Ash & Grease Drawer
SmokeFire’s exclusive easy-clean system directs ash and grease down into a removable drawer. Simply use the provided plastic scraper tool to push leftover ask from the cookbox into the drawer. Some pellet grills require manual disassembly and a vacuum for routine maintenance.
Flavorizer Bars
Flavorizer bars were designed for direct, more consistent heat, unlike traditional pellet grills that use a large diffuser plate that blocks the flame.
Large Capacity Hopper
The large capacity hopper holds over an entire 20 pound bag of pellets. It’s the perfect size for all day, low-and-slow smoking.
Weber exclusive porcelain enameled finish withstands the harshest of elements and helps prevent rusting and cracking over time. It also retains heat to keep your grill at a precise temperature throughout the entire cook.
LCD Display
The easy to read, weather resistant LCD display shows Weber Connect step-by-step grilling assistance, as well as time, temp, and controller output.

Questions about Weber 23510201 SmokeFire EX6 (2nd Gen) Wood Fired Pellet Grill, Black
Q:
What are the cooking suface dimensions, both top and bottom?
Answer: Top shelf 10" wide x 35" long, bottom ( main cooking shelf) 17" x 35 long.
Answer: The bottom surface is 18” x 36”/648in2.
Q:
Can somebody explain the differences between this model and the original?
Q:
What is the length of the grill from wheel to wheel?
Answer: Hi! The length of the grill from wheel to wheel is 42 inches.
Q:
You state there is a DC powered engine to prevent auger jams; so, it must be used near an outdoor outlet?
Q:
Is the unit 100-240v?
Answer: Thanks for your question! Our SmokeFire is designed to plug into a standard 120V outlet. Thanks!
Answer: 120 volt
Q:
Is there any way to increase the amount of smoke for those of us who prefer more smoke than a traditional pellet smoker provides?
Answer: This grill has a feature called SmokeBoost, which runs the grill at a lower temperature than would normally be used. This lower temperature produces significantly more smoke. After a period of time, you then raise the temperature to your cook temperature.
Answer: Yes there’s a setting in the app to do that.
Q:
How much wattage is needed for this?
Answer: If by wattage you mean power requirements, mine uses a 110 15 amp circuit.
Answer: Not sure. Used an outdoor outlet on exterior of home.
Q:
What type of manufacturer warranty?
Answer: Go to Weber’s website and all of the warranty information is there. The warranty on the cook box and parts vary from 3-5 years. I will tell you that I have only ever had Weber grilling products and they 1000% stand behind their products. Side note on the smoker it is electric so keep that in mind when using... ie don’t use in the rain or extreme cold.
Q:
How easy is it to remove the pellets if you want to use a different flavor?
Answer: There is a sliding door on the hopper that allows pellets to drop into whatever container you place under the door. There will still be pellets left in the chute and in the auger that you will not be able to remove. These pellets will need to be burned during the first part of the next cook before your new pellets.
Answer: It has a door on bottom of hopper just for this.
Answer: It can get messy if you don’t have a tall bucket or fuel bag. I use the Weber fuel bags, and they work great. You do have to learn to line them up to the chute so the pellets don’t go flying. Some pellets do remain in the auger chute. I can scrape a fair amount out, but you’ll have some left sitting in that chute. I recommend putting an outdoor rug under the grill if you are on a deck. That makes it easy to clean up any dropped pellets and keeps them out of the gaps in the deck.
Answer: Very easy it has a sliding door that you pull and the pellets drop out below
Q:
the + button only shows the qr code for the app... despite software is updated and bbq is linked both bt and wifi, how to solve?
Q:
How much pellets will it hold
Answer: About 19 lbs. It won't hold a full 20lb bag
Answer: Probably around 10#
Q:
Do you have to use Weber brand pellets or are you free to choose another brand?
Answer: I use any high quality pellets.
Answer: Hello, the key to good pellet flow is to use good quality pellets, ideally, Weber Pellets, that don't have dust or are broken down, which can happen if you are storing them outside in humid environments or if the bag is left open for some time. The pellets should have a crisp snap when broken instead of tearing or ripping apart. Thanks!
Answer: So here is the question that rubbed me the wrong way. It is never stated that you have to use Weber pellets but if you have any issue and I mean any issue Weber will say that it is being caused by not using their pellets. I had tons of issues while using traeger pellets then switched to Weber and all the issues remained.
Answer: I have experimented with pellets from various other brands and have had no issues.
Answer: I have used GMG, Weber, and Trager with no problems
Answer: I have used 4-5 different brands without any problems!! Great grill!!!
Q:
What size is the of the bolt on the casters if I want to change them?
Q:
Why does this grill still catch on fire during long smokes?
Answer: Use common sense. This smoker does have the open flavorizer bars, so if you have a high fat cook. just put a foil drip pan under your food. The upside of this system is that you can use this like a regular grill with a 600F sear temperature.
Answer: I am sure that it can if you have a lot of fat being dripped, or if you do not keep the smoker clean. I have never experienced a flare-up, but I always clean the smoker between smokes and I do not cook overly fatty meats.
Answer: Never had a problem, just keep it clean before long cooks.
Q:
What is the delivery box size?
Answer: Gigantic. A semi truck drops it off on a pallet.
Answer: REALLY big! It was probably 3' x 3' x 4'
Answer: About 5ft by 3ft it's pretty big
Q:
When will there be more for sale?
Q:
How would you add wood chips for flavor?
Answer: You really don’t need to, the wood pellets you use provide the flavor. They come in many different woods such as apple, cherry, hickory, pecan, bourbon barrel, etc….
Answer: The Grill uses wood pellets for fuel (vs gas or charcoal). You are cooking with wood each time you grill. You can change the flavor of the smoke by using different pellets. Pellets can be changed by emptying the hopper and refilling. The smoke is amazing. I’ve used weber’s grill master and hickory pellets. Love both of them.

Q:
Does this really get as low as 200 degrees and as high as 600? I'm looking for a customer to answer, because I'm a little suspicious about it.
Answer: Using the SmokeBoost feature, the temperature is actually well below 200 degrees at about 165 or so. I have had even lower temperature than that during some SmokeBoost usages. I smoke at 225 degrees for hours, and the smoker maintains that temperature very well, so a constant 200 degrees is definitely achievable. The highest temperature I have used is 450 degrees when the smoker was being seasoned. It achieved that temperature in about 15 minutes, and held it for 45 minutes without any deviation, so I have no doubt that the smoker is capable of 600 degrees.
Answer: Yes. I’ve used it low and slow and I’ve used it to wood grill. If you’re going to use it for high temperatures grilling be prepared to add extra pellets.
Q:
Are wood pellet grills safe too used in apartments outdoors
Answer: Hi, thanks for your question! We would not recommend using them in apartments. All of our grills, regardless of fuel type, are meant for outdoor use only. If you have any other questions please reach out to our Support Team. Thanks!
Answer: Its up to your landlord ultimately, but the heat only radiates out around 12" from the grill, so you could put it within 12 of a wood wall safely
Answer: Yes, safe to use outdoors only. I would keep grill at least 12 inches from combustible surfaces. Any appliance that supports combustion is deadly if used indoors, for any reason, due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
Answer: As long as you maintain the recommended distances between combustible objects and the grill, it should be fine. An issue to consider is if the smoke that is generated would cause your neighbors to complain.
Q:
Cuanto mide el espacio de adentro de cocinar
Answer: Hola, Son 1,008 pulgadas cuadradas. Saludos!
Q:
Can this grill use charcoal too?
Answer: No. Absolutely not. This is strictly a pellet grill.
Answer: No, can only use wood pellets specified for use with this unit.
Answer: No, wood pellets only
Answer: No, it uses pellets only
Q:
What is the inside diameter?
Answer: Hello! This unit has a dual grilling space. If you have any other questions or we can help with anything else, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Support Team. Thanks and happy grilling!
Q:
What's different about this model from the first model?
Answer: Small improvements on hopper slide and software updates.
Q:
Does this come with the gourmet bbq system grate (with the circle that pops out for accessories)?
Answer: No, just the normal grills.
Q:
What improvements does Gen 2 have over gen 1?
Q:
Box dimensions?
Answer: If you’re asking about the box it’s packed in I don’t remember specifically but it’s delivered by semi truck to my house and left on a pallet. They used a pallet jack to move it from the semi trailer to my garage. It’s large and extremely heavy.
Q:
Anyone know what the black spatula looking tool is used for?
Answer: Hi, thanks for your question! That is called the Grease Scraping Tool. That is used to clean out your cookbox. If you have any other questions please reach out to our Support Team. Thanks and grill on!
Answer: Scraping a cleaning the grill, it's also good for getting the miscellaneous pellets from the cracks when you pour them in the hopper.
Q:
Does it come with any pellets?
Answer: It did not include pellets
Q:
I owned the first generation and it was an absolute disaster, my question is have they finally fix this thing?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I believe they have. I know flare/ups-Fires were one of the bigger issues from the first, I have not experienced that with this, and I have cooked on all temps from 225 to 600.
Answer: The Gen 2 models have updated welded auger chute, new glow plug assembly and pellet hopper incline insert. Comes with up to date firmware and software out of the box as well. Hopefully this helps.
Answer: Yes. I've used a Gen2 extensively and have experienced zero issues. It's never had a flare up, burns the pellets almost completely (99% or better) - I've had to empty the tray once and it wasn't even close to being full (after 3 bags of pellets burned to date). Cooks even - have used probes on meat on different sides and internal temp is always within a couple degrees of each other.
Q:
So what's different about the 2nd Generation Models?
Q:
Does this grill use PID technology?
Answer: Yes, it uses PID technology.
Answer: Weber purchased JuneOS some time back and incorporated their software into the SmokeFire. It’s proven easy to use and well-featured. Consider it “proprietary” to Weber. The app works well. Easy to set up. You can make changes on the grill itself or via the mobile app. Both remain synchronized to each other. I’ve used two probes at once (it comes with two), and there’s capacity for four separate probes, which is just impressive as heck to me. All you need are the actual probes that plug into the controller on the grill.
Answer: Yes it does and so far In my experience has done a great job at holding temperature .
Q:
Hi how does this differ from the 1st gen?
Q:
Can you get a front tray?
Answer: I think so
Q:
What’s delivery time?
Answer: It took 4 days,
Q:
Is this made of 304 stainless steel? Is only part of it, some of it, or none of it?
Answer: Hello, thank you for your question! We use different stainless steel grades and materials throughout the production year, so there could be multiple grades of steel used. Rest assured, if you encounter any issues with this during use, please contact our support team. We are ready to help. Thanks!
Answer: The cart frame and flavorizer bars are stainless steel (not sure if 304) lid, cook box, and distribution plates are porcelain enameled. I would Email Weber support for exact.
Q:
Is this grill made in USA?
Answer: Yes it is!!!!!
Q:
What has changed in 2nd gen? Should I wait for 3rd Gen?
Answer: This thing is amazing!!! Glad i bought and got it before Christmas!!!!!
Q:
Hello, why does this pellett grill not have a chimney? Should it have one. Thanks,Ken
Answer: Newer style, it also has a smoke boost mode!!
Product reviews of Weber 23510201 SmokeFire EX6 (2nd Gen) Wood Fired Pellet Grill, Black
Chefglas : You’ll never buy another grill
Holy s—t this thing is amazing. Before you buy a traeger, do your research and then buy this.
Ned McDowell : Doesn’t Work out of the box
Purchased, setup, went to have initial cook off, and the grill would not work and displayed several error codes. I followed directions but nothing helped. I then called customer service, who advised that the error was a bad fan motor. They said they would overnight me a new one.
Here it is the next day, and the replacement part has not been shipped, no tracking number and it’s still in the warehouse.
First, didn’t someone at the factory test the electronics before it was packaged for sale. Second, don’t promise a solution if you can’t produce one.
As a repeat Weber customer I’m very disappointed
David : So far, mostly good
It's easy to use, fairly easy to clean. The smoked meats have so far been moist. The smoke aroma isn't prominent
Brent Webster : Works Seamless and Easy to Put together as well! Gen 2 got it right!
Works Seamless and Easy to Put together as well! Gen 2 got it right! Also the rear vent design vs chimney stack I believe works better overall.
Lo Wall : Read instructions
Just what he wanted for Father’s Day. Be sure to read instructions carefully or it won’t work as expected.
Amazon Customer : Perfection
I ordered on a month ago and have used it a dozen times. Literally load it at 6 am with the big stuff and got to work. Come home at lunch and load the smaller stuff and dinner is ready at 6. Stays 200 all day long. Mine has never varied up or down. All pellets work as long as they are the same shape. I have used pellets from all 3 name brands. Just did Easter with the parents and nephews and my sons family.10 people and had plenty of left overs. If your pondering the larger size..... Just do it. My dad was so impressed i ordered one for him and it was at his house the day after they traveled back. Called me in tears over it. It's that awesome of a smoker. I've had two weber propane grills that added up to 15yrs between them both and don't know if ill use them again. So easy to cook. Zero flare ups. no checking on your meat. Probes work excellent. And to see them on your phone is priceless as we drank at the fire pit all day and never worried.
G Datus : First Smoker ever used, couldn't be more happy with my results.
Outside of the normal putting things together, i'm not very handy but the install wasn't bad. Overall, I have been really pleased with this Smokefire. I have smoked a variety of meats/veggies, etc with a great deal of satisfaction. The Weber Connect app is fantastic as it walks you step by step for preparation of the smoker(temp/etc), suggested tips for cooking different foods, and constant updates on temp. For somebody who is new to using a smoker all the features take the stress out of wondering if I'm doing things correctly.
Robert N. : Outstanding value with excellent performance.
The 2nd gen Smokefire is terrific. Don’t be misled by reviews of the very flawed 1st gen version. This grill rocks on every level: materials, build quality, performance. Weber had to price it at a discount to get buyers to take the risk it wasn’t a gen 1 with bandaid fixes. Gen 2 is a beast!
Amazon Customer : Great purchase
Replaced a Traeger with this. Pellets do need to be shoved down in hopper sometimes. But night and day with ease of use compared to Traeger.
???? FilipinaShopaholic ???? : Needs some work
This overall made some great steaks but there are flaws. The app was easy to use and has pre-set meat types, thickness sized temperature for the type of finished cook you want. I’ll always be a medium rare steak eater so the probes that come with this grill is great for keeping an eye for the meats doneness. The app lets you know when to flip and take off your meat. After I took my meat off and was still cooking my asparagus, the temperature kept rising so that’s worrisome that it’s not keeping the temperature you set and I do smoke my jerky so I’ll be able to test that out next weekend. I mainly got this for that reason that it’s supposed to control the temperature and I’m not having to sit outside messing with the temperature to control it to 200-225 for smoking my jerky. There were a lot of parts that came damaged, as in, bent pieces. All of the functions still worked though. When I’m done smoking my jerky, I’ll update this review to see how it controlled the smoking temperature.
Chefglas : You’ll never buy another grill
Holy s—t this thing is amazing. Before you buy a traeger, do your research and then buy this.
Rudy Mershon : Great grill"""""""
Nice Weber
Joe Rhodes : Still needs work
What most people have had problems with hold true. It is a great unit, it allows you to make some awesome dishes but the gen 2 still could be better. The updated feed ramp still does not allow the pellets to flow properly, you will need to stir every so often or risk having a flame out. Also, my unit has never reached the full 550 degree mark. Thankfully none of the cooks I've done have required it yet, but still is disheartening for how much you spend on this unit
John : Great Pellet grill/smoker
Could not ask for a better unit. It was my first venture into the world of meat smoking and this grill has been fantastic. Extremely user friendly. If you are not too handy it will take you awhile to set up. Beyond that it is fantastic.
Tony Millsap : Perfect smoker/grill for the beginner or the pro!
I’ve had my Weber SmokeFire EX6 since last fall, and I quickly became a big fan! The assembly appeared a bit daunting when we opened the box, but my teenage son & I were able to assemble it quickly and easily. Once assembled, the initial burn-in went quick & I was ready to smoke! I started off with a couple pork tenderloins, they turned out amazing! Thick smoke ring, fork-tender and so juicy. After that I put it to work cooking our entire Thanksgiving feast: turkey, potatoes, corn & mac n’ cheese. Everything came out awesome! I’ve also done a couple pork butts for a long low smoke session as well as turning the heat up for crispy & juicy chicken wings. Also smoked a ham shank for Christmas that turned out amazing! This smoker/grill has performed beautifully no matter what I have cooked, it is exceeding my expectations at every turn! One thing I noticed right away is the fast start up and quick time to get up to temperature. I live in central Nebraska and it hasn’t exactly been warm out when I’ve used it, and it has kept it’s temp very steady. And after opening the lid to spritz, turn, etc., time back up to temp is quick as well. I also really like the availability of having 4 temp probes right in the Weber Connect on the grill. I have used a Weber iGrill for a few years and having that built right into the grill is great. Another feature I really like is the availability to shut the grill down through the app, I’ve used that pretty much every time because I’ve forgotten to when I’m taking the food off! Being a backyard pitmaster, and owner of a small BBQ catering business, I have been a customer of other brands of pellet smoker/grills for over 15 years. When Weber announced the initial release of the SmokeFire, I really took interest knowing Weber’s long history of quality products. I’m not one to buy things quickly, especially in this price range, without research, and I did a lot on the SmokeFire. After seeing the release the Gen 2 version, I was ready to see what it was all about. And so far, I have been very impressed with the looks, construction, ease of use and most importantly, quality of smoked & grilled meats & foods that have come off my EX6. I would definitely recommend this smoker/grill to anyone, first-time user to seasoned pro!
Oriana : Amazed o far
So far we've done abrisket, turkey legs and beef ribs.Wverything we made l turned out great :o)
Andre Lavoie : Dumpster grease fire waiting to happen
First off the grill was damaged dented during shipping its almost 200lbs.
This grill has been nothing but problems since assembly to use, items not fitting properly when being put together, defects, poor quality control.
First 40min break in the grill was okay, first time trying to grill steaks the grill got so hot it warped and the heat spreaders fell apart on the inside and knocked the hot box out of place then the grill also caught on fire, the 30 minute shut down process where it burns even hotter to rid it of excess pellet made it worse....
Okay thats fine things happen second grill session we used it as a smoker once it was reassembled again, grilled started to smoke excessive it turned out one of the coils had already burned out and the grill was smoldering, okay no big deal replaced coil cleaned out the pellet shoot fired back up, smoked a brisket and various foods for 15 hours no issues GREAT problems solved wrong....
Third grill session grill almost caught fire again from grease this time from one smoke session, you'll be aggressively cleaning this grill after every use to prevent a grease fire.
Fourth use another smoke session fired up in the morning all was well 240f it was cranking out clean heat, placed all of my meat on the smoker 45 min later I get a temp low warning, the grill has gone cold and has been dumping pellets into the feed with no fire for 30 min filling the bottom half of the grill..... OKAY after cleaning the bottom of the grill out of grease and pellets ANOTHER COIL WAS BAD REPLACED, clean empty shoot I turn the grill on with a fresh coil 20 minutes later I'm smoking out the block the pellets were not igniting fully from the new coil, I proceed to shut off the grill to inspect and it erupts in flames due to the fan kicking on for shut down all of my meat at this point is soaked in smoke and now burning due to flames kicking up....
This grill has not only caused tons of headaches and problems but now has ruined hundreds in dollars in food and a weekend.... weber needs to work on this grill A LOT your customers should not product testers for your unfinished products.

BigJeepin : Outstanding smoker/grill
Buy this smoker a+++++
Mario E. Morales : Horrible Customer Service, After a year, bowing out!
Literally, LITERALLY!! The worst overall experience I have ever had with a reputable company, let alone a local Chicagoland company. What is more consistent than Weber Grills #Smokefire #SmokeFireSmoker working correctly, at least my experience, their failure to consistently respond to emails, consistently respond to phone calls, consistent provide solutions to repair a smoker that couldn’t even make it a year without issues. A first class company sent an experienced repair man to work on a smoker he has never even seen before. He even went out of his way to tell us he wouldn’t even buy one of these. Then I had to help him fix my smoker. But y’all know it didn’t work. So I have a $1500 hunk of metal junk that has sat on my bag porch during birthday parties, Memorial Day, family dinners, cookouts and it is starting to look like July 4th! I am utterly disgusted by just how crappy this smoker has turned out for us and just how crappy the experience has been. We went out of our way to gamble on a reputable company who jumped into an unfamiliar world for them, pellet smoker grilling, and what do we have to show for it???? A Frankenstein piece of junk, you see like they keep sending me parts and saying try this and try this, that doesn’t work.
Well, I’ve had it. I’m looking towards Traeger Grills NOW!
P.S. This is more of a vent on my end because Weber will neither listen or help by providing solutions. I’m sure many of you are enjoying your smokefire grills without any issues. But we are a family of 4, going on 5 children, with a stay at home wife, who cooks from scratch and literally uses this smoker 2 to 3 times a week for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We do not have any more time or energy to put into this situation. Frustration has literally driven us to say something like this publicly. It’s so sad because we really were rooting for a local (Chicagoland) business like Weber to knock one out of the ball park with the Smokefires and here we are at a huge loss. Bowing out of this fight.
Shane Stewart : Won't start ofter 4 uses, can't get Weber to help
After using my Smokefire EX6 GEN2 four times, it now won't start up. The fan doesn't turn on, the auger doesn't turn, the ignitor never heats, and the internal temp probe shows ----. I have opened a ticket with Weber, but they never followup and when I call back, they have no updates. Buy something else, I have been a lifelong Weber customer, but even my next grill will not be a Weber.
Update: Weber did finally come through for me, but it was overall an incredibly frustrating experience.
Hannes Smit : The 2nd revision rocks!!
After what seemed to be a flawed start I bought this with some trepidation.
I can now say that I have cooked all my favorites and some new things and this dang this is pro-quality. Food is perfectly cooked, tastes amazing!
Upkeep is minimal, regular clean up is simple and not a burden.
Only wish this thing had a muffler, still too noisy for me, but then I am expecting silence - not really reasonable for a pellet grill with a constantly blowing fan.
If you don’t visit in the same place as the grill (as we do) this will probably not be an issue for you.
The software guidance is close to useless, but I mostly do my own thing - especially after missing numerous cues from the nondescript guidance put out by the app.
I can happily recommend this grill.
Judith : Definitely Worth Buying
Easy to use, easy to set ip
ada@ : Not worth the money comparing to Treager.
Iade a big mistake getting this smoker vs Treager, I had total of 8 cooks in it, it constantly jams the pellets, loses the cooking program that you relied on and and I need to be around it constantly to make sure to push the pellets in.
you can compare the product price from Costco, wayfair, bestbuy, lowes, target, homedepot, Walmart, ebay, amazon to find the best price for you
