on the market.
Bang for the buck, best addition possible for a smoker or grill... don't waste your time on comparable items...
Heaven9679 : No Quality Control!!
I don’t know how this item works yet because I haven’t grilled. The one thing I can say right now is the quality control needs to be better. A lot of flaws.
sidehill : This puts out a LOT of smoke!
I am using this on a home built wine barrel (~55 gallon) cold smoker. I definitely bought a bigger smoke generator than I needed. I have ~10 inches of venting capability in the top of this smoker and a creosote trap inside the smoker where the smoke enters the chamber. This smoke generator would probably work for a full sized smokehouse.
All-in-all this product does what it is supposed to do. Customer support is wonderful (I wish I had called before I bought this product so they could have told me to buy the smaller one).
I use a piece of charcoal and a propane torch to light. Super easy and never goes out.
The only complaint I have is that when using packaged chunks of wood you sometimes have to split them to allow them to fit into the fire box.
JVaughn : Wrong size washers.
Edit: Revising this down to 1 star as I'm seeing other buyers had the same problem before I made my purchase. They know this is an issue and couldn't be bothered to take 30 seconds to put the right washers in before shipping them out. Zero respect for their customers time.
The washers included were too small to fit the threaded smoke tube. They were 7/8" washers and it needs 1" washers. I spent way too long assuming that I was doing something wrong because it seemed too implausible that the manufacturer would screw up such a simple thing. The trip to the hardware store was a moderate inconvenience and the proper washers were not expensive, but it made what would have been a 10 minute job into a multi-hour chore.
Once assembled with the correct parts the smoke generator works well. I installed it on my Weber Summit grill and, while the Weber box is pretty drafty, the Smoke Daddy is more than capable of keeping things smokey. Hugh upgrade to the stock smoke box. I had to install the smoke generator on the back of the grill, but it fits well and is accessible enough.
Overall I'm satisfied, but I'm still pretty annoyed about all the inconvenience that was so easily avoidable. I guess I'm lucky that it was just readily-available washers that were wrong, and not one of the more critical components.
Johnny B : If you wnat smoke this will do it!
Tons and tons of smoke. I recommend for very large smoker boxes. I actually went back and bought the 8" one for my small upright smoker and that is more than big enough.
bpm : ... the new Traeger Pro Series 34 and was so disappointed with lack of smoke flavor from pellets
I just bought the new Traeger Pro Series 34 and was so disappointed with lack of smoke flavor from pellets. I tried different brands and nothing worked. I read a lot of reviews and did some research on the Smoke Daddy Magnum PIG. I got it today and install was so easy. Make sure you have the right drill bit so you can drill the right whole size. I loaded it about a 1/4 of the way up with lump charcoal, wood chips, and wood chunks. I lit it from the bottom with a butane torch and got it going. I could smell that good old smoke flavor. The smoke started off pretty heavy and I turned down the air pump to low and then got that thin blue smoke. I am so excited to use it this weekend for a brisket. So far so good! Thanks Smoke Daddy! This is exactly what I was looking for.
Ted : All good until start getting hot
This cold smoker is a good choice having a major manufacturing flaw: Once is lighted and the unit body is getting hot, the plastic cap knobs attached to bottom and top caps, are getting super hot and difficult to handle without thermal protected gloves. This is a hassle when needed a refill.
Overall, the amount of smoke provided is good, even for a shot time, even for a longer time.
Here is a update after a month of use, attached to a “ medium size refrigerator smoker”:
The steel spring and bottom steel mesh are “melting” after couple uses and get bended.
Every 20-25 minutes, the smoker needs a wood chunks refill to generate smoke.
I am little disappointed overall. For the price is not performing as expected
DJ Seberger : Doesn't smoke for 4 hours like they claim
Doesn't smoke for 4 hours like they claim, but it has much more smoke than the kahuna or what ever it is (the smaller one)
Anthony : Test Run without any meat was GREAT!
I haven't smoked anything yet but the test run was excellent!
puts out plenty of clean smoke and fills the smoker very good.
Follow the lighting and woodchip suggestions and you will win every time.
Only reason for 4 stars is I haven't used it for what it's intended for since I've installed the smoke daddy on my smoker used to smoke home made sausage and right now I haven't been able to use it for that.
Disco Dave : Excellent cold smoke attachment
This cold smoke attachment was easy to install. Good sturdy parts. Works excellent and really kicks out some good clean smoke. Was a perfect mod to my BBQ150.

It does a great job of pumping smoke.
A bit pricey IMO but, a good product .
Steve : Nice addition to a grill
Great friendly service from Dennis! I recieved the new style pump and had a few questions. I added a few extra parts to make my modification to the Weber spirit grill. 6" brass pipe nipple and a 90 degree fitting. Very easy to install and use. Used once so far but I intend to be using it often. Recommended for anyone who wants a cold smoker. Works great with the addition of gas/charcoal heat.

Polly Market. : Worth it!!!
This is the second cold smoke generator I have purchased from smoke daddy, and both have been outstanding as far as quality and performance. Cheese, olives, fish, and bacon turn out delicious
Christopher C Mattera : Exceeded expectations.
Works better than expected. We're using it to produce smoke for our Toast Master ES-13 commercial smoker after the electric smokebox element burnt out for the 3rd time. The Magnum PIG is a fraction of the cost of a new element, installed in about 5 minutes and produces many times the smoke of the original configuration. Just light it with a blowtorch at the bottom and it takes care of the rest. Was not expecting to be able to run our commercial smoker from this one little tube, but it does a heck of a job. Our smoked items take on a beautiful mahogany sheen and get a clean smoke flavor.
Peter Fritz : A MUST HAVE
This product is awesome . I installed this on my traeger grill along with the pro pellet pid controller . I know have full control of the smoke and temperature.

I have a 4x6x7 ft. Smoke house and it provides plenty of smoke for salmon, very pleased
Islander64 : Quality Assurance
This isn't a knock on the overall ability of this product to perform, because I can't install it yet, and have no idea how well it works yet!!!! Problem is the 2 flat washers provided in the installation kit are the WRONG diameter and actually the same diameter as the threaded pipe. I called the manufacturer and whoever the guy was I spoke with stated "someone who ordered the parts for the kit must have ordered the wrong washers as we order them in bulk". These units aren't cheap and I expect some common sense QA procedures to be in place but apparently they just toss the items into a bag and box it up!! Now I have to take the pipe to my local hardware store to purchase the correct washers. Unreal!!!
