can i buy replacement trays?

Answer: When I reached to the manufacturer (several years ago) about more trays, they replied that the unit was optimized for the number of trays it shipped with and they didn't recommend adding more trays. As that didn't answer my question, I eventually found one on clearance, bought it, kept two trays and donated the unit with less trays. Since then I ran across some trays that would appear to fit but no guarantee. They're the Nesco TR-2 Add-A-Tray for Dehydrators FD-1010/FD-1018P/FD-1020, Set of 2 . Note the different brand name. Good luck and sorry for the long answer.

Answer: I do not believe so. I had the same model - made by Mr. Coffee - for 30 years, and never had issues with needing replacement. I have the Elite, now - same exact machine.

Answer: Here's a number to Maxi-Matic :800.365.6133. Perhaps they can help you. I don't own this machine anymore. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I wish you much success in your 'hunt'.

Answer: Actually it is now 120 volts in the US and has been for a long time. 220 volts is now 240 volts.

PowayBob : Great Dehydrator. Lasts years with a little preventative maintenance.

We've had this dehydrator for many, many years, using it to make everything from Beef Jerkey, to dried Apples, Bananas, Pears, etc. Apples have been the most popular, and the Grand kids can't get enough of them. Only issue has been a need to service/lubricate it every year or so, by removing the bottom and spraying the Fan with a Silicon Lubricant to get rid of a squeaky sound. I was thinking about giving one to each daughter for Christmas, but instead am thinking of just adding extra trays if I can.

I love this dehydrator!! It’s the perfect size for batches of dried fruit. There is no temperature control, but it works quickly, fruit dries in about 24 hours. It’s so quiet. I’ve had other dehydrators, this is the quietest.

I have used this product for about 100 hours. It's noisy, it heats up the kitchen, and takes much longer to dehydrate food. You can't slice the food too thickly -- you won't be able to correctly seat a tray on top of it....so it's not like the food was too thick therefore took too long. I used to have a dehydrator that allowed me to set both bottom and top vents. Not so with this one. Instead of the food drying eveinly, one part of the tray of food is too dry and the other part it's hardly dry! My biggest beef of all is that, after only about 100 hours of operation (not steadily, mind you, but over the course of a week, the machine no longer works. It was working fine when I shut if off . But when I turned it on again the next day, it wouldn't work!
Needless to say, I will not ever use another Elite dehydrator!

It's a simple pre-smart dehydrator. I think this is better, because there is no electronic controller to fail and render it useless. It's a little difficult to clean the trays, I use soapy water along with a toothbrush.
