Answer: It's just a newer model, it's a full enclosed storage area underneath. The wheels make a big difference when trying to move it around. It's most likely the same gauge steel. But I'd say it's worth it just to have a newer production date and a place to store your pellets. I love mine.

AS Foellmi : Temp Control Ruined my First Smoker Meal
Really easy to build. Strong construction. But tried all weekend to get it to smoke and the temp controller overshot the desired temp by 200F. Now I need to work with the provider to see what the replacement process will be. Really disappointing.

Bought this the other day, the shipping was a nightmare to start with. Finally got it going and it doesn’t come close to the temps on the knob (see pics). It will smoke for about 5 minutes and then gets too hot and just starts cooking with no smoke (or very little) temp is all over the place. When I talked with customer service they told me to open the vent more, I took the cap completely off in these pics. Hope this gets resolved, starting to wish I had just bought a name brand locally.

This was a gift and my husband has never been happier. It ranks on the top of all gifts. Three hours after it was opened, it was put together and tested. First opportunity we got the pellets and had a wonderful dinner that evening. Since Christmas we have cooked may delicious meals, from ham to ribs. All have all turned excellent. We have given away two smokers to friends as this is the only one we need. I would recommend this smoker to any serious chef. Love it. Love it.

This smoker I highly recommend, but do not order a cover or the buket to catch the grease as the meat is smoking,because a cover come with the Z Grill and also a buket.
I made the mistake and ordered a ZGrill Cover, and when I went to send it back, the company would not give me a full refund, because Angie said that the company cannot put it back on the shelve. The ZGrill Ckver almostv cost, $60 , and Z Grill Company offered me $8.00 back, and I on top that,, I would have to paid $10 for shipping. So be aware of this company before you order anything extra.
Also, there was no cooking instructions. However,
they have a guarantee, and instructions on how to start the thing, but no manual either.

Wow, I am impressed. I had been talking to friends that have purchased and used Traeger Pellet Smokers for years. I did not have the budget to purchase a Traeger, however finally decided to go for the Z Grill. Now the friends that have the Traeger are jealous as I have a equal functioning Pellet Grill with more for the money. Love the double rack, the enclosed lower section, and the cover that is much better quality than I expected. I love the temperature control accuracy, and the excellent smoke control these units provide. After initial fire up procedure per directions, and checking with my temp probes, my first cook was King Crab Legs. I had no hesitation to use this grill for a 225° / 25 minute cook of 2 lbs crab legs. I have since cooked country style ribs,Porter House Steak, and Pork Belly. I could not be happier. I smoke for years with a Propane / Wood smoker, and thought I was a Pro. Now with this set it and forget it method of Pellet grill, I wonder why I took so much time babysitting a smoker for what this system can do with very little effort. Go visit friends while the pellet grill works flawlessly.
Update 01/16/19 Had to down grade my likes for this pellet grill because there is no way to purge / change out the pellets once loaded. You either have to disassemble the hopper and dump them out, or just use them up to change types of wood. This is a major design flow that should have never happened in my opinion. The older Z Grills had this feature, and they have since taken it away.

Thing is awesome. Just as a heads up! Cause it caught me off guard! Got one tracking number when I opened the box I was missing half of the parts. Great customer service though I was informed in hours a second shipment would arrive the following day which it did. (Recieved 2nd tracking number after asking) Would have relieved some stress if the tracking info mentioned 1 of 2 or anything aside from nothing. First box didnt even say 1 of 2

I have this grill , purchased November 2020. It has never worked right . Temp control doesn't not work . It smolders back through the auger tube and catches hopper on fire . Among other issues . Customer service sucks . They refuse to warranty or replace the grill . I am fighting with them to this day . They offered me $50 as compensation to buy a new grill . They are a joke . Do not purchase a product from zgrills .

RAKJ : Easy to use and great tasting food
Have always liked having the taste of food cooked over charcoal and the speed of gas. This combines them and is truly consistent with temperature. The pellets I have used (Mesquite because my wife is a Texan) give the meat a great smoked flavor with a relatively short cook time if wanted or a slower time if preferred. I've been using it in the winter on a covered deck and it maintains temp really well. I get my pellets delivered from Amazon, but since I got the grill, you see pellets for them everywhere you go. Just wasn't looking I suppose. As for clean up, it is incredibly easy. Videos for everything on the website. Highly recommend the remote thermometer.

1st impression wasnt good. Arrived damaged, unnecessarily uses both bolt and screw heads with the same length and thread, and following the supplied start up instructions gets you an error code. If you can work your way around all that it actually makes some of the best meat you'll ever have! Once it starts the temp will ramp up way past the set point but will settle back down and stay +-20 degrees of where you want it. I have smoked 5 different meats so far and they all came out great. Material and design are decent quality, overall happy with the purchase. Definitely not the best grill on the market but a good value for the money.
