Sponsorsssssss 2024

fishing user avatarbaitcaster1010 reply :

Does anyone know of anyone who would sponser 2 sixteen year olds.

We are really looking for a sponsor and really have been fishing hard.

Thanks to anyone who can help :) :) :)

fishing user avatarGatorbassman reply :

Why?

fishing user avatarbaitcaster1010 reply :

Well that is a very good question and I think I have a very good answer. The reason I am looking for a sponsor is becouse I really enjoy fishing and just love to be out on the water as much as I can. The problem is that my dad is having to help me pay for everything now becouse I don't really have time to get a job. I would promote the product everywhere I went I would share my fishing experience with the product whereever I go. So i guess the reason that I would like to have a sponsor is so I can get out on the water more and I really love to fish.

What do you think?????????

fishing user avatarLow_Budget_Hooker reply :

Please read around this section a bit and see just exactly what you are asking to get involved in.  There is much more to this than just saying, here's free stuff, tell people you like it.

Start by reading the sticky by Marcia Ruben.

I would say that you really need to study and then come back

with a much better answer. This is big business and you need a

big business answer. What you gave is a 16 year old's answer.

fishing user avatarDaiwa reply :

Yea, read the thread that JT started called "want sponsors". Its got good info.

fishing user avatarbaitcaster1010 reply :

I totally understand what all of you are trying to tell me. I know from experience that a sponsor will not just happen. You have to work hard at what you are trying to do to get sponsored. The experience that I was talking about is through hunting. I have been trying to get on a pro staff for hunting for a really long time and finally I am about to make that dream come true. I have one finall thing I have to accomplish to be on this hunting prostaff that I have been working on for a while now and it is finally paying off. I am willing to take any advice from anyone. I'll be honest with you I have just started looking in to fishing sponsors and really dont know the whole story behind them which means that I am willing to take alot of advice. So THANKS.... Im not new to fishing though. I actually fished in a tournament on the TN river and didn't do to bad in it.......

So please help me out anyway you can and I did read the post you all told me to read and I know now alittle more about what im trying to get into.   THANKS again :);) ;)

fishing user avatarBassnbrett101 reply :

To try and make your resume a little bigger i would suggest joining a jr. bass club and trying to fish more tournaments.  Sponsors like tournaments

Hey Man,

Im glad to see you are thinking about tournament bass fishing, and I myself am not a tournament fisherman, but through experience of Tournament Paintball I know a thing or two about sponsorships and forming relationships with companies. You must understand Tournament Fishing is a lot more than just loving to fish. It is a business, a big business, and when a company commits itself to you, you need to be commited 110 percent. I'm not sure how old you are but just judging by your posts i'd say not too old. Slow down, you have a long time to go pro. Practice, Study, Fish Tournaments, form relationships through tournaments and get to know what the business is all about. If you are still sure in a few years that it is something you want to be fully commited to then I would say you have a good resume to put together to show companies that you are in it for the long haul, and are the kind of person that can give back to them for payment of their support. I wish you best of luck in whatever you do, and remember to do well in school too! ;)

Take Care,

Hawg

fishing user avatarTriton9 reply :

Yes, you need a better answer. Iam 15 and am sponsored and its alot harder work than what the average angler thinks, and do you fish many tournaments and are you "good enough" to hold your sponsorship(s). You have to be at the top of your game all the time. So take these and many more things into perspective and rethink your answer. ;)

fishing user avatarKozak reply :

Yeah, I'd say you'd probably need a better answer than the one you gave.

The part that really stuck out to me was:

  Quote
So i guess the reason that I would like to have a sponsor is so I can get out on the water more

The reason being: The goal of companies and sponsors isn't to get you out onto the water more, it's for you to advertise their product and represent them everywhere.  Getting out on the water more and fishing tournaments are sort of just a side-effect if you think about it.

fishing user avatarbaitcaster1010 reply :

kozak if you look in that post a little more i did talk about that part of that. I understand all of that I have experienced that through hunting as i stated earlier.... but i do understand where your coming from and il be honest im new to the fishing sponsor thing and yes i do fish in a tournament every saturday......

Thanks to all

Earlier, you stated, "I actually fished in a tournament on the TN river and didn't do to bad in it." That statement led me to believe that you have only fished ONE tournament. Now you are plainly stating that you fish a tournament every week.

My advice to you for obtaining a fishing sponsor is that when you say or write something you do it clearly and honestly.

When you wrote that you fished "a tournament on the TN river and didn't do to(o) bad in it," and later added that you fish a tournament every Saturday it sounds like you are making up a lie as you go along (I don't believe you are), or that you typically do very poorly in tournaments since you only mentioned success in one of them (I doubt that's the case either). I believe you simply need to be clear in what you say. :)

One more piece of advice: Take the time to use proper grammar and punctuation. If nothing else, capitalize the first word of each sentence and the word "I." Anyone who is successful enough to be in the position to offer you a sponsorship would most certainly be annoyed with your writing skills. I know this is only an internet fishing forum, but practice here will pay off later. ;)

Good luck,

Preach

fishing user avatarBassnbrett101 reply :

Great Advice preach4bass, it was very well put.

fishing user avatar7magJake reply :

well,

I asked the same question early this year, I work for my dad and I do not have time to fish tournaments but when I graduate and begin to work, I am going to, school really can mess up tourney fishing, get done with school, Im not college material, Im much better with my hands so Im going to become and elctronics tech and hopefully work with boats and that will get me started, but enough about me.

If you do not have time for a job a sponsor does not have time for you, just try to fish these cheaper local tourneys and try to work, I can tell you if you slack off too much in the first years they will cut you loose as t the drop of a hat, its hard work, dont expect to be a millionaire KVandam overnight, if you started tomorrow you would be mid 20's before you really start makeing good money.

Dont get discouraged its a hard process but once you there fishing and sponsored its there as long as you can catch fish.

fishing user avatarHawg Fan reply :

Again guys, refer to my previous post about being young and having time to gain experience, knowledge of the business, and molding yourself into a well rounded individual through school and life experiences. Your interests change all the time while growing up, so dont get knee deep in the proverbial quick-sand. Being a successful competitor in any sport isnt just about the love of the game, its about what I have described above. I am only about to be twenty years old, and I plan to start my tournaments when I am around thirty when I am somewhat financially stable, slow and steady wins the race...most of the time. ;)

Good Luck,

Hawg Fan

fishing user avatarDaiwa reply :

Its not easy work. I have to go through numerous forums to advertise blackdogrc. I have to keep my flying good and atend events. I test his stuff for him but get to keep it.

fishing user avatarbasspro96 reply :

Ok Diawa this is a fishing website AGAIN! This is a fishing website rc and fishing a very different. But man make up a resume but get ready for dissapointment. TRUST ME! ;D! I swung for the fence and missed too many times.

fishing user avatarDaiwa reply :

TRUST YOU? Your 12! What am I trusting you with?

fishing user avatarbasspro96 reply :

So just cause I am 12 doesn't mean I haven't tried before and failed.

fishing user avatarDaiwa reply :

Ya but you see, ive got other hobbies not just fishing!

RC has way more advertising that needs to be done. Ive got to help him with his website, im in the process of making his magazine/blog. Its alot of work, where in fishing, your just advertising.

fishing user avatarKozak reply :

Stop arguing, you sound like fools, especially on a highly respected fishing forum.

Daiwa, I don't think RC is going to be a place to advertise for fishing companies. Good luck selling jigs or plastic worms to people who RC...

What the heck are you talking about. :-/

fishing user avatarDaiwa reply :

I was giving an example. Im really not likeing the additude from the people on this forum. Im thinking bout staying off here.

fishing user avatarLow_Budget_Hooker reply :

You're not always going to get answers you like,..ESPECIALLY in this section.  This is where we lay it out the way it is.

Realize that you represent RC everywhere!  You should watch your spelling and grammar as Preach suggests.  If I sponsored you, you would get an email from me telling you to spell check before posting another word with my company name in it.  Your grammar is all over the map.  Sponsorship can work 2 ways remember that.  If I were into RC stuff, I would probably AVOID your sponsors products as he seems to give very little stock into what he expects from folks who represent his company.

Something to ponder,...if fishing were "just advertisement",...I'd have a lot more time on my hands.  Fulfilling contractual obligations for sponsorships takes a lot more than you seem willing to realize.  Evidently, it's not the same in the RC world, but in the retail world of fishing,...it's not just free stuff in exchange for spreading the word at a weekend tourny.

These are not harsh answers, these are reality, and that is what this section is all about.

just because people are giving you truthful answers is no reason to cry about it.  I think you should just stop arguing about RC planes on these forums and talk more about bass fishing like everyone else.  You completely stole this poor guys post  :-/

fishing user avatarTin reply :

It's called CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM! Learn to take it and learn from it, you will be getting it your entire life.

O ya, and if you go anywhere else, you will get the same attitude if not worse. Ever think it could be you?
