Answer: No,the real is a beast though! Caught big yellowtail&bluefin tuna 30#range No problem!cast like a dream,al.ost impossible to backlash on it!out casted a deck hand on one of my trips nothing but good reviews on this beauty!I also have the daiwa lexa400 & I prefer the shimano,smoooooth!

does this come with a reel-to-rod "keeper" accessory for security attachment?

Answer: No it doesn't come with a clamp. It did seem to matter though as I just used the Tranx on a 17 day Long Range Trip to Mexican waters and I caught numerous Wahoo to 50 lbs. If you need clamps, then go to an auto parts store and buy hose clamps...these work fine. This is a great reel and casts like nothing I've ever seen!!

What size would go better for casting 3oz lead from the beach the 300ahg or the 400ahg using a 12'3" rod?

Answer: I think I would go for the 300 personally, but I suppose it depends on what you are spooling it up with and what you are targeting.

Answer: I would use the 400 series. I use the 300 for river fishing. I use 1/2-1ounce weight. I use a 9 1/2 foot rod. The 300 has been ideal fishing salmon in the northwest.

Answer: With that heavy of a weight and long rod I would think the 400 would be the best choice.

Answer: No rod clamp. I heard they have aftermarket clamp out there. Either way, awesome reel!

Love this reel, I was going to get a Trinidad 14a but the TRANX 500 hg is on par with it , no doubt about that, I also like the convince of a bait caster. And that exactly what this reel is . Just as beautiful and powerful. I personally put a Trinidad 20a handle on it for better Torque.

Puts big fish to sleep FAST and feels incredible. If you are on the fence about dropping $500 on a reel just do it, you will not be disappointed with the performance. I use the 500HG surf fishing and on jetties. Not really the designed use but there is nothing out of reach with a 60g DUO Drag Metal jig. Want to cast over the break with out wading with sharks? This’ll do it. Fish off a jetty and put monster Reds and Spanish to sleep, Fast? This’ll do it. Just buy this reel, I had It in my cart forever and finally just clicked buy now. Just click it, man.
