Answer: In my opinion it is not loud. I have it on the porch just outside the door and can not hear it with door closed.

Is the bottom tray supposed supposed to fit base because mine doesn’t

Answer: Not quite sure what you're asking. I will say this much. The very bottom of the dehydrator is not for drying. It is just a bottom. The walls of the dehydrator are built up by the exterior of the drying trays. So as the trays stack, it constructs the exterior wall. Now, the bottom tray and the bottom portion of the dehydrator are not the same nor are they meant to sit one inside the other, just on.... (In alignment)

will these trays fit the FD-75A model?

I have only been using this dehydrator for a week now, but love it. I have done radishes, mushrooms, tomatoes and Hatch peppers. There is a learning curve because, while the machine is easy and rather self-explanatory, there are variables in the food, how thick you slice them, ambient temperature and humidity, etc. So you have to take a peek now and then to see how things are going. However, that's easy to do and the instruction manuel suggests you use a journal to keep notes. I found that very helpful. My only complaint is how to position the top piece (the heater) when I am taking a peek. It doesn't sit flat. Not a big deal, but a better design would make it so you could place it aside and not have it roll on the pivot/heater mechanism. That being said, I definitely recommend this dehydrator as a good buy. I'm loving it and think dehydrating is a lot of fun.

The best features:
The FAN is housed in the top position. Long years ago, when I bought my first food dehydrator, the machinery was in the BOTTOM position. While that might have some advantages for balance, it meant that whatever dripped or fell down impacted the piece with moving parts. Consequently, clean-up, PARTICULARLY of grease drippings, was difficult, as you can't immerse the unit in hot water. I really like this design.
The time and temperature controls are easy to use. A helpful guide to temps for different snacks is printed on the control unit, so I don't have to remember. It also makes it possible to get a batch going that will be finished in the middle of the night, and not have to set an alarm to wake up and turn it off.
Very quiet. I was running a batch in the room next to where I was having a meeting, and it presented no problem at all. I have even had a conversation at the kitchen table while to machine was running, and I didn't have to raise my voice to be heard.
A new development, and one I haven't tried yet, are the tiny grid Clean-a-screens. I'm going to try dehydrating nectarines today, and that might be the way to go.
My 16-year-old son Kenneth is fascinated by the process of seasoning and applying the beef to make jerky.

J. Davel : Get delivered in a shipping box. Works great!

The initial shipment came with small crack in the side because it was shipped in thin retail box with no cushioning. I wanted to save the planet from more shipping materials,. . . The replacement shipment was the same, but undamaged. The crack would have been fine, but I didn't want to have a new one with a tiny air leak and potential for eventually becoming a larger crack.
But love the timer! Easy to use. The temp control lists a much higher number than my dial temp version. It's more likely the dial version was off or the thermostat wasn't as good.
It didn't dry any faster than the older 500W version, but I found that this one seems be more even: not to require exchanging the top and bottom trays even though the system is the same and I'm using my extra trays from the old one. I also like the newer (same diameter) trays

Buyer beware. Got an used, scratched and not clean unit rather than the brand-new i've paid for. Can't return it b/c shipped outside USA thru freight forwarder. At least it turns on, fan spins & seems to be working properly. Trays a bit bent but they will work just fine. Still have to do some internal temperature measuring here to cross-check how precisely it holds temperature. Disappointed but still willing to give this one a try & report back here.

We make homemade treats for our dogs so I decided to get a dehydrater instead of doing in our oven. This one is great. Size is good and our first two crops of sweet potato, zucchini, yams and carrots for the pups came out perfect as did the next few batches. Very very pleased. I was hesitant as some said the fan was loud, but thought, well I can put in one of our empty bedrooms. However the fan is not loud or destracting at all so have in our kitchen. Have not had any issues and we are very pleased.

I bought this specifically for the timer and it is amazing. Works wonderful heat from the top instead of the bottom I still rearrange the trays partway through. Worth every penny. The trays can be the hardest part to clean the rest of it way easy

I was excited to get this dehydrator, but when it came, the trays were slightly off and didn't fit quite right, and the screens were deformed. I went ahead and used it thinking this would not matter. It does. When I'm drying herbs, It's almost impossible to get everything together and fitting correctly. My last Nesco did not give me these problems, but it was an old one. I plan to return it.
