Answer: Yes you can hold the crabs in the basket it will keep them alive. I would turn it upside down and use the opening on the bottom to get them out. I once put some small crabs in with my pin fish this was a mistake trying to get a pin fish out with live crabs running around proved to be a challenge and I hurts.

Answer: It would certainly hold crabs and I think they would mostly try to climb out the bottom when it was opened to release them. However, it might be tricky to get them in the top. You would probably have to pick them up individually by their back flippers to get them into the top hole. It is not a very large hole and the crabs would try to grab hold to things on the way in. Personally, I use a rectangular wire mesh crab keeper for my crabs and larger fish at the dock before I clean them.

Answer: Thank you for your question. The real size of the upper basket is 19" wide X 30" tall while lower basket is 24" high 13" wide & top is 11" High.

Answer: 19" wide X 30" tall are coverall dimensions collapsed. Lower basket 24" high 13" wide. Top is 11" High. This is my explanation with out going to my boat and measuring.

Since it is floats...are the fish in it more likely to die sooner?

Answer: The rubber lid I believe makes it float. In my experience the fish will last for a few days in this cage with no problem.

Answer: Top door is spring loaded. Push open while holding the fish and then just drop the fish into the basket. If the fish is heavy enough just drop on to the door and it will fall through on it’s own.

Answer: its not a trap it's a basket you put your fish in after you catch them. i'll never use a stringer again. these allow you to release your fish alive and unhurt if you change your mind about keeping them

Answer: I’ve caught some nice sized fish, can’t say they break any records, and this basket is sufficient in containing your catch. If you’re catching fish at greater amounts, you might consider also using a cooler for safety.

I purchased this basket Sept. 5th 2017. I lost 2 nice catfish out of it yesterday and noticed that It has already rusted out and won't hold fish. I'm only fishing on a fresh water lake (Lake LBJ) and don't even use it that much. Very sad. Thought it would last much longer. I thought Eagle Claw was a good brand. Wrong.

I'm 100% happie with this big basket, its big enough to hold a large catch & they have room to swim around in it which is IMPORTANT in water that is in the 70's in the summer cause the smaller baskets haven't the room & when lots of fish in it they'll belly up & start to die, so this is the way to go...also this floating basket is best as you'll never lose your fish as I dropped one with a nice catch
& it went to the bottom of lake & lost all my catch......Buy this one

I owned one of these in a smaller size for years. It finally wore out and I bought this big one to take its place. It is made for a master fisherman like me. I catch a lot of fish, some of them quite large. I can fit several five pounders in this basket with ease and I know that they are secure and will remain fresh all day if need be. I do a lot of fishing from bridges into the Erie Canal system. Large fish of every type come out of here, but it is usually a long way down to the water. With this basket I just attach a long nylon rope to the handle and lower/raise it as required to insert the fish. My only regret is that someone other than me invented it.

Took it out on the first fishing trip after purchasing it. Tied it to my kayak and dropped it in the water at the first place I anchored. When I looked back at it a few minutes later, it was 3 feet under water. I had not caught any fish yet so it sank of it's own accord. float is not sufficient for the weight of the basket. 10/10 would not purchase again.
