Folks,
The Mrs finally agreed that a bass boat that could still be used recreationalially was a good idea. I have been looking at Lunds and really like them. Just looking for feedback or thoughts.....rivets or weld
I also have young grandchildren so that too has to be a consideration
Thanks
Al
First of all Al, congratulations on hammering out a groundbreaking familial decision
Among the aluminum hulls I've owned or have been closely associated with are Tracker, Starcraft,
Crestliner, Lund, Princecraft and others. If I ever decide to purchase another aluminum boat,
it will definitely be a 'Lund'
Roger
Thanks Roger, now it is time to do some shopping....I like the Alaskan, but may need to compromise
I am am in a similar situation. My wife wants a family friendly boat, which I want for fishing. I am not purchasing until fall or next spring. I am looking at everything from fiberglass to aluminum and fish and ski. I like a lot of the Lund models, but they can get pricey real quick, with a lot less horsepower than some other manufacturers. I like the looks of the impact and crossover.

I too like the crossover as does the Mrs but I don't need anything that pretty....would love a boat I didn't have to cover
I have owned a Lund since 2013, which I purchased new. First and foremost, I have never felt unsafe in the boat. The hull will handle rough water better than an equally sized fiberglass bass boat. The layout is all about fishing and well thought out storage. Better than that of, I believe, any other brand of fishing boat, fiberglass or aluminum. As far as serviceability like pulling wires for graphs, access to batteries and pumps, etc again, well thought out. As far as cost, sure, they cost a few bucks more than other aluminum boats in their class. The Lund name will also hold it's value longer than other aluminum brands. Ignore the pricing on their "boat builder" and go in and talk numbers with multiple dealers.
Test driving a Tyee tomorrow, but the pro v is also looking good, but doubt the Mrs would let the pendulum swing that far

The Alaskan and Crossover are 2 quite different boats. Mama's going to want to go cruising, and grandkids are going to want to tube and swim. I think the Alaskan is out

The Tyee is a big boat. Considerably larger than all but the Baron.
Two boats I looked at this year were the Lund Crossover and the Alumacraft Edge. These seemed to be the best options if you like to fish and plan on doing a lot of tubing and water activities with the family. I would take either. They do get spendy quick. I decided to keep mine for a while longer, but when I do pull the trigger, it will be one of these two.
I have owned three aluminum boats, all about 17 feet. My son has a Crestliner, about 18 feet. Of the 4 boats 2 were welded hulls and 2 were riveted, the last one my current Lund. Both welded hulls wander at just above a trolling speed, demanding constant correction at the natural speed for leaving a launch in the no-wake zone. Both riveted hulls do not; they track straight. It is because the welded hulls I have experience with do not have keels. I talked to an engineer from Monark, my second boat, and he said that keels are only used if they feel they are needed, and on my boat, they didn't think it was needed. But its wander was such that I never got used to it. My new boat is a Lund 1650 and it does not wander.
The storage execution on my current Lund is far superior to the other boats I had, the structural feel is excellent, its handling is excellent. It has two things I wish were better. Shift-throttle cable effort is a little high. Dealer says it will get better with use. Second, the routing of the cables with a big high loop seems out of line, intruding into the back casting "platform" area. I haven't talked to Lund but the dealer says it's correct. But this is the same dealer who told me I didn't need to know how deep the water is above trolling speed.
Too bad one cannot get a Suzuki 4 stroke on a Lund. My old Suzuki was a much nicer, quieter, engine than the Merc that comes with Lund and Crestliner.
Considering all I am glad I bought the Lund.
Interestingly, Lund and Crestliner are built in the same factory, one on the welding line and one on the riveting line.
I was a fiberglass owner for years. Weight and being a bit overkill, I switched to aluminum. I'm on my second Tracker and love it. My first was a Pro Team 175. I've had my Pro Team 190 for about 5 years. I love it. Welded hull, I can't say that I've ever had issues. Can only say Im more than satisfied with mine. If I had bought a Lowe or Lund I'm sure I'd be saying the same thing.
I strongly believe if I had young kids or wife that was a boating regular I would not want a pro bass style craft. There are many deeper V's out there that will serve you better and would be great for bass fishing also. But if they are only going to go out once and awhile get a style you want. Just my thought.
Trying a Revel and Impact tomorrow, something tells me the impact might be the compromise
gator trax if you want a good quality boat. any other if you dot care. lund would be my second choice.
You'll be quite pleased with Lund's quality.
Good luck!

Go with the impact. Much bigger than the Rebel and a wider platform which equates to more stability and a better ride

That is exactly what I was thinking, now so or straight Impact......

I wanted a Deep V Lund bad but had to compromise plus they were to tall to fit in my garage .
I had two bass boats in the past , then went boat-less for a few years . In that time I fished from a canoe , small plastic boat and jon boat .My wife said it was time for her to get a boat that she liked and kept mentioning a pontoon . Noooo! I searched the internet and found a 22 foot Lowe Deck boat in great condition .The wife loves it and it doesnt fish to bad .The high sides catch wind , so it can be difficult to control on windy days when trying to fish shallow cover .
The worst thing about it is bass fishermen in their tournament boats dont think twice about cutting me off because obviously I dont know what I'm doing and must be perch jerker , fishing out of a craft like that . LOL
Good luck on your purchase , I'm envious .

I deal with the same thing fishing out my rig...

I actually had a Hurricane that was a deck boat, and after seeing your rig, I wish I had followed your lead.....it would have saved me money in the long run
How did the test rides go, what are your thoughts on the boats you have tested so far?

The impact definitely has my attention, while it doesn't best the pro v, it shares some nice characteristics....
The Rebel is something I could live with, if it was a second boat or divorced, but then again if divorced the Pro V would be in my yard?
I want @A-Jay boat
