Looking For Jigs | No Lead For MA Fishing 2024

fishing user avatarJigfishn10 reply :

I'm looking to purchase jigs compatible for MA fishing, 1/4 oz thru 3/4 oz. Would love to find out where I can get a decent assortment of grass, swim and football style heads.

Any input you have is appreciated.

Thanks JF10.

fishing user avatarje1946 reply :

Siebert outdoors one of the sponsors on the site made some for me.  Love em.

fishing user avatarbass crazy reply :

Leadfreejigs.com  is located in Massachusetts.     I have not used there product but intend on doing so.

Tungstenfishingweights.com      Located in Maine has good prices on weights.  I have not used.

leadfreejigheads.com      I have not used

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

You can't go wrong with Siebert.

fishing user avatarMr. Aquarium reply :

bico jigs, veracity jigs, leadfree bass jigs and boag hog jigs. all local massachusetts companies

fishing user avatarBass Junke reply :

This site might be a little better http://www.omfishingsinkers.com/ Largest selection and cheapest tungsten I have seen on the web. This was posted in another BR forum, don't want to take all the credit.

fishing user avatarJanderson45 reply :

I use Seibert outdoors and have also recently purchased some tungsten jigs from Beast Coast Fishing, they have some real nice tungsten football jigs.  Satisfied with quality and performance of both! IMG_1687.thumb.JPG.a2442120f6366026cc015743bb4ff5fd.JPG

I buy from them every year at the NE fishing expo in Boxborough, MA. They make an excellent quality product.

its one spinnerbait, at almost 2 ozs and 7 inches long. Thats a monster of a spinnerbait. The rest of his offerings are in line with typical pricing.

I see, so more like a cowgirl than a typical bass bait.  Thanks!

Not sure what a cowgirl is referencing.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

It's a musky spinnerbait.

Tinsel adorned double bladed inline spinner, but who's counting. Just thinking about a 2 oz spinnerbait hurts my arm. Some guys built these monster spinnerbaits about 6 oz to troll for stripers a while back, didn't last...

fishing user avatarJigfishn10 reply :

Thanks for the reply guys, as it turned out, I never got to fish once this year.

I book marked this page, hopefully 2019 will be a different year for me.

Thanks a million for the suggestions.

That blade configuration on an overhead spinnerbait works great on bass! ;)

fishing user avatarGrumpyOlPhartte reply :

Sorry to hear you didn’t get out. But, on the bright side, you have all winter to select jigs for NEXT spring.  I placed a small order with Siebert for this past summer and was very impressed.  I’m not a jig fisherman - spend a fair amount of time washing them in the lakes but not catching much - but the jig quality and color selection from Siebert is outstanding. By the way, I keep a small kitchen magnet with my gear. Makes it easy to show the local game wardens my jigs and sinkers are tungsten.  The fellow I ran into was impressed that I could show him.

fishing user avatarJigfishn10 reply :

Hey @GrumpyOlPhartte, that kitchen magnet idea is great advice, I'll be sure to carry one now.

Thanks for sharing!

fishing user avatarGrumpyOlPhartte reply :

@Jigfishn10:  Happened at Onota Lake here in Pittsfield. The officer was extremely polite. More interested in my license but we got to chatting and I (probably unnecessarily) mentioned it. He was telling me about a dead loon found in one of the local lakes.  Not a mark on it. They actually did an autopsy and found lead weights in its gut.  Interesting, but sad.

fishing user avatarJigfishn10 reply :

Yeah @GrumpyOlPhartte, that will do it, but I'm not opposed to the law TBH, it costs a little more but it's all good in the hood.

I have bought some jigs from Mike in the past and he does do an excellent job, no doubt. I'll have to figure out what I want/need and will have to place an order. We'll see, I've got some time on my hands.

fishing user avatarMr. Aquarium reply :

bico jigs are my favorite jigs, totally different style head then the usual arky and football.

I bet the giant spinner bait would be good for giant smallies

fishing user avatarJigfishn10 reply :

Oh yeah @Mr. Aquarium, just saw those on their website, they look bomb.com! :)

Thanks for sharing.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

The head designs are unique, though I'm not sure what problem it solves.  I like the hooks they're using, but at $6 to $9 a jig, I demand wire tied skirts and options for living rubber.

fishing user avatarJigfishn10 reply :

They look good to me.

i fish a bico pretty much everytime im out on the water, never had an issue with skirts failing, ripping or melting

fishing user avatarCrankin4Bass reply :

I use Keitech tungsten jigs.  Black and blue is my favorite color. They have them at Dick's. Of course you can get them cheaper online.
