Answer: Not really, it works fine in saltwater. May want to replace the hooks with a saltwater hooks and make sure to rinse the bait well with fresh water after fishing.

Answer: All black with a light shot of orange at the nose/ mouth area. Catches a lot of fish !

I'm a bigger fan of river2sea for consistency myself. Hooks are a little thin, which if snagged, would be easier to pull-out.. the extra rattle is nice for twitch and pause. The plop is hit n miss. Prop needs to be more flexible to be able to bend it around to adjust pop. Weighted pretty good but could be heavier.

Of the three commonly available 'plopping' topwaters, I like the Choppos the best. They do have a louder sound, but the real benefit is that they tend to run upright so much better than the Whopper Ploppers. They don't roll anywhere near as badly either. The advantage is most noticeable in the 90-size, where the Whopper Ploppers misbehave, roll and twist line. The Choppos will occasionally dip under when they catch a weed, but tend to pop right back to the surface, upright and ready to plop. The bluegill color and black matte slay bass for certain.

I was looking for a whopper plopped and this one is probably one of the best out there. Action, styles, durability, all outstanding. I tried it out on my lake but the fishing is lousy right now with the drought. Will update when there are better fishing conditions

Love these baits in the spring have caught two of my largest bass in my life on these Bates a 6 lb 4 oz and a 7 lb 2 oz it's been a heck of a bait. good multi-species bait to.

pb : Meh ....it worked until it found weeds

Not great for casting near weeds. The spinning mechanism gets clogged then no spin. Also it seems to just spin as Is...not the tail ,but the body... not sure that's how it is supposed to work. Even after I made some mods...still crap. It's made out to be some wonder lure. It's not. I'd got bassmaster weedless bass stopper worms. Bigger is better. THAT is a awesome lure that has caught me fish repeatedly year after year.

Bought both the Whopper and the Choppo to compare them. All in all the Whopper may have more durable compnents but I highly highly doubt any of that is a concern for normal day to day. Both caught equal amounts of fish.

Size I wanted. Get the 90 size. 120 was pretty big. Very strong tail, not like some cheap brands. Very much What I wanted. But arrived a day later than first 2 whopper ploppers, even know they the same brand. Just different size. Came earlier than the original set date tho, so I can't really complain.

I've bought this a few weeks ago, and it is a dynamite. Good quality, product came as expected, and I have already caught some largemouth basses with it. I don't have the product that is sold by the competitor (appears to be a top one as well), but had bought some cheaper ones before, and that was a waste of money. This is a keeper! I cannot advise anybody or predict if it will work for you, but I will say this: I have fun fishing with it, and have bought a black version today. I am satisfied and that is why I gave 5 stars. I am not a professional bass fisherman, so take it with a grain of salt.

MF Shad is my favorite color as I have caught the most bass on it and I prefer the 120 over the 90 as the pitch is not as high on the 120.
I own both 90's and 120's and have most colors but the 120 MF Shad is my go to bait.
I do change out the hooks for Mustad UltraPoint KVD Elite Series Triple Grip Treble Hook with 1 Extra Strong/Standard Length Hook (Amazon ASIN# B007FBX784) as I feel the curved hook holds better than the straight Berkley Fusion 19 that comes w it.

Excellent action, very sharp hooks. Fish don't seem to care that this is not the name-brand item. They hit it just as hard.

Compared to the Wopper Plopper it seems to be a little cheaper made but it's a third of the price cheaper. The hooks don't seem as nice as the Wopper Plopper either. With that said it works and will catch fish.

Bought one of these to complement my extensive set of Whopper Ploppers. The Choppo looks good, casts very well, runs true, generates adequate turbulence/noise behind itself on retrieve, and holds striking fish well. Bottom line: so far it works just fine. I recommend this product.

My 13 year old spent his own money for this because he read every single review about it versus whopper plopper. On its very first use, after about 3 casts the thing separated right at its joint and back half fell off in the water. So weird, as that has never happened before with any lures and believe me we use A LOT here with 3 avid fisherman in our house. So, I don't know how to review this really . This one, was junk
