I've never really hadthis issue lol. But I know people are different... I wear a lot of sandals so what I'd say is that anything fabric- no. Look for something that has a synthetic/rubber sole. I have some Magellan close toed sandals that I got for $20 at academy that are all synthetic and well-known to be water friendly. Also, Columbia Sportswear makes some very water-friendly sandals as well, I also have a pair of those in open toe. For flip flops I would recommend something like a Reef. Bit more pricy, but mine have held up pretty nicely minus one pair that I over abused getting them stuck in mud and one of the sides slipped. But for the most part, I've worn them all over rivers, streams, in the ocean, across water parks... very comfortable and durable. Give them a drop of krazy glue on both sides when brand new to make them last even longer, just for extra assurance if you're as rough on shoes as I am.

I love my crocs. All day comfort, water friendly. You just need thick skin for all the croc haters.

Have to agree although I have started wearing tennis shoes in the boat lately

I always wear crocs for all activities especially fishing. I do have more than a few around my house. It is great for rock, sand and water but not slippery stuff and it last a long time. One bad thing small sand and rock can get it pretty easily and it is very annoying.

For boat and kayak I use speedo water/hybrid shoes, dry pretty quick and not bad for anti slip.

I've been wearing Keen (Newport Hydro, I believe) water shoes for years and they've been fantastic. They drain fast, get reasonably good traction wet wading, and tend to not smell horrible after a day on the water.

Crocs are a cheap solution. I just don't like that sand and gravel don't drain well out of them. If you don't mind spending 100 bucks, Simms Curretns Shoe, and Riprap Shoe are great options. I've worn older versions of both. They drain well, dry fast, comfortable, and no stink!

I’ve had some Keen sandals for about 6-7 years and after taking the boat out of the lake/river and onto the trailer I’d step in the water at some point. But then I have to throw the sandals in the boat for the ride home because they get so raunchy. I thought it was just Keen, but I’m thinking anything that isn’t 100% rubber is going to soak in water. Must be the cloth/nylon straps or whatever are just enough to cause problems.

I wear classic Crocs while kayaking.

I wear the Crocs Swiftwater leather Fisherman sandals for everything else.

I love my Keen sandals! You do have to put them in the sun from time to time (without your feet in them) to activate the odor control. That is recommended from the factory. They have worked for me for over 10 years. All I wear in the summer. I get really funky tiger stripe tan lines on my feet from them. Best I have found for comfort and protection of my toes.

Love my crocs but I half to admit they start to stink on the way home. Also have a pair of Keens that I absolutely love

Keen is. It says it right on the footbed. A little time in the sun activates it and kills the bacteria. I also usually take a light brush and scrub with dish soap a couple times during summer then time in the sun.

I think you’re right about the footbed. The part of the sandal I think soaks up the water and gets rank are the straps, unless those are antimicrobial too.

Those are what I wash with soap and a brush a few times per summer. I would suspect that lake and river water would make anything a little stanky!!

I have a pair of croc flip flops that I absolutely love. They are comfortable and they can get wet and have virtually no odor. I also have a pair of under armor boat shoes that I wear that are really comfortable but my feet sweat like nobodies business during the heat of summer and it causes them to stink up pretty good. I wear the crocs 8 out of 10 trips out when the weather is good.

toe shoes are a NO GO that is that. i use REEFs because they justfit and they have them with cotton thongs.

Keen Newport H2O are anti bacterial/fungal wading sandals. They are very ugly, but the most comfortable I've been able to find.

Huk looks like it makes a good fishing shoe - I personally use Columbia boat shoes (Bahama PFG and similar styles). They have water channels in the soles and some styles have a breathable mesh top layer.

As long as it isn't cold out, I like wearing flip flops.

I just picked these up at Cabela's last week, They seem well-made. And the traction on the bottom is better than most other flip flops I've had in the past. For $20, you can't go wrong IMO.

I have a pair in black. Have had them for about 4 years. The sole is wearing out a little, but I love them. I am a size 14 (sucks) but my wife and kids slip on the Aruba to step outside quick to get the mail or something out of the garage. They sit by the door all year long. I am a huge Keen fan as you can tell. I wear their casual dress shoes to work (have 3 pairs), wear the sandals all summer long (have 5 pairs total). Love the wide toe box on the shoes and the sandals offer toe protection but let air in. All have anti-microbial treatment.

I have two pairs of Teva water sandals that have been excellent. I loved my Crocs until the bottoms wore a bit and they became like ice skates at the boat launch....
