Q:
What is the netting made of? Is it a knotless net?
Answer: nylon and it is not knotless. it is a great net, I use mine in saltwater just be sure the slot is up when deployed or stowed.I bought a second thinking they may discontinue them I've had this net for about 4 years.
Answer: We've used the net several times now with no knots, and my brother in law has had his a lot longer than us with no knots either! So I would have to say knot less !! Love this net!!'n
Answer: it is a twine type knotted net
Answer: Unless you catch very big fish this net is great. If your fear is could a fish hook get caught in this net the answer is yes.
Answer: It does not have knots nice and soft will not harm fish.
Q:
how deep is the net
Answer: The net is 20" deep. I actually opened it to measure the depth. That is a dry, unstreched net measurement. I imagine the previous answers are also correct after the net is wet and streched.
Answer: 2 to 2 1/2 ft. Deep
Answer: Approx 24"
Product reviews of Frabill Hiber-Net | Collapsible Landing Net for Freshwater Fishing | Fish-Friendly Netting | Hoop Size: 23" x 22"
Renee : Five Stars
Love this net! Perfect for the boat as we can store in one of the rod holders.
C. Whittemore : They loved it!
I bought this for my husband and son. They take a fishing trip every summer, and they always take a day to hike into a remote area with no roads. This made it much easier for them. They loved it!
hopalong : stores in the rod box
Love the portability. The net is stored in the handle which is approximately one and a half inches in diameter. Perfect to fit in the rod box. I would suggest you fully extend it before you try to do it one handed and lose your fish. The net is tough to extend with one hand which I did since my wife couldn't extend it with two hands on its first use. If I'm lucky enough to need it more often I'm sure it will loosen up. I've never liked a net since they're always in the way in a boat. This net solves that problem.
Scott S. Thompson : Perfect net for someone who does not have a place to store a net
Very innovative design for a net. Works perfect on a bass boat where is not a great place to store a normal net. The whole net slides back in the tube and you can put the net in your rod locker. When deploying the net, it’s a little hard to lock into place, but it deploys quickly. Next seems pretty strong, 5+Lb smallmouth don’t put any strain on the net, nor did the 10+lb musky. Net material is soft but definitely not hook resistant. Overall the best net for the job in a bass boat
Lifetime Amazon Buyer : Great Idea For A Fishing Net
The only problem I have is that it doesn't extend in length. Sometimes you just need that extra few inches to net the fish. Stores really easy in the boat. Haven't had any trouble with opening and closing so far. Hope for a few years of use before having to replace. Will see in time if it holds up.
Crowwing : Finally a net that stores out of the way.
So far I'm very happy with this net. I have used it on fish up to 5lbs and it has worked well. Because the net completely collapses I am able to store it in the rod locker and out of the way. The nets action is smooth and is ready for use in seconds. If the net will handle much bigger fish I will be back to raise the rating.
Nitro007 : Nice but make it easier to colapse
I love the way it folds into the handle but it is not easy to fold up. That is the only reason I gave it a 4 star from 5 star.
Amazon Customer : Excellent product!!!!!
I have 2 of these nets! I bought them before Amazon existed. It is a great product. I even bought the paddle accessory!
Mrs T : Fishing net
This is the BEST net
CameronC : It is by far the best fold up net on the market
It is by far the best fold up net on the market. I am not sure how well it will hold up over multiple seasons but if I had to replace this every couple years it would be completely worth not having to stow a bulky net.
Dereck D : Very hard to use
Very hard to get the net to open and the net hats hung up in the tube opening when you store it.
martha B. Florida born and raised! : Super cool net!!
Super easy to use and store! Big enough for a 37&1/2 inch fish!!! Really sturdy just be sure to rinse it thoroughly!
tom b : Net storage solved.
The quality of the material used beat my expectations. In just a few minutes it was learned how to use it the way it was meant to be used. If not used properly, it is difficult or impossible to close as designed and problems will surely develop. On the other hand, if held and used properly, it works very smoothly. As I have a small boat, when closed it stores out of the way in the boats side box and in the open net rack when in use.
Timothy R ONeill : I'VE HAD THREE OF THESE AND LOVE THEM FOR MY DRIFT BOAT UNTIL THEY FAIL
I'VE HAD THREE OF THESE AND LOVE THEM FOR MY DRIFT BOAT UNTIL THEY FAIL; WHICH THEY DO. I steelhead fish a lot (over 20 days a year). That means cold freezing temps and sand, the nemesis of this device. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not easy on stuff but the achilles heel of this net is the internal metal rod that controls the slider. It fails by either bending back into handle or slipping out of the hole in the plastic sliding sheath. The other more minor issue that leads to the rod/slider failure it the tight tolerance between the plastic slider and the metal handle. Any sand in there and you get friction which causes it to not fully open or close then you have no choice but to pull harder to move it and then it fails. Great concept but for what steelheaders do it's not quite ready for prime time. Our local Bass Pro doesn't flinch when I return it; they just hand me a new one. I buy 90% of my stuff on amazon but my first one of these came from there as a gift so that's where they go back to when they seize up. I love the concept though. Drift boat fishermen need this device to work, do you hear me Frabill? The fix is so simple!
NateKnows : Mine is hard to Expand
For the money spent I thought this would work nicer. When pushing out the pole extends nicely, but to get the net to "pop" open. I am using extreme force and not happy with it. I don't feel this will last very long for me and now I am outside the return window.
LOUIS J CULOTTA SR : Excellent service and product excellent
Excellent service and product excellent. I also have the larger model. This one is easier to handle in my bass boat.
Gail Turner : Great Product
This was a purchase for mu husband - he loves it.
It stores away so easily and works great.

mrvn911 : Worst Net and Company Ever
If I could give it zero stars, I would. This was going to my second Frabill Hibernet. The first one held up well, though it went with the boat when I sold it many years ago. The genius part of the product is the net stores inside the handle. The fist one was a bit difficult to deploy, though over time it did get better. It does take two hands. This one when arrived today, I noticed the Made in Taiwan sticker on it. I opened it exactly twice while in the garage. It was quite difficult to open, though the I figured it would get easier. I then had my wife try to deploy the net. She was unable to physically open it. She handed it to me and I opened it up and the entire assembly came out along with a part that I still don’t know where it came from which fell to the ground. I called Frabill which is a Plano company. I sat on hold for 30 minutes. I gave up, but did was able to get a return phone call from Frabill. I explained my situation and the representative could care less. In fact, the entire phone call lasted 29 seconds. Needless to say, this thing is going back to Amazon and I will not be purchasing another thing from Frabill and it is doubtful I will be purchasing any additional Plano products as well. Buyer be ware.
warren sprague : Great net for team bass fishing
Was exactly what I thought it would be. Great net for team bass fishing, but would be hard to open by yourself and handle rod with fish on. Awesome for storing in rod locker,or laying in the floor out of the way, saves a lot of space. Net when deployed is a lot stronger that I thought it would be. Overall good product.
