I've done 4 full rounds of Roma, Cherokee purples and beefsteak yellows, all came out perfect.

Answer: I don't think it's glass - the epoxy that holds the glass to the door frame gave out like a week after I pulled this thing out of teh box and the "glass" panel crashed to the floor but did not shatter or crack which is why I think it's probably not glass. I have it tapped onto the door with guerilla tape and it works fine. When I contacted the company about the panel they seemed to know that it was a problem and offered to replace but I have kept it and overall it works fine for my purposes.

Nanette : Works well but uses only preset temps
Does the job of dehydrating, however the information states "temperature controls between 95° F and 167° F," which is not what you might think. The dehydrator comes with preset temps (every 9 degrees), so you can choose, for example, 113 degrees or 122 degrees, but not 115-118 degrees, which many recipes call for. If you're fine tweaking recipes/times by using different temps, this probably won't be an issue for you. However, if you're looking for maximum control, this probably isn't the unit for you. The preset temp information should be clearly stated in the information.

I am very happy with this dehydrator. It is large, so it takes up a lot of space on the counter. I have it on a rolling cart that I roll out when I use it. It has a wide temperature range that's handy for a wide variety of foods. The controls are easy to understand and use, just a few buttons and a digital display. The heat and air are distributed fairly well inside the compartment. I regularly check the food on the 10 shelves to see if I need to rotate them and they seem to dry at a fairly consistent rate on all the shelves. I had a problem with my unit a few months after I purchased it. I contacted ChefWave through their website and got a response the next day. Devorah contacted me and asked if I could send a few photos of the issue. I sent them in and was told the next day that they would send a replacement unit out immediately. I appreciate great customer service almost as much as great products, so this meant a lot to me. I have a tough time going back to a company that doesn't stand behind their products no matter how good their reputation is. I highly recommend this product.

Great dehydrator with perfect, even heating. No need to rotate trays because the heating element is in the back. I own two other dehydrators, both with the heating element at the bottom; which means I have to rotate trays so they get an even amount of heat. No need for that with this machine. Racks are easy to clean and move around. The digital control panel is easy to use. The dehydrator looks nice and not cheap but it is bulky. Definitely not a small appliance. It does exert some heat. I had to move stuff on the counter top away while making jerky because anything near it got warmed. Overall, I’m happy with with purchase and would highly recommend it.

I got this same unit from overstock, really liked it at first but after a couple weeks the glass front door started separating and coming off. Debating just fixing it myself or sending it back and getting a different dehydrator.

If I could rate this product with an alphabetical scale, I'd give it a B-. It's plenty good as a food dehydrator. However, be warned, as a consumer-grade product this is yet another run-of-the-mill half baked product of Chinese origin. The one review mentioning how it can't be turned off by pressing the "off" button is true. The display reads in bright "0000". To really turn it off, you have to cut off the power by unplugging or turn off the power strip it is plugged into (my solution to this incomplete design). Seriously, would it bankrupt the manufacturer to add a simple rocker switch? or a push button toggle connected to a relay? Missing final touches like this ruin an otherwise good user experience. Also, in light of this, the misleading "on/off" button should be relabeled "start/stop". Perhaps that was the intention all along but they got the translation incorrectly; get it fixed!
Couple of take-aways/tips after first use:
-Stainless doesn't mean non-stick. You'll want to coat the stainless screens with some oil so your food doesn't stick
- Line the drip tray with foil or wax paper, even though manufacturer claims easy clean up... doing so will make the task even easier and faster.

I have had two of these dehydrators. The first one, the clear window on the door fell out after just a couple of uses and it would only heat to about 160F. I returned it to Amazon and they send me another one, It too only heats to about 160F. Don't know about the clear door panel yet
