Kelly Seven : Great gift to myself and family enjoys the dried snacks!

I've been wanting a dehydrator for years and finally decided to get this one due to the nice appearance of stainless steel and black versus the plastic ones and because of the size of the dehydrator. We have a large family so the six trays were perfect for us. I've never dehydrated anything before but was interested in learning how to do it myself because my family enjoys snacking on dried fruits and beef jerky. I like that I don't have to use sugar to dry the fruits and can flavor my own meat.

Our first attempt was to dry mangos without adding sugar and they turned out beautiful and delicious! Not rubbery or too dry. I experimented on how thick or thin I should slice my mangos. It turns out that the thicker slices required more time (15hrs) and the slices that were half the size of the thicker slices only took 10hrs to be ready. We actually let the machine dehydrate the mangos over night and they were ready in the morning.

This dehydrator was easy to use and required little cleaning afterwards. To my surprise, the mangos did not stick to the trays and the trays were easy to handwash. The instructions manual was helpful and easy to follow. There wasn't a funny smell when initially used and the later half of the machine does get hot because of the fan in the back. The dehydrator door and first half of the machine don't get hot though. I also like that there are handles on the sides of the dehydrator, which makes it easy to carry/move it around.

It is pretty heavy but looks and feels durable so far. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and excited to dry pineapples next!
