NFC 50% Off 2024

fishing user avatarHogsticker reply :

Should have posted this sooner, but ordered direct through the NFC website all blanks are half price. Sale ends today though. My builder ordered an IM blank for me. Came to 102 dollars shipped. Saved 75 bucks had we ordered elsewhere. Not too shabby

fishing user avatarS Hovanec reply :

Nothing like a company sticking it to its dealers.   Selling direct to the consumer below dealer cost is a great way to maintain relations with your distribution network!

fishing user avatarQUAKEnSHAKE reply :

Then its a good time for dealers to stock up as well if you can buy them less than usual.

St Croix puts their rods on sale on their site no one complains that cabelas  gander bps getting shorted.

It certainly would be if there was any kind of demand for them.

Noone complains when Croix puts rods on sale because when they do, it's because a model is being discontinued and every retailer has permission to reduce the price.  St. Croix dictates the prices to the dealer.

When speaking of St. Croix blanks, they can be sold by their 7 distributors at retail for retail customers or retail - xx% for wholesale. Once a model is discontinued, it can then be discounted.

fishing user avatarHogsticker reply :

I don't see a big deal with it. It's a short, limited offer that rarely occurs. It's also a good way to put an NFC blank in someone's hands who refuses to pay retail premium like this guy. If the blank is all that and a bag of chips, myself and others may now be willing to pay retail on future builds. I doubt anyone truly knows what most dealer costs are anyways. It's not like dealers aren't still going to get my money. Can't build a rod without components.

IMO, no.  Since they were introduced in 2010, I have built 3.  One to submit to the NFC ARB program, one for myself and one UL for a customer.

fishing user avatarEvanT123 reply :

I bought 2; mb 708 and sj706. If a retailer or manufacturer is offering a good deal. Im on it.

I don't know. We'll have to agree to disagree. Maybe not as much for the bass folks as the salmon and steelhead people though. All I know is I've spoken with several reputable well known builders and they all tell me numbers (strength to weight ratio) don't lie. I've also read several threads of people stating the K2s and nfc high mods are the top dogs in all categories, with the IMs not being far behind. Some people really like Croix. I think you're one of them. Most of what I've heard from builders and users is that the Sc5 isn't quite there, but close. Obviously these are all opinions, but I don't see how Nfc blanks couldn't be in demand. I know you're an excellent, seasoned builder, and I know some people think Nfc blanks aren't worth the price, but they are pretty amazing. Probably why Rainshadow is now having the Eternity line manufacturerd in the States, likely with Nfc being they have partnered. Folks in many different parts of the world adore these blanks and consider them the cream of the crop in terms of strength, sensitivity, and versatility. So obviously they're in demand somewhere. France, Italy, Australia to name a few. Some people like super duper fast painted blanks. I don't fall into that category as don't many others. So there's demand right there. At any rate I'm sure I'll be grinning ear to ear when I unpack this bad boy and especially when I fish it.

I don’t see this as an issue for the dealers either.  This is a one-time deal to draw more builders or others into looking at their blanks. I can say I would never have tried one of their blanks out without this deal.  I ordered 3 myself this week  to try in the IM and SM range.  My blanks so far have come from Rain shadow, St Croix and Rod Geeks.  Northfork was not even on my list of blanks to try next.

Sweet! The only other high end blank on my bucket list is a point blank. . . . For the time being!

fishing user avatarEvanT123 reply :

Got my blanks in today. Took about 3 weeks. I called a few weeks ago to confirm my shipping address and the gentleman said they were swamped. No big deal I'm not in a rush.  I was more worried about the trip clear across the country but they made it in one piece.

First impressions they seem very nice. I like the unfinished look. I purchased sj706 and mb708 im models.  They both seem pretty darn fast and the mb has quite a big butt lol but that's what I was after. Sensativity seems there but it's always hard for me to tell until the hardware is on there. For what I paid I'm very happy.

fishing user avatarfaygo1979 reply :

Excellent! I was starting to wonder how long they would take to ship. I guess Ishould expect to see mine in the next week or so.    I wonder how their IM and SM blanks compare to the st croix sc3 and sc4 blanks I have.

fishing user avatarHogsticker reply :

My SJ705 IM made it to my builder safe and sound last week! Got all the goodies picked out too! Can't wait!

Well that's a shame..... Hopefully the company can pull through. I'd hate to see a pioneer and a champion of our sport have to close down.

That has to bring a smile to your face. Imagine if it was St Croix.

I've been trying to make up my mind about a top of the line NFC blank for myself. The price of one was always my sticking point. Guess my mind is now made up.

This is a shame. Mr Loomis is an iconic figure in the fishing industry.

I wonder if it has something to do with Batson buying them out. I forgot about this thread. On a better note , here's some pics of my SJ705 paddle tail rod. Guess I got the no warranty discount.

Actually it doesnt.  It's one more USA made product off the market.

Imagine if it was St Croix?  They have been in trouble before too, but rebounded.

I'm no businessman,  but here's my take on NFC.  They were doomed from the start.  They brought a high priced product to market without the support of a production rod in stores for people to shake and feel.  They were banking on Gary's name to sell them.

Two kickstarters to bring new products to market after being established in the industry? That just smacks of a company in trouble.  When was the last time you saw a Sage kickstarter?  St Croix? Shimano? Winston, Scott, Talon?  Never.

That 50% sale sounds like they were trying to reduce inventory in preperation for this.

Batson Enterprises did not buy out NFC, we’re simply a distributor of their rod blanks.

No worries a lot of people thought that at the time. It allows them to concentrate on making blanks and not having to deal with the distribution side of things.

Guys NFC did not go bankrupt. After seeing this post I emailed Trey Kistler and he replied immediately (as usual) and just laughed. NFC is as strong as ever and Mr. Loomis will not grow old in a cardboard box.

It appears they indeed are filing bankruptcy.  Sussman Shank LLP is representing them.  Perhaps contact them instead of Trey Kistler...I don't think he's a lawyer. ;)
