Why is this reel worth 150? Compared to others at 100-120?

Answer: If you can get any other reel that has an aluminum frame for $100 - $120 then yes but if the reel is graphite or a composite frame then no. Also depends what reel manufacturer you are taking about as well. The Bassinator is a good reel just not worth the price. It would better at $79 or $99

Answer: The $100 to $120 reels are good products. The higher end reels costing $175 to $200 bait casters that I have are lighter, have smoother spool action, and seem more solid when I crank the handle. The qualities that I have seen in the Bassinator Elite are more like the higher end Shimano that I have at a price that it a $!00 cheaper. It is a matter of personal preference.

Answer: Asking myself same question. Color? Weight? The bearings are covered in something different. I used mine recently and it casted so free that I kept getting horrible back lashes since there is no way to adjust spool speed! I’m sure it will be fine if I get use to it but it is the most free spool that I have ever used by far! I use abu Garcia Revos everyday and this KastKing is 10 times smoother! Not sure if that is a good thing or not yet!?!??

Answer: I would use it with a medium to medium heavy crank bait rod with the desired length based on what you were fishing for. I would think that a 7 foot crank bait rod is a versatile length.

Answer: This is a high gear ratio 8.5:1 reel. Kastking has some better options for a cranking reel to be used for Muskie. I would look at both the Kastking Kapstan Baitcaster or Kastking Spartacus Maximus Baitcasters. Lower gear ratios, with crankinghandles & larger spool capacity. These are both designed for bigger fresh or saltwater fish.

Answer: I am not a musky fisherman. I think this reel is great for most freshwater species. From what I have read, a musky reel would need stronger gears and shaft in order to adequately land a bigger fish. I personally would look for something that was a heavier duty reel.

Answer: All of my five bait casters except the Curado Chronacrh MGL have internal brake adjustment. The Chronarch has a fine tuning external magnetic brake which i have never used. I have found that my preset brake adjustments work when I fish and have never had a need to adjust the brake in the boat. I am not familiar with the Tatula bait caster.

Answer: No the Tatula is better reel. You do have to open the side plate to adjust the brakes

Im new to baitcasters but have fished for 20+ years. I was worried about learning to use baitcasters and let me say all I had to do was set breaks to half and ive had maybe 3 backlashes thats it. I paired it with 15lb braid and speed demon pro carolina rig rod. All around amazing reel. Simple to use, super smooth great reel for beginers. I have landed 20+ brown trout on it already.
Despite haters kastking makes awesome gear. Keep up the awesome work guys.

This reel is really nice. Smooth operation and great look, BUT any bait caster reel is very difficult to master. These types of reals are not for the average fisherman. I tried casting this reel and ended up with many bird nests...Granted the three stars is not so much for the product itself but for the not so easy to use disclaimer not present...many adjustments need to be made prior to use as well as big learning curve.

What first caught my eye was the color. I have so many silver and black reels, so I wanted something different and eye catching! Like most, the 1st thing I did was the spool spin test and this reel is outstanding! Retrieve is also super smooth, comparable to a lot of flagship reels. Line lay was perfect when I spooled it up. It is also very light without having to employ a corrosion prone mg frame. Will update if I find any problems, but so far, so good. Great job Kastking!

This is an amazing lightweight, fast, smooth, baitcaster. I took this out last weekend in 40+ winds, and still casted great. I did have to not cast directly into the wind, but you get the point....just an amazing reel. KastKing has done an amazing job with this reel.

Maybe I got a lemon, but the side cover will not lock when reattaching after making adjustments to the magnetic brakes. I ordered directly from Kastking and have now reached out twice providing my order number and describing the problem and not heard a word back from them. Now I’m out of $200.00 with a unusable reel.

Out of the box i only had to turn on 2 magnets and dial the brakes a couple of turns and it was set. It throws long and smooth casts. First time using a lefty too (even though i'm right handed), and seems to be very convenient not having to move the rod to my left hand and retrieve with my right.

I was going to buy the same reel with another gear ratio(Bassinator Elite Classsic 6.6:1) I paid $134.63 for this reel(Bassinator Elite Classic 8.1:1) on October 18, 2019 now it's $179.00(January1, 2020). What happened to "Keeps fishing fun"? In my opinion and interpretation of others reviews; youtube, amazone etc. is that price point is when we start to look at the competitors such as Shimano, Diawa etc. In all honesty I looked at a Shimano SLX XT and it's $129.00, I said I'll just actually get another "classic"; everything I have is Kast King. I'm going to try the shimano just on price, I have the "Bassinator Elite 8.1:1 Classic" but I'm trying to "keep fishing fun". Thanks guys for being such an innovative company.

No matter the setting I found myself backlashing easily with this reel. I own several other name brand reels and don't have this problem. I will say the reel is extremely light. And I haven't had a problem with durability yet. But I have stopped using it due to backlashes. If you want a light reel that won't break the bank I would say try it out.

I Fish Atleast Six Days A Week : You won't be disappointed!

I waited a while before writing this review because I didn't want to jump the gun. After previously purchasing the Speed Demon spinning reel for my saltwater fishing (and being thoroughly satisfied with the reel and Kastking's customer service), I decided to give their freshwater baitcaster a shot. I am more than happy with my purchase. The Bassinator Elite is the perfect name for it. I have slayed the largemouth bass and the reel performs like no other that I have used. It's light weight, very smooth casting and retrievals, and it looks great on the rod. I have yet to have a birdsnest so bad that I've had to respool the reel (I fish atleast 6 days a week). If you're looking for a reel that compares to the big brands with the big prices, this is the reel for you! Kastking has set a new standard when it comes to quality and affordability.
