Hello, my name is Caleb Luzader I am 12 years old and am a avid fisherman as just and avid outdoorsman. I run a 1988 Ranger with a 2003 150 h.p. Johnson outboard. Here is some things about me and what I would do for your company. I hope you take this application/resume/proposal into consideration.
I started fishing when I was about 2 years old with my dad fishing in a local pond, but just about 2 years ago I found my true passion for fishing. In January of 2007 I found the Cleveland Jr. Bassmasters it was almost like a dream come true. Tournaments for kids my age. That year I ended up finishing third in my age bracket. Now this year I received a boat for my "Easter Gift" or pretty much a family gift. Now almost every weekend I am either out on the lake or at a pond. So that was just a little about me now about what I can do for your company.
My goal for your company
My goal for your company is to boost sales, bring more customers, and help advertise your company. I will advertise your company by putting logos on cars, shirts, boats, using your company's name while speaking, and using your products in tournaments, when fishing, and when demonstrating 'how to' things.

You might want to find some more things you can do for their company. Like try to get it into fishing stores around you. Stay away from cars and go to boats.
what do you mean CARS and thanks that will be a good Idea.
How you said you would advertise by putting logos on cars. That aint ganna get you no where!!
lol yes it does. sponsors make stickers to put on your truck too
First, I would start by bringing it to your English teacher to correct mistakes in grammar and some of your sentences are either hard to read or don't make much sense. Also it is awsome that you have your own boat, but some sponsors may look at it in a negative way that a 12 year old is running a 60 mph bass boat. You might want to include the fact that you have a safety certification or something along those lines. And also a link to your website would be a great idea.
Looks good and love the site. Nice to see someone so young trying to go big. Just don't let it go to your head.
QuoteHow you said you would advertise by putting logos on cars. That aint ganna get you no where!!
Yeah it will. Like Brett said, some companies make decals. Put your decals on your truck.
Sure. Id still recomend on boats. More fisherman. Start wearing their shirt around. For blackdogrc (my rc sponsor) I wear his shirt to school all the time, I add the name of the company onto my planes, I make big banners and pull them with my rc planes, and I tell others on websites to check it out.
Sorry Diawa but not to bust your bubble or anything but I have a dress code at school I have to wear certain things I cant were t's and we are talking about fishing not RC planes
;D lol, that was a burn and a half
Bassnbrett Diawa will read that and I garuntee you I will have a pm or he will blast me on his next comment on this post. lol
lol i know but it was still fun to read
12 years old and running a 150? Cleveland,Ohio? I am not any enforcement agency or anything, but in Ohio I think the law says you cannot operate a boat of more than ten horsepower unless you are over 16 and had a safety course. I can check this out to make sure if you want. How do you get your boat to the lake? Does dad take you there and wait 8 hours while you compete in a tourney? Or did you maybe get a new Tahoe and special Jr. Bassmaster drivers license to go along with that Ranger? I am not trying to bust up any dreams a 12 year old may have. I know we need all the fishermen we can get , but you have to know you cannot legally sign any sponsor contracts til you are 18. Right. Like Tin says impress your english teacher first. I GARANTEE you will get further with a college degree than you will with bass fishing. Trying to be #1 in your bass club would problably help too if you would like to advance in competitive fishing. Nobody remembers 2nd place let alone third.
OH I see Cleveland, Tennesee. Things must be waaaayyyy different down there huh? I still don't see a 12 year old being able to operate that type of boat. Let alone get it to the lake.
in all junior tournaments there has to be an adult aboard to fish, so he probably does have his dad with him at all times. I'm not real sure but I think a younger person can get a sponsership as long as his/her legal guardian is there. He's still young yet too, as am I but I don't any problem with him having a resume. There are kid sponsers out there to help with juniors, they usually do wait until the kid has moved up through the state however and with the kids people sponser teams usually.
this was meant as no offense to you the tr20one, I just don't want to see his dreams squashed.
Thats what I was hinting at 20. Also if a sponsor sees that you are 12 and have a Ranger, then you obviously have money to just buy stuff from them and there is no need for them to sponsor you. And in your resume by saying "you run" your Ranger with a 150 and you really don't. Then some could say you are lying. :-/
But besides that it does look good, there are just certain things you need to watch for.
In Junior B.A.S.S tournaments, the adult runs the big motor. The kids can only run the trolling motor.
QuoteIn Junior B.A.S.S tournaments, the adult runs the big motor. The kids can only run the trolling motor.
In some states you have to even have a boaters safety certificate/license to operate the trolling motor.

Yes, that is correct. We have to have one here in Missouri.
OK guys I see that there is a little confusion with the boat I do not run the boat my dad does for RIGHT NOW I am studying for the test right now and We did buy the boat in Ohio and my dad and I fish togethar he takes me to the lake
No offense at all. The reality of it is though sponsors or no that is a tough life a pro has. Looking to get full rides at 12 is a bit much and a back-up plan is not mentioned. Your sponsor want results and a angler needs a bit of a following to be relevant. Let's be honest I would maybe ask him how the fish were biting if I saw him but it would be awefully hard to take heavy advice from such a young guy let alone listening to a sponsor pitch. Reach for the stars but make sure you have your feet on the ground!!
Thetr20 I garuntee you that sponsors wouldn't not look at me I know how to talk and they want someone that knows how to talk. Not saying that I am just boom going to get one. I need some practice thats why I am going fishing after school and during school when I can read I am reading a fishing book.
I really dont like the bad comments in this thread. He specifically asked to please help with mistakes. Not critisize him for what he posted. I mean come on guys, give him a break. He is 12.
Basspro you are not feeling what is being said. There comes a point when fishing becomes a job and is not fun fishing anymore. It is now fishing for your paycheck. No paycheck,no money,no fun. You are on the right track by being in a club and wanting to pursue fishing but, I assure you NOTHING in life is GARANTEED. Fishing may not be here forever. Just slow down a bit and be 12 for awhile. If you are what you say you are people and sponsors will notice. I dont know what would make you think sponsors want people who can talk over people who can back up their talk with performance. They could hire a professional speaker if that was the case. Diawa nobody is intentionally being mean or wanting him to be put off. I was and still am trying to firmly stress the importance of an education. That is the ONLY thing a 12 year old young man should be taking so serious at that age.

Agreed! Professional fishing is a big job
Yes I agree with what you said but if a guy can go and catch a world record bass and then the company asks him to speak somewhere and all he does is mumble and studder or doesn't know what to say most likely the sponsor will drop him because he can't promote the product.
To be perfectly honest the man who catches the next world record could be a mute and it would not matter. I would rather listen to a stuttering, mumbling KVD (we know he doesn't) than a well spoken Joe Shmoe from Idaho.

I understand that and thats why it is kind of nice to live in MN. We got many months with ice and cant wait to get out on the lake.
This all seems to be constructive criticism, not dream smashing. He should take the advice and either put it to use or don't, but advice is being given to him. Education should be a higher priority for a kid your age especially if you'll be looking for sponsors while in your final years of High school. Companies will look at GPA's and if yours is too low they wont even consider you. This early in life, your GPA is really the only thing that says a lot about your character, personality, and work ethic. I know of a few companies that have MINIMUM GPA's that need to be met in order to be CONSIDERED for the Jr Staff. If I was in your position and had a local club, I'd just focus on getting as many wins as possible for the time being. Fishing for the most part shouldn't be too expensive for a kid your age as you don't have to pay for gas, a boat, etc. and they were right when they said that most adults wont look to a 12 year old for advice...unless you have a beard ;D
My friend has a beard! And yes if I smart off to my dad then I have to give him 90 bucks to fill up the boat!

X2. Thanks Kozak . I guess I was being a little complicated. You said it perfectly.

This is what I am talking about there bass pro. Just tell us you would have to do chores or something if you smarted off to dad. Telling people you would have to "pay dad" makes them wonder. I am 33 and never have I had to pay my dad anything at all. And I make more money than him. I do buy him breakfasts and gifts but he has never asked me to pay him back for being his son. When I smarted off I got whupped.. Remember this and I am done "when you tell the truth you don't have to have a good memory". I am a dad too I know what youngins go through.

How does that make any connection to what theTr20one said?
My friend has a beard! And yes if I smart off to my dad then I have to give him 90 bucks to fill up the boat!
wow a 12 yr old with a ranger and has 90 bucks to give to his dad. must be nice. lol i just bought my first bass boat and i am 20yrs old and it isnt no ranger. the only reason i could buy it is becuase i was deployed to the desert for so long.
My dad bought the boat. And today he made me pay for a pass to a ramp I just got payed 80$ for mowing my neighbors yard for two weeks. And he made me spend half of it for a ramp pass. And yes I do get wooped and grounded and smacked and everything else if I say or do something that my parents don't like.

100% correct.

A few years ago I was sponsored by Nationwide Insurance company and all I had to do is go talk to my local agent. They had been my insurance company ever since I had been driving. They helped me out they gave me over 5 thousand dollars to help me with the years many tournaments. I was unable to fish many of the tournaments and I lost the sponsorship for that year. If you are looking for a sponsor make sure you can provide for them! Do not just look out for yourself here. That was my main mistake. If you know you cannot make all the tournaments dont bother asking. They want someone that is willing to be like another employee for them. They want you to go to boat/outdoor shows and advertise for them. It sounds so much easier then it actually is. Many times they asked me to go I was wanting to fish I went to several shows and when I went I would have to speak in front of large crowds about this insurance company and I looked like a fool becuse I was unable to show what I did for them. Just remember this and learn from my mistakes. Good luck to you friend!

Rangers Rock! I got one!
I think this thread should be locked. I just read through the whole thing and it is going absolutely nowhere.
Basspro96, here's my answer for you. Your 12 years old. End of story. Beard or not, stop looking for sponsors. Concetrate on your school work, and try and find ways through teachers, mentors, friends, local classes, ANYTHING to better your self-marketing and how you approach and speak to people. This is just my opinion, but if I were a potential sponsor reading this thread, I would have a very negative opinion about you and would certainly not sponsor you.
Just so you know, many of the big bait companies frequent this forum so you got to learn how to sound professional. Again, I am not bashing you, just giving you the advice you asked for from a younger persons point of view. Sponsorship is tough man. I'm 18 and I've been very blessed with big tournament success this last year and I'm still WAY at the bottom of the totum pole with my sponsors.
Like I said, concentrate on school first off....sponsors don't want some kid who can't read or write, learn in any way you can how to market yourself better, beef up your resume, and last, go out and win some tournaments.
