What reel would you match up with a 5 wt rod?

Answer: It depends: I ordered the Animus 4/5 reel and used it with both my 4wt sage rod and a 5 weight Thomas and Thomas rod. Its a super-lightweight reel, so you probably need to think about overall weight of your setup. If you are using a fast action 5 wt. rod with a fighting butt you may want to get the next reel size up. BTW guides who handled my setup were amazed at how incredibly light it was- they loved the reel- and so do I.

Can i use this with 3 weight line and a 3 weight rod?

Answer: You could. Might be a tad heavier. I use a Colorado LT for my 3 weight. The only thing is that reel doesn't have a drag. The Animas I use on my 5 weight and is really nice.

Answer: Thanks for contacting us! You could use this reel for a 3 weight rod. However, it may be a little on the big side. You would be much better off with a 3/4wt reel. That would be much more appropriate in terms of size, backing capacity, weight, ect.
