Answer: Yes when it is fully open it is practically flat....it is a great net I catch a lot of bait fish with it!

Really solid and sturdily constructed...a few buck more than the cheapies but well worth it. I like the small mesh as I catch small minnows for my tank and pond with it. Excellent product.

Red Rock Boy : Best Umbrella Net Made

Recently purchased the Cumings Umbrella Minnow Net, and it is exactly what I've been looking for. I had a net made 50+ years ago which I needed to replace. I purchased the products of 2 other manufacturers, one of which kept falling apart when assembled, and with the other the steel bent under the load of pulling the net out of the water, these were total junk. I looked at many others, all of which seemed to be of similar manufacture. The Cumings net is the only Umbrella Net I've found to be a quality product and able to be used right out of the packaging. Construction is excellent and resembles the net I inherited from my father. This should not have been that hard to do. Thanks to Ed Cumings, Inc. for getting it right.

Timothy Howlett : umbrella net

This net may work for some, but for me it seems that the holes in the mesh need to be a bit bigger. That way it would alow it to be pulled through the water faster. Also it would need to have some netting up the sides, three or four inches to keep the bait fisk from swimming off the sides.

I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but was disappointed that it did not include the rope shown it the picture to lower and raise it into and out of the water.

LuvMyBeardies : VERY DURABLE

I am giving this Net 5 stars. But I use it exclusively to land fish, when I am pier fishing. I have used this to land Bluefish to 5 pounds and Summer Flounder to 6 pounds. Crabs get stuck on Net. I safely shake them off in the water. It can be used to crabs and baitfish catcher. But my use as a landing net, makes this net a vital tool in my fishing gear.

Didn't come with the strings; just the net only. I would have to rig up string and a device to pull the net corners up at the same time. Gave it to a friend. So what you see if not what you get.
