can i buy replacement trays?

Answer: When I reached to the manufacturer (several years ago) about more trays, they replied that the unit was optimized for the number of trays it shipped with and they didn't recommend adding more trays. As that didn't answer my question, I eventually found one on clearance, bought it, kept two trays and donated the unit with less trays. Since then I ran across some trays that would appear to fit but no guarantee. They're the Nesco TR-2 Add-A-Tray for Dehydrators FD-1010/FD-1018P/FD-1020, Set of 2 . Note the different brand name. Good luck and sorry for the long answer.

Answer: I do not believe so. I had the same model - made by Mr. Coffee - for 30 years, and never had issues with needing replacement. I have the Elite, now - same exact machine.

Answer: Here's a number to Maxi-Matic :800.365.6133. Perhaps they can help you. I don't own this machine anymore. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I wish you much success in your 'hunt'.

Answer: Actually it is now 120 volts in the US and has been for a long time. 220 volts is now 240 volts.

Still going strong. I bought this to dehydrate mushrooms. I find a bunch and we like to dry them out right away. This replaced my old stackable model and the old trays fit this one. I can have 15 trays of mushrooms drying at the same time and it’s all usually dry by morning.

I was mis led by the headline. Rotating isnt qhat I expected. I thought it would rotate not that I had to physically rotate it. I will be buying a new one. And it will be where i can see it in person before I buy it. There was not time for me to return it. So I made due. Otherwise it's a good machine. But am very disappointed.

I love this dehydrator!! It’s the perfect size for batches of dried fruit. There is no temperature control, but it works quickly, fruit dries in about 24 hours. It’s so quiet. I’ve had other dehydrators, this is the quietest.

I got one as a birthday gift. It works great for me. Even cooking. Easy set up . I just wish I could find some sheets to use to make bark or other kinds of snacks.

TA : Silly design, burns food

The food will be dried at different speeds, not just because this is a tray tower and the heater is onj the bottom but it also manages to burn food on one side of the circle while the other side remains not dried. Also the towering of trays is odd, trays seem to fit but then you will realize they are not quite mounted.

Brian Meehan : Worked well with monitoring

We bought one in 2006 and it lasted thru about 4 years of use of about 40-60 hours of "on" time each year. Now it seems something has burned out in the motor (fan wasn't frozen, no fuse that I could find, heater elements looked fine, etc). So we must buy a new food dehydrator.
For a cheap dehydrator, it worked fine. The trays were average; we never had a problem with food on one side vs food on the other. Rotated the trays like the manual said and left the top open 25-50% and it worked great. With some attention the trays lock in place just fine; one just has to be aware of what one is doing, versus spacing out and thinking about other stuff.

It gets a 3 out of 5 because it works and comes with 5 trays but has minimal features and only lasted for about 200 hours of use. Final verdict: we will probably look at something else having now owned/used our first dehydrator.
