Radio while fishing? 2024

fishing user avatarlow_pro reply :

Do you listen to the radio while fishing (specifically in a boat)? Do you feel it has any effect on how many fish you catch (positive or negative)? Just curious. Comments welcome

fishing user avatarEddie Munster reply :

Voted No. I like listening for activity on the lake and fishing is my time away from electronics (other than depth finder).

Someone had a thread awhile ago about Ipods and I think the concensus was no music while fishing.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

Absolutely ;)

The bass on Toledo Bend are partial to Lynyrd Skynyrd!

Skynyrd ain't music it's the Gospel..... ;)

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Radio or CD...

Tennessee smallmouth are attracted to loud country music!

8-)

fishing user avatarDad_Golf_Fish reply :

MP3 player hooked to the onboard stereo (sometimes the only thing that's "hooked") when the youngster is with me. She must have her Shrek soundtrack.

fishing user avatarGeorge Welcome reply :

Our bass prefer the two-step, being southern and all that.  ::)

fishing user avatarLittle Luey reply :

No boat here but no music either on my pontoon or while bank fishing.

fishing user avatarHAMMER23 reply :

Thats what night fishing is all about, PEACE AND QUIET ! just the sounds of the lake. VOTED NO !!!

Nah dude night fishing is about bouncing a worm or jig to the rhythm of Sweet Home Alabama  ;)

fishing user avatarDock Master reply :

Even though my dad listens to it every outing I prefer not to listen to music at all, but since it is my dad's boat can't really do anything about it.

I do believe also that music will sometimes scare the fish.

fishing user avatarGeorge Welcome reply :

Bass like to be entertained out there: singing and dancing are very much appreciated by them and will certainly turn the bite on. Even better is falling in the water with cell phone attached. After that it's a bass on every cast. ;D ;D ;D

fishing user avatarbilgerat reply :

No way. My part of the world is too noisy already. Plus it interferes with the voices in my head.......

fishing user avatarCatBassin reply :

Every so often I will. Me and a buddy found out that shell cracker love hardcore death metal on Lake Lookout.

fishing user avatarSam reply :

Need quiet to concentrate.  ;)

fishing user avatarbronzewb22 reply :

Although i do enjoy blasting skynyrd as much as the next smallie fishermen, ive found that when i really need a bite, it pays to listen. Sometimes you'll miss a splash next to the boat or be to engrossed in the music to notice something jumping near the bank. That could have been the fish of a lifetime.

fishing user avatarMicro reply :

If the radio is on, I can't hear my bait plop in the water, or whine of my reel during a cast, or myself cuss when I screw up a cast...

fishing user avatarburleytog reply :

The voices in my head prefer silence.

fishing user avatarWayne P. reply :

Several of my most successful days bass fishing was due to hearing the splash of baitfish being chased on the surface more than 50 yards away. Not only do I not have music on my boat, I don't even like having a person with me that talks a lot.

fishing user avatarJoe Boss reply :

I voted never. When I am fishing I like the music that nature makes over anything that comes out of a radio.

fishing user avatarCWB reply :

Only if it's Heavy Metal. Gets fish angry and they hit anything in sight.

:D

LOL, I know what you are saying! I agree with that.

fishing user avatarNasTMcfingas reply :

Voted No, I get enough music on the drive to the spot.

fishing user avatarBassnajr reply :

Need ALL of your senses to fish IMO.

ajr

If you're screwing around fun fishing...different story.....

fishing user avatarSaintsFn reply :

I pop one ear but from my Zune. Normally, would put in two, but since i bank fish, I want to make sure I don't have to put a hook into an onshore fish of the two legged variety.

But, if I had a boat, something with some bass in it. Don't Bass like bass?? :D

fishing user avatarbigfruits reply :

i voted never. and i hate hearing other peoples music while on the water. kind of spoils the whole mood for me.

fishing user avatarCatt reply :

fishing user avatarI.rar reply :

if im with someone else and were not getting anything and are just in the BS'ing mood , maybe.

During the spawn they do.

Other than then, they may just peacefully co-exist.

You're confusing me.... ;D

No radio on the boat for me. I wanna hear if there's a frenzy goin' on somewhere next to me!

fishing user avatarcoffee reply :

heck, I don't even like music in the truck, certainly not on the water.

fishing user avatargrimlin reply :

Nature's music is all i need.

Sound of the wind,trees,fish splashing,birds screaming,ducks quacking....ect,ect.

I find it soothing to the soul.....

fishing user avatarHogHunter reply :

For me it depends on the mood.  Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.

When it's hot, humid, not a breath of wind, and the sky looks like pea soup, I put the weather alarm radio on. So I said sometimes. Other then that forget it, and I REALLY don't like being entertained by some other guy in another boat slammin and jammin. If you like it loud buy some head-phones.

>:(

fishing user avatarRecker reply :

Got to have the radio jamming. Thats when I do the best

AND if you don't have ear phones on and you ask me how the fishing is, I get instant Alzheimer and may well steer you in the wrong direction.

Your from Green Bay, did we ever meet on Cauldron Falls.., I don't REMEMBER?????????? :o

fishing user avatarMuad Dib reply :

i like hearing the sounds of fish hittin the surface, the wind movin the leaves and just the abscence of outside noise.

fishing user avatardj T nasty 69 reply :
