Answer: I have the 3000 on a 7' with 6 lb line and love it long cast. I'm sure 6'6 would be just fine unless your going very light weight may want to go to 2000 I use 3000 with drop shot or shaky head fishing.

How is this reels anti-reverse? Instant? Any play?

Answer: Anti-reverse works very well. Just a flick of the lever. The drag is very smooth. This reel provides great value for the money. I have the 3000 MambaX attached to an Ugly Stick light action 6'6 rod for trout, bass, and panfish. Just ordered the 4000 and an Ugly Stick medium action 6'6 rod for catfishing at the local river.

Is this reel salt water rated?

I put 10 lb test line on reel, put a lure on , pulled lever over to cast and lever came off, I messed with it for a while, finally took off through away and put my Mitchell 300 on rod, know works great.

Schooled : X3000 Panfish and Bass

Night Cat X3000 ... came in a square box with a nice draw-string stuff sack. The ambidexterious handle has a good size round knob, and a quick-fold feature for storage. The bare spool has a non-slip band for braided line. The drag adjusts smoothly, and quietly clicks when stripping line. The (3) felt drag washers were not lubed, so I added a few drops of oil. The bottom switch activates the instant anti-reverse. I opened the side cover, and re-distributed the gear grease. Besides the main spindle bearing, there is also a ball bearing on the right-side crank. The reel spins smoothly and silently, and bail flips as expected. I filled the spool with 12# mono, and mounted it to a two-piece 6ft-6in medium action 6-12# Shakespear Durango spinning rod. This combo will be a joy catching panfish and bass, and whatever 5# biguns that hit it!
