Answer: Yes, but be sure to use the vacuum seal type bags/rolls. Other plastics may not seal well, hold up well in the sous vide bath, or may give off noxious or toxic gases while cooking.

Answer: A really handy way to vacuum seal soupy stuff is put it in a low wide container not bigger than sealer bags. Freeze, pop out, put the frozen chunk of frozen liquid into the vacuum bag and seal. No mess, works like a charm! Cheers!

Is it really necessary to smack both ends to close it? I thought it was broken when I first tried to use it.

Answer: I don't know about smacking it but you do have to squeeze hard to get both ends to click closed. If one or both are not fully closed the vacuum won't work to pull air out before sealing.

I used this for the first time today and it worked great. It took little bit to figure out exactly where to put the open end of the bag so it would vac out the air but after that is was so easy to use.

I love this food sealer!! It is one of my best purchases ever! My mother-in-law has a bad habit of putting things in the freezer wrapped in a ziplock bag that can't close because the contents are too large, half wrapped in aluminum foil, or sometimes even in a plastic grocery bag!! I am loving this machine! It works perfectly and I love that i can get different sized bags depending on my needs! Highly recommended!

Wow! This is a powerful, well made vacuum sealer! This machine is easy to use, seal and vacuum really well. I tried to seal on a package of the masks, I only did it once and everything worked out well. I like the fact that it came with big vacuum bags. I haven't explore other functions yet, I only use seal and vacuum, sealing time very fast, even on the coffee filter bag, the paper filter didn't melt. Overall this is a good purchase!

The bag kit that comes with it makes it ready to use, manual is really more like a tip because its really easy to use and will master it after 2 uses, it keeps the food fresh and the suction power makes it also very compact, great addition to the kitchen.

I love everything about this product except... it is difficult to get both sides to snap closed. That aside, it takes most bags (as long as they dont exceed the length. What I have frozen, has retained its vacuum. Food is as fresh as the day I froze it.

This sealer is fine for occasional or temporary use. If you do too much it will stop/overheat, you have to unplug it and wait for it to cool down a little. It does have decent suction but not super powerful. It also does not have a button to seal at any time, once you start the suction process you can't make it seal when you want it to. It does have a seal only button, but it doesn't work during the suction process.
Pros - price, works well enough, compact size
Cons – can overheat, no seal any time button, no fluid tray, no bag cutter
If you shop at warehouses like Costco or Sam’s, are a heavy vacuum sealer user and can afford it, there are better choices. If you need to seal sometimes or looking for a low-cost option, this is a very good choice.
