This seal is awesome! Very easy to install but make sure you completely clean the area you are installing with alcohol. Make sure you know where you want the seal before sitting in place. The adhesive is like concrete, where you place it is where it's staying. The perfect fix for my leaking smoker!! AAA++

We bought a Pit Boss vertical smoker for the 4th. Love it, but it was taking a long time to get to temperature and smoke was leaking out of the sides. Installed the smoker gasket and it gets to temperature almost immediately now and retains the smoke. If you own a smoker you need this product.

As many of you know, smokers typically don't have the best seals on the lid or other openings to prevent smoke leakage. After watching several YouTube videos, it was strongly encouraged to add a smoke gasket to my 22" Weber Kettle. I really didn't think it was that big of a deal, but I was surprised how well the gasket sealed.
The installation was simple. I scraped and cleaned any gunk off where the gasket was supposed to go, and then I simply removed the gasket backing and firmly pressed it down all away around the grill. Then I cut the remainder gasket off to make a perfect fit. 17' of this stuff will be enough to reseal about three or four times for my grill. After I finished, I placed the lid back on to create a constant downward pressure to ensure a tight seal.
The next day, I smoked some chicken quarters. I was very impressed with how the lid sealed. NO smoke leaked out of the sides. Do I actually taste a difference? No. I don't think the small amount of smoke leaking from a kettle grill will have any effect on the taste of the meat. However, I can definitely see how the gasket could improve the taste and timing of a slow cook over time. This gasket is cheap and effective- I definitely recommend it for your next cook.

So first of all it was difficult to get the paper off of the adhesive part so that you can stick it on to the grill and secondly when you do try to peel it off it is so easy to pull it off of the tape that you can ruin it very easily and I've noticed with other brands this does not happen and it's much better made. This replacement gasket is good for smaller grills and smokers but I wouldn't recommend it for a Kamado or Big Green Egg. It's neither wide enough or thick enough.
The adhesives on these types of gaskets has to cure. When you apply it, it won't feel very sticky and you can move the gasket material. But weighted and left for 24 hours, the adhesive will stick to your smoker rim.
There's nothing wrong per se with this gasket but it's not the right one for a Kamado. Replacing gaskets in any case is a good idea as the original ones start to fail after use, the originals are often mediocre, and any high heat cooking can compromise your gasket, too. This is Nomex, a heatproof fiber used in firefighting and race car driver gear. The gaskets on some grills are wool felt; resistant to heat but not as good as Nomex.

At first I had a hard time getting the adhesive backing off to get the process started; but with a single edge razor blade I made an" X" at the end of each piece I started after that and it was a breeze to work with and was perfect for the job..!! VERY HAPPY!!!
