Half the size as the food saver vacuum sealer. So far, works just as well. We vacuumed sealed some Costco steaks and it worked just as well as the big brand products but at 1/3 of the price. Can't review on longevity of product since only used for a week now. Will update review in a few months on longevity. I'm already confident that this will save more on frost bitten food than the price of the product. So far, I do recommend this.

The Meidong mini vacuum sealer is an excellent choice for people who have small families and who are looking to ensure that food is sealed effectively when fresh or frozen. Since my husband and I are now empty-nesters, the vacuum sealer is the perfect size for the two of us. With the sealer bags, I can freeze 1-1.5 lbs. of ground beef, a package of sausages or two pints of blueberries. I can seal two muffins in a bag and keep them fresh longer because of using the vacuum sealer. This unit is also perfect for sealing partially used blocks of cheese and for storing items like nuts in my pantry to give fresh food a longer shelf life. The vacuum sealer comes with 5 bags. The unit is the perfect size (approximately 10.4 inches wide, 6.5 inches deep and 2.5 inches high) for people who have limited cupboard space in their kitchens. I keep the unit in a kitchen drawer, but could also keep it on the counter because it is not large. The cord wraps around the back of the unit which also helps with reducing the storage space required for the unit. The instruction manual is well written, and has pictures of how to use the vacuum sealer. The sealer only takes 15-30 seconds to seal a bag. I am very much looking forward to using this vacuum sealer this summer for the fruits and vegetables that I traditionally freeze for the winter. I would recommend this product for couples and for small families for both fresh and frozen food. It is a great way to ensure that food doesn’t go to waste. I am very pleased with this purchase!

If you’re like me and don’t like bulky stuff on your countertops then you will love this vacuum sealer. It’s compact, fits right in a drawer which is easier to use then my other bulky one that i never take down because it’s so big. It is quick to vacuum and seal. Definitely a keeper in my kitchen!!! The bags that come with it are a nice size so if you don’t have big items to seal you can cut them in half and seal one end and now you have extra bags. I even tried my other bags from my other sealer and they work so I think you would be able to use anything. Only thing i wish was different on this unit is the cord, needs to be longer, but overall a great vacuum sealer!!!!

I like that this little vacuum sealer is as capable as the bigger ones, but is small enough to store in my limited space kitchen. I tested it out first on a few slices of bread and it sucked the air out so tight that it was reduced to half it's size! So now that I know how it works I cut a huge block of cheese in half and vacuum sealed those for later use and am thrilled with the result.
It can either vacuum seal, or just seal if you have something that is more liquid in nature. Both choices work well. You do have to make sure to push the left side down firmly, if you don't it won't start vacuuming out the air. There is a small white button (dot seen in the picture with the cheese block) on the left hand side that needs to make contact with the lid in order to start the vacuuming process. Once that starts you can let go and it will keep working until it's vacuumed and sealed. The blinking blue light means that it is sealing. If you don't want the suction you can just seal it. The instructions are very clear on how to do this. It comes with 5 or 6 bags to start with.
I find it perfect for making smaller portions of items like a large block of cheese in order to make them last longer for just my husband and I but I think it would work well for anyone who wants a smaller machine that works as well as the larger ones without taking up as much space.

Omg this thing is awesome! I throw away so many leftovers because they don’t last in the fridge long enough before I have a chance or want to eat them again right away. It’s so easy to use and keeps food fresh for so much longer than just putting food in a regular ziplock style bag. It only came with one size bags so I need to order some different sizes. It’s small enough so I can put it out of the way and not clutter my counters. Once I get more bags I’m going to make some things and portion them in the bags so it’s just enough for one meal at a time. I take things out of the freezer that I’ve frozen and there is too much for me to eat at one time, usually leaving some that I have to toss. This way I can put just the right amount in a bag for another meal. Also they prevent freezer burn. I’m always tossing something that I’ve frozen because of the freezer burn that other than that would be perfectly fine to eat. I have grandchildren and it’s perfect for freezing individual snacks for them. I’ve wasted so much food in the past. Not anymore! Love this sealer!

UPDATE: I have used this for just a few times. It worked very well at first, now it won't suck the air from the bag. I followed the troubleshooting instructions in the manual, still not working. So I contacted the company via email, and they haven't responded in more than a week. I do not recommend if you want a machine that lasts for more than a few times.

I just got this yesterday, and had some large packages of meat that I purchased at Costco and needed to make into smaller packages for the freezer. First, I like how small and light this unit is. It's called 'mini', but it works fine for quart and gallon size vacuum freezer bags. I read through the instructions, and found it much simpler than the unit I had previously. Put the bag in, press the top down on both sides and it immediately starts vacuuming. If it starts to suck out more than you want (liquid coming to the top), just press the sealer button with your thumb. The blue light flashes while it's sealing, then viola! It's done! And much quieter than my old one too. I hope it holds up over time, I'm very happy with it at this point.
