There are so many different bass boat brands out there and i always wondered which was the best. I know most people have their favorites for whatever reason, but i'd like to know what makes one better then the other? For example: what makes a Ranger better then say a Skeeter or vice versa?
If I had a choice I probably wouldnt know where to go first. Ranger? Skeeter? Triton? Champion? Bass Cat?Nitro?
Let me know what you guys think
For me it would be a Skeeter FX21 or a Triton 21X3 Pro DC.....................S E X Y!!!! 8-)
Unfortunately, Boats don't catch fish.....
But, if I had no limit I would probably go with a Skeeter. PURTY LOOKIN, stable, good customer service
Probably a Triton 20X3 or a Ranger Z519.
i love the z-7 or z-9 so either would work if i had no limit on spending money.
Whatever gets me to the multiple spots in a give day to catch the multiple huge fish in my hopeful future
What did Doug Hannon fish out of again?
But, hey, dont I too want to buy the biggest fanciest boat I can afford with all the trimmings - I want a piece of the status pie too - I am not familiar with all the brands - my neighbor has a nice triton and it is really sweet so Ill say triton - with a big motor, 3 huge sonar units, power pole, one of those auto trolling motor deals, and a rotating lazy boy on the bow.....of course, when everything is said in done, my status mobile probably wont catch any more fish than that dude in the skiff
Ranger. Still building legends- you know the rest. I am not sure why, just something about em.

I think there is something really cool about a Gambler too, though.

Bass Cat.
If money were not a consideration, the new Bass Cat Eyra would head the list, followed by the Nitro Z9.
I'd have no clue what I'd actually pick out. That Gambler Sterling sure as hell is really nice looking though...
I have recently driven Skeeter's new FX 20 with the new Yamaha 250 VMAX SHO V6 and I have to agree "It's the ultimate combination of Skeeter performance and Yamaha muscle."
Gatorjet fish and ski with a 454 motor and a flippin deck all the way to the consoles. They will run high 50's to low 60's in real skinny water and fish like the glass boats.
I would pick the Sterling, that's a nice boat. The other one would be a Skeeter.
Ranger Z19
BassCat Cougar, I did this last year lol.
For me, at the end, Skeeter was a close second. With the new SHO, I'm not sure I wouldn't have landed in that camp.
After some serious thought I would have to stay with a CustomGheenoe LT-25. Just happens to be the only boat capable of getting into the swamp I fish. If I fished open water I would have to look at Bass Cat.
If Champion wasn't in jeopardy I would pick them, otherwise I would be in a BassCat
I've fished as co-angler in BFL for a number of years. I've ridden in some nice boats. A few stand out in my memories. At Grand Lake in Oklahoma, I drew a guy who had a brand new Ranger Z series - 21 '. It had a 250 Mercury Verado on it and at 3/4 throttle it was going 60+ mph and you could carry on a conversation while you were moving. The wind noise was louder than the motor noise.
There was another guy I drew two years in a row (2 different lakes). He had a newer 20 Bass Cat. Both days were very windy with rough water and we made modest runs both bays (18 to 20 miles one way) Absolutely the smoothest riding boat I'd ever been in. I know in that situation alot of the ride depends on the driver, but still, it was the smoothest ride on 2 to 3 foot white caps I'd ever had.
All the major brands are basically good. For me it would come down to which dealer I got along with the best.
If the subject turns to aluminum boats, I'd go with Express. They are great boats. The issue with them is a limited dealer network.
As bein raised around rangers buildig tem an what not i would say Ranger Commanche, you can take them anywher fill em full of water and the wont sink and you can get through culverts and what not..
Thats just my opionion.
Ranger Z521 I stopped on the way home from the lake to pick up a plug for my live well. The dealer sells Ranger and Lowe. I asked the owner if he had seen the new Ranger and he said he had one that they had sold, and were preparing for delivery. He asked if I wanted to look at it. I told him I would like to see it, but if he had anything that needed doing not to waste time with me, because I do not have the means to buy one. : It is one sweet machine. HDS-7 in the console and 5X surface mounted up front. To your door for 62-64K. 8-)
BASSCAT.... any model 8-)
Basscat
i dont know... ive ridden in two bass cats... dont know the models... and then i ride in a ranger every weekend.
the bass cats seem cheap to me. i mean.. they ride good and everything... but like mentioned before all the brands have great boats at high price points.
it just seemed the basscats were a bit cheap feeling to me. and the neon grab handles? ick. they gonna put spinners on the trailer tires next?
for me with no limit on money id have to get a ranger or triton.
Skeeter 22i...just because.
Can't believe nobody has mentioned a Phoenix. I know I'm getting ready to buy one. They have thought of everything. LED's in all the boxes and livewell, awesome tackle storage, even the net storage is pretty cool even though not very practical. I am looking forward to ordering mine in the next month or so. Just gotta sell this motorcycle first.
Bass Cat Puma FTD
Couldn't be happier with my Z22/Merc Racing 300.
If money were no object, then why limit it to one boat?
I'd find the best condition Champion 202 I could find and drop a new Yammie SHO on the back.
Yes, the boat would easily be 10 years old but the 202's were one of the best running boats ever.
Bass Cat Jaguar
I must be a strange person. If I had unlimited money, I would keep my boat (2009 tracker pt 175 txw), I would however, take out the TM, and graph (I keep drooling over the HDS-10) and MAJORLY upgrade them, I would also upgrade the trailer a bit more, get 2 spares, rig it for longer trips, etc. Maybe install some LED's under the rail and in the rod lockers and storage areas.
For me right now, that would make my perfect rig

X2. Those boats look freakin' amazing and they have everything you could possible want. I wish I had the oppurtunity to drive one.
My current boat, Champion 210 Elite. I thought my old Champion 201 rode nice and smooth but it does not compare to the ride of my 210.
Stratos 201XL Evolution.
Allison XB-21 BasSport Pro, if money were no object. Seeing that it is a 10 Sears Gamefisher Jonboat will do for now....oh yeah, my new Wilderness Systems Ride 135 kayak
Allison XB21 prosport with a 300 Merc
