Questions about FoodSaver 1-Gallon Vacuum Zipper Bags, 12 Count, Multi & 1-Quart Precut Vacuum Seal Bags with BPA-Free Multilayer Construction for Food Preservation, 20 Count
Q:
Can the bags be re-used? The product info says "no", but of course they would want you to buy more bags.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Yes, but it depends on the previous contents of the bag. Bags that previously contained fruits, vegetables, breads and dry goods can be washed and reused. Bags that contained raw meats, fish, eggs or un-pasteurized cheese should be discarded after use because they may contain invisible bacteria that will remain after washing. Bags that contained greasy or oily foods should also be discarded, as they may be difficult to clean. FoodSaver® Bags can be washed by hand. Dry completely. They can then be re-vacuumed.
Answer: I use the bags for meat, so I don't reuse.
Answer: I believe that you can. You just need to wash them thoroughly. I would never reuse one that I had meat products in. Vegetable would be fine.
Answer: The problem with reusing these bags is that you cut them to open them and then you lose the length of the bag and it will get too short to reuse. I bought these not realizing that they were not zip close bags which was what I was looking for to use.
Q:
What is the thickness of these bags?
Answer: These bags are 4 mils thick.
Answer: thick enough to protect food and will not puncture easily. But I don't know the exact thickness of the bag.
Answer: These bags are two to three times thicker then regular bags.
Answer: Hi, I have used these bags for many years, and just checked the boxes to see if that information in on the box. No luck! You will have to contact the manufacturer for this information. If your using them for vacuum packing food, I can attest that they are the best product out there! Hope this helps.
Answer: Thanks.
Q:
I need to use for my sous vide when i need a higher temp (>165) or for longer times. do these work for that?
Answer: Our FoodSaver heat-seal bags and rolls are recommended for normal sous vide cooking method with a temperature range of up to 185 F degrees, when sealed with FoodSaver brand vacuum sealing system. Thank you!
Answer: I use the bags for my food saver. I don't know the answer to your question. Sorry
Q:
can you use these to store dry goods long term
Answer: Yes! FoodSaver bags are perfect for long-term storage. Thanks!
Answer: absolutely, it will keep up to 1 1/2 years.
Answer: yes, it sucks all the air out of them.
Q:
Where are these made?
Answer: A BPA free thermoplastic. The company probably uses a proprietary formula, it works way better than any of their competitors For more information, contact FoodSaver corporate customer service.
Answer: Some kind of plastic that doesn't allow freezer burn!
Answer: Distributed out of Boca Raton. Made in China.
Answer: It says on the box "made in the USA".
Answer: China
Q:
Are these BPA free?
Answer: They sure are! All of our current bagging material is BPA free.
Answer: The package says they are
Q:
My vaccum sealer has a tube for canisters..will it work with the zippered bags?
Answer: No. The zippered bags requires the hand handheld vaccum sealer.
Answer: Yes!!! These bags will work if you have adapter (an oval shaped thing that attaches to the hose). They used to pack them with bags. I don’t know if they do anymore.
Q:
How many 28 gallon sized bags come in a package? I have several large trophies I need to preserve in the freezer and need to know how many to order.
Answer: Why ask this question when the box says that there are 28 gallon size bags. I have no idea how many trophies that you have and if you can't figure out how many you have maybe go back to school and start out basic math like I did. Really this is a stupid question to ask.
Answer: Each box contains 28 - one gallon bags.
Answer: They're are 28 1 gallon bags per box.
Answer: 28
Q:
Has anyone had success with long term storage (months) where these did not lose the seal? lots of complaints...
Answer: I have had pretty good luck with them. but they do lose there seal once in a while. I went to the other kind that you have to seal that does not have the tabs. They work a whole lot better. Seem like the smaller work better.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Nope - use a food saver for anything I need to store long term
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: No, these aren't for longterm storage. Use regular Foodsaver bags for that. These are things you want to keep in the fridge for a few extra weeks.
Answer: I have only been able to reuse them 3 (maybe 4) times)
Answer: I use these all the time can’t say I ever had a leak.
Q:
When will these be available for purchase again?
Answer: I suggest you contact FoodSaver direct.
Q:
Can these be used with the reynolds handivac that's been discontinued some years ago? i still have mine. thanks in advance if anyone knows.
Answer: Yes I've been using my handicap for months with foodsaver bags. They work great.
Answer: Not sure what type of sealer you own. But these bags you seal by hand first like a zip lock first. Then there is a hole you put your attachment over and take out the air. So if you have this attachment on your machine this will work. They will also work if you have a hand pump also. Wish I could be of better help.
Answer: I believe it will. I check d out the handi vac and it seems to work on the same principle.
Q:
Why has the price doubled? I have been buying these for a couple of years, can’t now. To bad they are very good!
Answer: This question showed up asking fo an answer but no information on the product so I can not answer.
Q:
Can these bags be put the freezer
Answer: These FoodSaver zipper bags are not recommended for the usage in the freezer.
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Yes. I have several in the freezer now.
Answer: I don't know if they are supposed to be put in the freezer but I put mine in and wash and reuse them and freeze again, no leaking and no freezer burn- no problem. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes I put mine in the freezer and they stop freezer burn for several months
Answer: yes they can and they don't lose air
Answer: Yes, we do it all the time with good results and no problems.
Answer: Yes
Answer: Most definitely.
Q:
How durable are these to wash and re-use? Can they be used as a ziplock bag without using a vacuum? Need to store fruits in freezer for smoothies.
Answer: I reuse them all the time. I usually put the food in an open regular ziplock bag first (it lets the air out just fine). Sometimes several small bags in the vacuum bag. That lets me portion control and all I have to do is seal the inner to thaw and reseal and revacuum the outer bag.
Answer: I wash and reuse bags that have had non-meat, non-greasy, non-tomato food in them. As to your second question, why would you do that? Their purpose is to remove air, thus protecting the contents from drying out, freezer burn, etc.
Answer: As Elizabeth asked, why pay the considerable extra expense for these if not using the vacuum feature? Regular freezer grade Zip-Lock or Glad bags at your local grocer (or on Amazon) cost less than these with the special vacuum port.
Answer: They can absolutely be used for ziplock storage without using a vacuum. I haven't been using these for very long, but I have some bags that I have washed and reused maybe 4 times, and haven't noticed any wear or tear yet. Maybe someone else who has used them longer can give you a better idea.
Answer: I LOVE them..but have never reused them...maybe you can tho...I use the hand held pump to seal them and it works great.
Q:
Will these bag work with a foodsaver machine?
Answer: Yes, FoodSaver 12 Gallon-sized vacuum zipper bags for use with a FreshSaver vacuum sealing system.
Q:
Can I use this for saving soups
Answer: You sure can! We recommend freezing the soup solid prior to vacuum sealing, however, to avoid any liquid being pulled into the FoodSaver itself.
Answer: I have actually done this but requires 2 steps. First I use a 1 gallon zip bag, fill up taking care to let some air out....then I freeze but lay it on a flat cutting board... when frozen...I just cut off the ziplock bag and then use the food saver gallon bag to vacuum seal.
Answer: I cannot help you with this question as I have never tried to do it. Good luck.
Q:
Can you place bags in boiling water with frozen foods inaide of bags?
Answer: FoodSaver vacuum zipper bags are best for short term storage and preserving foods in the refrigerator or pantry. Putting these bags in boiling water may compromise the seal and the food inside. For best results with the sous vide cooking method, we would recommend our regular heat-seal bags and rolls. You can put these heat-seal bags in hot water with a temperature range of up to 185° F, when vacuum-sealed with a FoodSaver vacuum sealing system.
Q:
Can these be used in sous vide cooking?
Answer: The manufacturers website FAQ says that they may be used for simmering but not boiling. Up tp 212 degrees is OK. We do our steaks at 140 degrees.
Answer: I bought them for Sous Vide and they work fine. They also work with my Reynolds vacuum pump.
Answer: No, This is a vacuum seal bag to keep food fresh.
Answer: Yes, that's the sole reason I bought the bags for; they are great for that purpose.
Q:
Do these work with the Reynolds Handi-Vac Sealer?
Answer: Hello, yes they work very good,iv:e been using food saver 12 gal for 8 mo now and put food in and out all the time, its very easy to seal the bag back up after use,and the hand held vacumm sealer works very good too.im very satisfied with the Reynolds products with a good selection of vacumm baggie sizes.
Answer: We only recommend using our FoodSaver, FreshSaver, handheld sealers with the FreshSaver bags.
Answer: Might
Q:
Is the sealer sold separately? How does the portable sealer compare with the countertop models?
Answer: These are just the bags (the sealer is sold separately). You can do a lot more with the countertop models, but the portable sealer will work fine with these bags.
Answer: Yes, the Handheld sealer is sold separately. The difference between the two is simple, The handheld sealer is more compact and only able to vacuum seal our FoodSaver Vacuum Zipper Bags and deli Containers. As appose to the appliance, you're able to vacuum seal rolls, pre-cut bags, as well as zipper bags.
Answer: Yes, it is a new model and works with the plastic containers as well as the bags. I have never tried the wide countertop model, so can’t give a comparison, but we’re very happy with new upright model.
Answer: Sorry but I know nothing about the portable sealer
Answer: I'm sorry but I only have the counter top model so I am unable to address either question.
Answer: Seller delivered on time. Product works as promised. These guys rock
Q:
Can you reheat food in this?
Answer: I've defrosted food packaged in FoodSaver bags both in the microwave oven and in a water-filled saucepan on the stovetop. Once the frozen food (usually a stew or another potted meat dish) has defrosted, I remove the food from the bag and finish reheating the food on the stovetop: it seems to taste better when done that way.
Answer: Yes! Make sure you cut the corners to vent the bag.
Answer: Yes you can
Q:
Do these bags work with the hand held silver crest vacuum sealer from lidl grocery chain?
Answer: I'm not familiar with that particular brand of pump, but I have a hand held pump made by ziplock that works on these bags.
Answer: Can't answer that. I use the blue and white hand pump from Zip Lock bags.
Answer: Sorry, I am not familiar with your vacuum sealer brand, so I can't help.
Answer: Do not know, but FoodSaver has a handheld.
Answer: Yes, it does
Q:
Can these bags be used to marinate meat?
Answer: The FoodSaver zipper bags are ideal for frequently accessed foods such as cheeses, deli meats, baked good, snacks and more. For bests results marinaring meats we recommend using the FoodSaver Quick Marinator. Thank you!
Answer: probably, but why use a vacuum bag to marinate, juices would be sucked into vacuum. Just use a regular baggie.
Answer: yes just seal the meat and marinate and marinate in the refrig
Answer: yes....I put a paper towel inside the bag ''folded up small'' to cover the vacuum hole to prevent liquid from getting out..
Answer: As they are used to prevent air from entering, I would presume they would be effective holding liquids without leaking. If you mean to fill with a liquid and then extract the air, I would suggest you refrain from doing that as the extracting tool cannot distinguish between air or liquids and will become filled with the liquid.
Answer: I dont see why not. Just put it in & seal. You can take most of all or air out & let it sit. They dont leak. Good luck
Answer: Yes.
Q:
I need the quart bags for hand held saver
Answer: There are quart bags. Search. Look. Buy.
Q:
Will these bags with the model fm1510? the description doesn't list the food saver models they work with.
Answer: If your model has the hand held vacuum attachment, it should work. I have the model shown on the bag & love it. Also have a larger sealer but it is not as quick.
Answer: I'm not sure which model that is, but I bought these to use with mine that needs the circle & zipper seal. Mine does not heat seal, it only sucks the air out. These will work for those. It shows unit on the package if you zoom in.
Answer: These bags only work with the individual hand-held model
Q:
Can these bags be closed like ziplocks? I want to use them to cook in "boil in bag" but everything on the internet says ziplocks will melt.
Answer: These bags are heat seal bags. They can be "soft simmered" in water up to 195 degrees Fahrenheit.
Answer: No, they have no closures like ziploc. It is sealed on one side only. The other side is completely open.
Answer: no it is vacuum sealed then heated shut so no air can get in,..
Answer: I'm not sure about that, I have used them to defrost though!
Q:
Can you use this sealing system with jars and how would you use it?
Answer: Hello Nicklaw, this is Gosia from FoodSaver Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver 1-Gallon Vacuum Zipper Bags. We do not recommend to seal jars using zipper bags. We do have in our offer a Jar Sealer, that works with any FoodSaver vacuum sealing system (machine not included). Please see links below.
Answer: I’ve never tried that. I’m not sure if a jar would fit into the bag. I don't think that this bag really is made for a jar and ensure The the contents is sealed. This is just a bag not a sealing system. Good luck!
Answer: These systems are specially designed to lock in oxygen and moisture to maximize air removal. But I can't assure you that this size can be used with Jars
Answer: Jars, for like canning? No.
Answer: They are not made for that purpose.
Q:
Do the bags get old
Answer: I’ve ordered these bags several times, and they have never let me down!!!
Answer: I have some that are about 5 years old that work fine.
Answer: Haven't had any issues with these bags.
Answer: no
Answer: Not that I am aware of
Answer: No not at all and if you want you can wash and reuse
Answer: I go through them fairly quickly so I am not sure. I've never had any issues.
Q:
Do these bags work with the Ziplock hand vacuum pump?
Answer: Yes, these bags do work with the Ziploc hand pump. I bought the quart and gallon size bags and tried with both. I like my Foodsaver electric pump though, but plan to keep my Ziplock hand pump for back up.
Answer: These bags are designed, and have been tested for use, exclusively with FoodSaver FreshSaver Handheld and full-size FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing Systems. For compatibility with another brand sealer, we would advise contacting the manufacturer of your sealer.
Answer: They should since they have that small circle that you would lay the vacuum atop.
Answer: I don't see why they wouldn't. It might take a bit longer but if you don't have the regular super saver unit this is a quick much less expensive way to save items.
Q:
Foodsavers 1.5 gallon bags? i bought the 1 gallon bags, but the opening isn't big enough for my items. what is the next size bigger? thanks.
Answer: You need a different food saver machine. The one where yo make your owner bags to fit your needs. Or you might cut down the size of what ever you want to save and use several bags to get the job done.
Q:
Do they make freezer bags and if yes can I freeze liquid like marinades and soup?
Answer: Unsure if there are "freezer" bags, you can google that and see...however...I recommend freezing the liquid 1st, then putting into vacuum sealer bags. This allows you to get a solid seal on your bag. **tip-when you seal the "bottom" of the "cut yourself bags" Add a 2nd seal..so you have a double seal on the bottoms of your bags! I hope this helps! ~ Kitten
Q:
Can you use these to cook sous vide without vacuum sealing them? I don't have a vacuum sealer.
Answer: Yes! FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer bags and rolls are recommended for normal sous vide cooking method with a temperature range of up to 185 F degrees, when sealed with FoodSaver brand Vacuum Sealing Appliance.
Answer: FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer bags and rolls are recommended for normal sous vide cooking method with a temperature range of up to 185 F degrees, when sealed with FoodSaver brand Vacuum Sealing Appliance.
Answer: You can not use these bags for cooking, only for storing food from a food vacuum sealer.
Answer: You can not seal them without the heat strip of the vacuum sealer. Hope that helps!
Answer: Yes, water displacement will force the air out. Just use a binder clip to clip the top of the bag to the side of the container out of the water so water doesn’t enter the bag.
Q:
Will these work on model #FM1100?
Answer: It should - it definitely works with handheld vacuum sealer ‑ FS1110
Answer: what does the fm1100 look like? Mine is a small hand held machine--- the bags have a circle on the bag where you place the machine, turn it on and it sucks out the air.
Answer: For use with FoodSaver® Vacuum Sealing Systems (with adapter - sold separately), FoodSaver® FreshSaver® Handheld Vacuum Sealer and the new FoodSaver® 4400 and 4800 Series Vacuum Sealing Systems.
Answer: Theses bags only work with the little handheld vacuum if that is the model number.
Q:
Can you use these for sous vide cooking without vacuum sealing them? I don't have a vacuum sealer.
Answer: The zipper bags can work with a FoodSaver vacuum sealer or a Handheld FreshSaver system, and can not be used for sous vide cooking.
Answer: Yes, you can. You can squeeze most of the air out of the bag, then insert a straw into a small opening on the top. Suck the air out and zip it shut. Another way is to squeeze most of the air out, submerge the bag in your sous vide container, and the water pressure will squeeze out the remaining air. Sous vide has become my go to for carefree cooking. An investment in a Foodsaver is one of the best kitchen appliances you can buy. I bulk cook and use mine almost every day. And, I love these new bags. You can reuse them over an over.
Answer: You maybe able if you were not to put it in the water past the vacuum seal part. You may be better odd with a double seal Zip lock bag. You can get a hand pump for small needs. I have a hand pump I would give you if you like. LMK Hope this helped
Answer: FoodSaver zipper bags are designed for refrigerator items, such as deli meats and cheeses, that you access everyday.
Answer: I don't know. I only use the for food storage. You should contact the manufacturer.
Q:
Will these work for extra FAT items such as a soup frozen in a ziplock gallon bag?
Answer: I am thinking you mean large items, not items containing fat. I find that the meat we use in the bags seals better with at least 2 to 3 inches of plastic around all sides of the meat. When we used smaller bags that seemed to fit ok with an inch or so around the meat, the seal often broke in the freezer.
Answer: Depends on how much soup? Doesn’t have a lot of width.
Q:
Why or why not should I buy these instead if the gallon bags that see with the vacuum suction adapter wand. On my foodsaver machine?
Answer: I have tried other one gallon bags with my Food saver machine and wouldn't seal properly , I never have a problem with there bags.
Q:
what are the dimensions of this bag?
Answer: These gallon sized zipper bags are approximately 11" x 16". Thanks!
Q:
Can the sealed bag be immersed in boiling water to reheat leftovers?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: You can simmer in them. From the FoodSaver Site:
Answer: The nylon layer not only makes the bags stronger, it also creates a complete air, moisture and odor barrier. Unlike other bags, FoodSaver® Bags can be simmered in water or microwaved (so you can reheat leftovers or pre-cooked dinners).
Q:
WIll these work with the full size vacuum sealer unit?
Answer: You can use any full-size FoodSaver vacuum sealer with these zipper bags. If your model has a retractable hand-held sealer, you're already fully prepared. If you have a model that has an accessory hose that does not have the handheld sealer at the end, you will need to use the FoodSaver Vacuum Zipper Bag Adapter in addition to your accessory hose.
Answer: These work with either the hand held sealer, or the hand held attachment on some full size units. They are for more temporary storage....things you want to get into frequently. I use them for coffee beans, cheese, etc.
Answer: No. They only work with the hand held unit. They have the hole in the side and zipper top. They are great for the little unit for cabinet and refrigerated use. They do not work in the freezer.
Q:
These bags after a week maximum had air inside, is that normal?
Answer: I've encountered the same issues...my recommendation is to reseal and remove the air again. Im not sure why some hold air tight and some don't. I do still love option for vac sealed zip locks...so i just check them periodically, and use the standard vac seal bags for items like my Cereal (which works better if you use the standard smaller vac seal bag for the cereal and then put it inside the standard larger bag..then vac seal! Anything that may be "pokey" or with jagged edges works better in a 2 bag system!) Good luck! I hope this helps! ~ Kitten
Answer: No They are not sealing at the zipper properly. Extra care is needed to properly seal the zip top.
Answer: No, I've had no problem. Sometimes I do find it a bit difficult to completely close but it is my fault, not theirs.
Q:
I am confused as many reviewers say that the 75 bag item isn’t good for freezing, but the 28 bag one is and yet the bags I thought are the same??
Answer: Hello, this is Marcin from Foodsaver care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver 1-Gallon Precut Vacuum Seal Bags. Both 75 and 28 FoodSaver® Bags are ideal for the freezer because they will keep all air and moisture out, preventing food from getting freezer burn and becoming dry and tasteless.
Answer: Do you mean the number of bags in the box? I've never heard this. But I must say, once it's vacuum sealed, it freezes very well, no matter what size box it comes out of. That's been my experience.
Answer: I use all sizes for freezing and have never had a problem
Answer: It's always up to the buyer to decide what to choose. You have a freedom of choice. Always.
Q:
Which is the correct roll of vacuum bag for my Food Saver - a V2 2460
Q:
will this bag work with sous vide cooker?
Answer: I’m not familiar with a sous vide cooler. The bags are really thick and sturdy like the bags on the roll, the diffeeence is they have a ziplock and a suction spot to use the attachment with to remove the air.
Answer: I honestly don't know i have not tried it with this cooker, but in the microwave and other pots, it works fine. Hope this helps!
Answer: Yes
Q:
Are these the zipper or heat seal bags
Answer: They are heat seal bags
Answer: If you read the description on the page for the bag you'll see they are heat seal bags.
Answer: Heat Seal.
Answer: Heat seal
Answer: no It doesn’t say zipper.
Q:
If I froze a casserole in an 8x8 pan and then removed it from the pan, would the resulting 8x8x2 block of food fit inside these bags?
Answer: These bags are 11" across, and 14" long. They should be able to accommodate the 8" x 8" x 2" block without any trouble. Happy sealing!
Answer: I think it would. If not you can always get the ones you can cut to fit any size. But I think the gallon one will work. I hope this help.
Answer: yes
Answer: yes
Q:
Can you use the Reynold’s vacuum with these bags?
Answer: I never tried but don't see why not, since the concept is the same throughout.
Q:
Has anyone tried these with a Seal a Meal machine? Do they work?
Answer: Yes, these bags are compatible with a Seal-A-Meal machine.
Q:
Are these compatible with the Packmate Vacu-seal bag system?
Answer: Our FoodSaver bags and rolls are only tested to work with our brand's vacuum sealing appliances. If you need further assistance, we recommend you contact Packmate customer service. Thank you!
Q:
Can these bags be resealed
Answer: Yes. I do it all the time, take one item out and reseal. One thing to note, if you have say pork chops or Brats I recommend you wrap each item in saran wrap and put in bag, if you do not wrap them separately they will stick together when you freeze them.
Answer: Absolutely! The bags are re-sealable for every day use, however, we do not recommend that they be washed and reused because it might compromise the ability to create a proper vacuum.
Answer: You can reseal the bags and they work great. Recognize that because you cut the bag each time you want to take out the material or food inside, the bag gets smaller.
Answer: Yes. I reuse mine for cheese.
Answer: Yes I use them over and over
Answer: Yes
Q:
I have seen quite a lot of complaints about not holding the vacuum, mostly in the freezer. What gives? What is the manufacturer's response?
Answer: I have not had a problem but I rotate my items frequently so they are not left for long periods, probably not more than 3 or 4 months. Also it might not be perfect but it is so much better than foil, double bagging, or the stuff that it comes in from the store.
Answer: As long as you make sure that the zipper is sealed, I haven't had any problems.
Product reviews of FoodSaver 1-Gallon Vacuum Zipper Bags, 12 Count, Multi & 1-Quart Precut Vacuum Seal Bags with BPA-Free Multilayer Construction for Food Preservation, 20 Count
Hendrickson : Watch out. Changing quantity changes product
Watch out if you change quantity. It also changes the product. I wanted zippered. Saw I could change quantity lower, which I did. Then I bought it. Now I have pre-cut that I can’t use and seller wants me to pay postage to send it back.
Vicki : BEST Seal a Meal bags ever!
I absolutely love these bags! I use them for sandwich meats, produce, cheese etc.. Having the ziplock feature allows you to use them over and over unlike the roll of seal bags where you have to cut it to open it. The ease of these insures that you will actually use them thus saving your food items from spoiling before you’ve had the chance to eat them. With just my husband and I at home I was throwing away so much food before I found these. Shipping was super fast too!
John Vargason : They can’t handle dry goods that have any king of edge.
They can’t handle dry goods that have any king of edge. They spring leaks with dried fruits or vegetables that have edges.
Michael L DiGregorio : "Foodsaver"...all you need to know!
The quality of "Food saver" products is just amazing. Everything I've purchased with their name on it has performed better than expected, including these bags.
Kitten : So easy to use!
These bags are so easy to use with the food saver adapter! Here you'll see I'm using the quart size ziplock to keep my banana chocolate chip muffisn tops fresh! No air, means they retain their freshness and won't get stale as fast!

David A. Gonzales : Worth every penny.
Excellent craftsmanship make this a must-have for anyone who smokes and stores Salmon and cheeses. If you're looking for a way to preserve foods in the freezer without the frost layers and stale taste, you need the FoodSaver machine and bags.
Keith Christensen : the plastic "stop" disc needs redesigning
Have never had this issue before, but the plastic disc that seals the vacuum hole on the bad keeps falling off in the freezer and thus allows air to get bacj into the bag. Have resorted to using electrical tape to caove the hole. PLease fix this issue. Otherwise, I love the product and use it almost every day.
Richard Chandler : Not for Printer Filament
I'm sure I'll find a use for these, but I got them thinking I could use them for 3D printer filament, since the standard, store-brand zipper freezer bags I was using leaked air. Unfortunately the zipper on these bags does not open far enough to accept a standard 1 KG spool, at least not easily. Since I normally use rolls instead of pre-made bags with my vacuum sealer, this was a relatively costly alternative.
UnderCover_LPR : I ended up doubling the bags to get a good seal. I know how to close a zip-lock ...
We bought these to use for coffee grounds for our camping trip. In the kitchen before we left I did three bags of grounds and 2 of the 3 would not keep an air tight seal. I then tried 2 more bags and they were the same way. I ended up doubling the bags to get a good seal. I know how to close a zip-lock bag, but these just wouldn't work. I will just make my own bags with the roll from Food Saver.
Angela Haney : Glad I found these
I have used the hand held unit and lately have not been able to find the bags at the local store. The gallon ones hold a whole roast and although I don't use then often, they come in handy when I do find a bargain. WILL be ordering again when I need more!
montressor7 : Useful for a while.
Overall a good buy. They are not a permanent keeper item, but dead useful to keep air from spoiling things. For me, worked great for refrigerating tomatoes and meat, lettuce. Some use for fresh bread, but only help if are going to "moist microwave" the bread to make a sandwich. Good to freeze fresh meat in. Hash browns, french fries, cheddar and swiss cheeses. I have had two go bad on me after multiple uses. Still a good value. Better than food spoilage. Update 10/8/20. Seal went bad on several bags. Original purchase bags (VMSTR Handheld Cordless Food Vacuum Sealer for sous vide cooking and Food Storage

A. Halter : GREAT IDEA TO HAVE FOODSAVER BAGS, BUT
I bought the electric hand held FoodSaver suction unit so I could keep left overs, fruits and vegetables fresher. I really like the idea of FoodSaver bags, but these are very expensive and do not do well if reused more than once. Sadly, the FoodSaver hand held suction unit must remain plugged in to use it spontaneously when needed. It loses its charge quickly and takes hours to power up if not left plugged in. I don't recommend this type of unit, despite the good idea.
K.O. : So far doing well.
I've only had my sealer for a couple of months and so far they have worked fine..
These bags are very convenient if you want to bag items that you might open periodically (snacks, etc) and want to keep fresh. They work pretty good, you just have to make sure you don't have anything under the valve where the handheld unit connects or you won't get good suction.
You DO have to have the handheld accessory (or the stand alone handheld sealer) to use them. These bags have held up so far and kept food fresh without allowing air back in.
I also wash the ones that have NOT held meat and reuse them.
Good product, good price.
John Popp : Yes & No
They're as handy as a pocket in a shirt, but quality control is marginal. Am constantly finding failure at first use or after a couple of cycles. The company's customer service is absolutely lousy, so that issue resolution is impossible..
pohlcat01 : Love these bags
Love these bags!! I use them for lots of things. Excelent for breaking up big meat packs when they are on sale. I throw in some marinade, and seal. use some right away, freeze the rest and they are ready when they are thawed. Much better than a regular zip bag, thicker.
We also slice and freeze fruit and other goodies for smoothies. They reseal very well over and over and over. Just freeze your fruit spread out on a cookie sheet first so they are hard and when sealed they won't stick together. Blocks of cheese also last forever when sealed tight after each use. I keep several blocks in their own bag and place them in this bag to seal.
weedz : I thought the "Food Saver" brand would have offered a better product. Disappointed
wish someone would produce a bag that wouldn't leak and could be reused many times. I think there is planned failure here so that you need to keep repurchasing new bags. Have purchased four packages of bags and half of the bags slowly leak in the initial use. A few are successful and even a few can make it a second time. Valves tend to eventually fall off. I thought the "Food Saver" brand would have offered a better product. Disappointed !
DGP : Prolongs freshness
I have been using these bags and the quart size for several years. Really does prolong the freshness of vegetable products and protect from freezer burn if used to freeze items.
Cindy Limone : More than a money saver
I love this product. Due to the economy it's cheaper to buy in bulk but unless you can afford a walk- in freezer
you have to make room in small spaces.Well, these bags came to the rescue. I was able to load up my already
full freezer with 2 packs of turkey burger, an 8 pack of chicken legs, and two 4 packs of chops.
The bags are very durable. The sealing took a little bit longer but I hesitate to blame that on the bags because I have a very
old machine.
I would suggest buying smaller bags if you are not cooking for a big family. It's a shame to cut open a bag if you are only
cooking for 2 people.. The beauty however, is that you can reseal the bag if need be but I did just recently buy smaller bags because of this reason.
These food saver bags are both a money saver and literally a life saver for me because when I open my freezer door now I don't get pelted with an avalanche of frozen ill-fitting items. I can open my freezer without fear.
Hope this helps for anyone who is pondering over their purchase!
JessDee : Food saver bags
These food saver bags are as advertised. I love the pre-cut bags because the bottom is already sealed. I like that they come in various sizes. I have a lot of them so I will not need them for a while.
Jessica : Save Money!
I bought these bags to use with the food saver i have gotten that day, i wont lie to you i was very doubtful of the bags AND the foodsaver. but now i wish i had bought these items sooner. It has saved me lots of money since i buy food items in bulk (they are cheaper that way) and freezing the rest. I haven't needed to go to the meat market for months! I also use it to freeze vegetables, this is perfect! Im so in love with foodsaver products and the money they have saved me.
Sue Doe Nimh : They don't seal
Zero out of the four I tried held a seal for me. Air gets immediately back in the bag after vacuuming. Even standard-issue Ziplocs hold a seal better. I saw some reviews on how to patch leaks so maybe I'll try that but it seems like they ought to come leakless to begin with.
Mary Anne : Great Product worked great with my hand held Zip-lock sealer!
I am so glad I bought these!
Been looking for the Zip-lock vacuum bags and they are no where to be found. These bags work perfectly with the hand held Zip lock sealer
W. WOOD : Great for Freezing Bulk Meat..
FoodSaver bags are great for sealing bulk purchases or meat. The only complaint that we've had, is that it's not easy when sealing bags with fresh raw meat that's not already partially frozen (to the point to where there's no liquid). The juices from raw meat tend to get sucked through the seal while the bags are being vacuumed and result in them not sealing properly. There are two options for rectifying this issue; either partially freeze your meat before vacuum sealing, or fold a white paper towel the same width as the inside of the bag and place it just inside the sealing area with your food. When the liquids are sucked away from the meat during the sealing process, the paper towel absorbs them and allows the bag to properly seal.
Skott : Bags don't re-seal!
I've used 4 of these so far and every one leaked after the 1rst or 2nd vac sealing. Total waste of money.
Update 12/11/2019: This ended worse than it started. Of the 12 bags I purchased 3 of them sealed more than a couple times, 5 sealed twice then failed. The rest were one and done. Very disappointing!!
Michelle A. R. Hydeck : AMAZING BUT.....
I do not want to write a bad review because the bags that did work with my food saver are AMAZING, BUT there were a few bags in both this small size and the larger size I ordered that did not work with the food saver, no matter how many times I tried to vacuum seal! Perhaps they were damaged. I also did not want to return them all because I had used and frozen the ones that did work cuz those are fantastic. I am a big fan of these products and the concept. Would love it if the seller could reach out and work with me for the damaged ones and would be very willing to change this review to 5 stars. Thank you.

rose : Does not stay sealed
These only stay sealed for a few hours. I’ve tried using them in the refrigerator, the freezer and at room temperature. It looks like it’s sealing then after a few hours it’s full of air again. I even tried several bags, thinking that perhaps I’d just received defective ones. Turns out, they are all defective and do not do what they advertise.
Sharon : Great for everyday items
I use these for saltine crackers, sausage patties, and other things that I use a few times a week. It's wonderful for keeping things fresh yet easily accessible. I use these more often than my vacuum sealed because it is for long term storage. I like to have a good supply of these even though I always cover food with plastic wrap before vacuum ing to keep inside of bag clean, the ones I've had to wash take a long drying time.
Tim Post : My go-to bag!
I love these bags. I love how the ridges on one side help evenly displace any juices that come out when you seal meat, and I love how these bags hug the odd contours of fruits and berries we want to keep fresh.
These bags are sturdy, easy to stand up if you need to, and have yet to fail in the freezer or during long cooks with sous vide.
They’re a little more expensive than some others and they’re worth it.
Steve : Good sturdy bags.
Good sturdy bags. I wish the box would close better once opened but otherwise I like them. I always make sure I have some on hand. Found a great prime rib deal at supermarket so I bought two. I made one and froze the other using these bags.
Barbara Davis : Freezer bags
Love these, keeps everything fresh. I make enough food for leftovers and fill the bags and stack and then freeze them.
DGP : Prolongs freshness
I have been using these bags and the quart size for several years. Really does prolong the freshness of vegetable products and protect from freezer burn if used to freeze items.
Carol D. : had to get the hang of it...
these are a little tricky to keep from leaving an air hole in the seal. but you get the hang of it after awhile. Freshly butchered chickens are problematic. i finally broke them in half at the backbone and put them in the sack in two pieces. which is ok, because i would have to do that before putting them in the crockpot anyway, out of 13 chickens, only 2 did not seal properly, and i will use those first. overall, the foodsaver is a great device!! and this is a nice, roomy bag that holds alot. one nice sized chicken per bag!
RICHARD : So far... So good : - )
I must say that, so far, I'm very happy with these FoodSaver Gallon-sized Vacuum Zipper Bags. I got tired of buying fresh veggies only to find out that they had wilted or had gone bad by the time I wanted to use them. I'm staying in a small RV and so my fridge is very small as well.
These FoodSaver Gallon-sized Vacuum Zipper Bags are not only going to save me money by keeping my veggies fresher for longer, but also they are going to make my life easier by making it possible to stow away five pounds of prepped veggies as individual serving sized one pound vacuum packed packages.
I'll be updating this review later to let you know:
1. If the veggies stay fresher longer
2. If the bags remain tightly vacuum sealed over time.
3. How the bags are doing after multiple uses.
April 26th 2015 - So far, it's all good. 5 stars.
May 8th 2015 - The seal is not holding all the air out and so my bags are needing to be re-sealed every couple of days. At least I can re-suck the air out and so these vacuum bags are still better than using regular zip lock baggies. And my veggies are still fresher than they would be otherwise. Due to needing to be regularly re-sealed I'm dropping my rating down from 5 to 4 stars.
As always, stay well, safe and happy : - )
littlehayshaker : Food Saver 1 Gallon
I was trying to get the zippered vacuum pack bags as I've tried everything to get my Food Saver to work since it's only one year old and the only thing I can count on is the handheld vacuum pack sealer you pull out.
Very disappointed in the sealer and these were nothing more than a waste of money! I finally found what I was looking for at Wal-Mart.
Dr. B : Love it, very useful.
Holds a loaf of bread less the ends. I stop the suction before it mis-shapes the bread. The bread stays soft & fresh for quite a long time. I purchased removable labels on which I write the date to keep track which to use first.
Tonya : Doesn't stay sealed.
One use... If you're lucky enough to get them to work. All of the air is sucked out, the minute your release the handheld sealer the air immediately returns to the bag. Yes I checked to make sure the top seal of the bag was sealed also.
Don C : NOT THRILLED WITH PRODUCT
not thrilled with this product, I have had about 4 of these bags leak there vacuum once it was sealed. Not a fan sorry food saver.

I am so glad I bought these!
Been looking for the Zip-lock vacuum bags and they are no where to be found. These bags work perfectly with the hand held Zip lock sealer
Thomas : The bags work
The listing says they can be used in the freezer. The bag says they are not for use in the freezer and I don't know why. I have used them in the freezer and they work just fine
JessDee : Food saver bags

no entry : ~4 to 5 reuses per bag before failure
Food Saver doesn’t sell a hand held vacuum for these bags. They have a counter top appliance you can use but I don’t want any more counter top anything. I did find a good rechargeable hand held vac pump that works very well with these bags and am surprised that a zip top bag vacuums out so completely. I bought these bags expecting multiple uses. This past Friday I bought 20 chicken strips from a fast food joint, wife and I ate a few and put them in the gallon bag. Family was in and out of the bag on Friday and sat. by sat evening there were only 2 strips left and while vacuuming them out I couldn’t get a good seal and inspected the bag, the sealing strip the lifts under vacuum to pull out air is sealed by an adhesive that failed. No heat applied, the bag was kept in the fridge for the 24 hours it lasted. So reusable zip top bags that cost $8 for 12, gets about 3 maybe 4 reliable uses out of them before they fail. There's lots more brands of vacuum zip top vac bags on the market so next time I’m going with another brand. Good thing is they do work, and you can use a nonfood saver branded hand held vac pump in these bags successfully.
Sold by: VMSTR Direct) are still in great condition after several uses. Don't buy these bags. recommend getting VMSTR instead.
Marilyn Patterson : Great. I would recommend that you use an inexpensive ...
Great. I would recommend that you use an inexpensive plastic bag inside this bag so you can re-use. If you are sealing cold cuts you may not want to take all the air out as it will make your cold cut slice adhere to the other slices. Difficult to take slices apart if you take all the air out.
