Who else uses exclusively soft plastics and jigs. 2025

For the past year I have been fishing almost exclusively soft baits and jigs with trailers. The only times I have thrown hard treble hooked baits is for topwaters. Between my jigs with trailers and various ways to rig creature/ worms and soft swimbaits (keitechs) I have not needed lipless or any other hard bodied baits. What do you guys mostly stick with?

The ponds I fish dictate what I use. Things are scummy now so plastics get a lot of play. For clean water I enjoy reaction baits like lipless. Wind also plays a role in my choices. Less wind, more worms and such. They all have their moments.

Lots and lots of jigs have been tied on lately, with plenty of soft plastics as well. Also, I often times find myself throwing a spinnerbait and chatter bait as well. Hard baits still have their place, just a rare place with me. Something about the 'thump' that occurs when a bass sucks in my jig...it's hard to put it away, even when something else could be more effective.

Depends on the water and conditions what I use the most. Most times I'll start with plastic, but sometimes
If they're not hitting plastics I'll throw what I need to throw.

I'd say you're in the majority camp, especially for this time of year. I use jigs and plastics ~75% of the time. Early in the year I may be more inclined to throw a crank, before the weeds get thick. I try to throw spinnerbaits and chatter baits all summer, where I can get away with it.
I'm a fan of fishing with moving baits, so that is my first choice if the waters allow.

Not me . I throw spinnerbaits in spinnerbait conditions , crankbaits in....Soft plastics are a big part of my arsenal but so are other categories .

Last choice is always finesse baits and plastics. Even when I need to throw plastics I try and get away with larger ones on baitcasters.
Moving baits are way more entertaining and fun.

Exclusively? No. I don’t want to limit myself when experience dictates I should be using a different type of bait.

i mostly fish two state lakes open to the public ... heavily fished and pressured ... best results by far ... plastics ...
zoom trick worms ...

I live and fish I arizona and the fish are either suspended deep or in deep cover. The plastics produce and the crankbaits dont in my experience. I just use what produces.

I caught probably 70% of my fish this year on topwater. Frogs, buzzbaits, and my PB on a yozuri pencil (spook). So much fun that topwater. Didn't do much cranking this year, had a little lipless action one day but other than that, hasn't been a good option. Bladed jig has taken a few both swimming and jigged...a nice 6lbs jigged last week.
Texas rig produced in some lakes, and in some cases I lost 1 plastic per fish...seems so wasteful. Jigs, I rarely lost this year but many did get hung and had to be worked out.

I like the drawing power of hard baits. I usually toss them first looking for the aggressive biters whenever conditions seem favorable.

I throw plastic worms probably 80% of the time. The rest spinnerbait or topwater

I used to consider myself a spinnerbait/power fisherman. And for good reason - I caught a lot of fish doing it.
It took me a long time to get away from the "favorite" lure/technique syndrome.
Once I did, it opened my mind to finding the fish, and learning more about what they wanted to bite that day; vs. trying to feed them what I wanted to throw (and where).
Now I catch even more fish. I don't recall the last time I got skunked since I made the transition. Had some tough days, to be sure. But at least I can catch a few each time I go out, even on the toughest days.

Not exclusively, but by far I throw soft plastics in some form the majority of the time.

Maybe 90% of the time? I enjoy fishing hardbaits at times but a weightless plastic or a jig is most always what I start with and usually what I stick with.

When I was growing up we almost always fished with crankbaits so when I got back into fishing about 15 years ago I started out with crankbaits. Then for about 7 years I fished almost exclusively with plastics. I’ve gotten to the point now where I have realized that one is not better than the other, but it’s about what the bass are hitting.
