what do i do to get a replacement switch that just broke and get me working again?

Answer: the best way is just google it you won't find it on amazon

Is a fillet knife able to thru the centre bone of a 10 lb fish .

Answer: I found this knife only can handle up to 4-5lb fish and not wear its parts out and dull blades . Mine cleaning up to 7-8lb dulled knives and wore knife latches out in 3 weeks .

Answer: Not very easy used on large strippers use other knife or snipers for backbone.

Answer: Depends on fish type I would guess. It does well on catfish and crappie, cutting thru the ribs and along the spine.

This is shown as a kit which includes a carrying case. When advancing to the order page only the knife is shown. Does this come with a case?

Answer: It included no carrying case as of 2 1/2 years ago. By the way, I'm still filleting fish like crazy with this thing and it never backs down. I work it pretty hard on some big cat fish and it never seems to over heat. This was a problem with the Walmart brands I'd ruined before finding the Piranha.

Answer: No carrying case with mine. The salt water Piranha that I bought 11 years ago had a cloth case with it. This was advertised as salt water Piranha but it is not the same knife - different blade - and is salt water/freshwater Piranha. Don't think they make the salt water Piranha anymore. This is still a good knife and more powerful than most.

Answer: No! It does not come with the blade shown! Nothing is advertised right about it! It comes with long slanted end blades. It quit working while filleting our first batch of fish!

Do yall have replacement blades thst are curved on the end for a MT 1208?

Answer: Not in the 2 packages I purchased. Neither came with two sets of blades. The new version of the "Piranha Blade" has the same cutting edges as the regular blades, the only difference is the greater length. They do not work like the original Piranha Blades that had a much finer tooth structure to the serrations. These newer units are no better than standard, and don't have the feature that made the old ones most attractive.

Answer: I would imagine so, it sounds like the breakage was from normal wear and tear. Ours has worked wonderfully from the beginning. If you don't ask you will never know. They may be willing just to replace the entire knife.

10/18/13 Now on my 4th knife and am removing my recommendation. I think they are made cheaper now.

I bought my 2nd knife in 2011 from Bass Pro, it failed during it's first year with moderate use, trigger switch failed. They replaced it for free but then that one died in 2012, blades would just twitch, guess the nylon gears were worn out. It didn't even last a year.
I purchased a 4th knife from Bass Pro in the spring of 2013 and after only 4 uses it stopped working, no power when pressing the trigger. It's still under warranty so I'll soon be on my 5th and last Mister Twister saltwater electric fillet knife. The manufacture has been very good to work with but the product is very disappointing.

I've been using electric fillet knives for the last 10 yrs. Started with freshwater Mister Twister and Rapala, not bad for a few smaller fish but they overheat and quit working if cleaning for more than an hour. The Saltwater Piranha from Mister Twister is the best knife yet. It is more powerful and can handle a larger blade. We catch a lot of fish so it's not uncommon to clean for over 2 hours straight and some are very large, 80 lb spoonbill and 40 lb catfish. I really like the included "shark" blade for crappie, very flexible and easily cuts through the ribs. The narrow blade makes it easy to make quick turns. I use a standard Mister Twister 9 inch blade for cleaning catfish and spoonbill. My Piranha just died after 3 yrs of hard work and I will be buying another one.

At first, I thought it was the best. Busted through panfish and handle still cold. But,once the bigger walleye over 20",it broke one of the blade retaining clips and only 1 blade oscillated rendering it useless. Sent back and got a replacement and it's reserved for small panfish only.

Kinked up cord is a waste.

Only good feature is blades are easily available for replacement.

I'm still waiting on the perfect electric knife that won't give me carpal-tunnel on my hands and available replacement blades but it's just a fantasy.

Used only once and seemed to cut well. Pretty smooth. Literally after just using it for about 7-8 minutes, it shut off and was not able to turn back on, even after 5-10 min. I guess from what I read about other electric knives, these things get easily overheated and quit. I'm guessing this one is no different. I didnt even stress the knife by cutting anything tough, so questioning the reliability of these knives, including this one for sure!

The first time I took this out of the package it came on while I was inserting the blades cutting me. No, I did not accidently depress the trigger. Moving it side to side causes it to come on without touching the switch. Wiggling the cord makes it come on and will not shut off unless cord is pulled rom the wall. Upon reading other reviews from other sites, faulty switches and wiring have been documented in the past. Feeling these were isolated incidences, I got one, unfortunately mine is one of those ones that was not working right out of the box. Ironically I see a sticker on it stating quality control passed...yeah right. If you are going to go with this knife, be aware that this can be an issue. I never did get to cut anything with it (except my hand when it came on without touching anything)so I cannot comment on performance. I am working with Green Mountain Outfitters where I purchased it to get a refund or exchange. we will see where that goes.

Product was advertised as the Saltwater Piranha with carrying pouch and curved blade. I have used one of them for 10 years and have gotten great service from it and it is still working. The true Saltwater Piranha is getting hard to find so when I saw it advertised, I decided to get one since my other one was getting old. Sadly when my knife was delivered today, it was the Saltwater and Freshwater Piranha, without a carrying pouch or curved Saltwater blade. My brother bought the Saltwater/Freshwater Piranha and the blade got dull after using it just a few times. I have not used mine yet but only gave it a 3 star rating since it is a cheaper version than advertised.

quits working after a half hr. wiggle on the wires into the knife and starts working again for a while. costs to much to return very disappointed in this knife I have 3 other electric knifes but my wrists get sore from using them ,this works good until it decides to quit on me Just have to chalk this up as a loss no use contacting the company ,for this small amount of money spent I have owned several mr twister knifes in the past and they stood up very well for me that is why i ordered this one sorry i did this ,maybe the next one would be ok ,just don't want to chance it .

Can't give it a zero so I have to give it a 1 star. Blades are worthless. Bought a new set because I thought I had dulled the first set somehow. Have to force them which makes cleaning several fish hard work and wastes a lot of meat trying to saw through the fish. I am in the market for a different manufacturer.

On the first use, one of the blades quit stroking. It would only vibrate. My problem is that the first use was not until several months after purchase. I bought it for a backup. Return date has obviously expired. Will try Mr Twister for help. Not very hopeful.

We purchased this after our Cuisinart electric knife died after 5 years, did not use it more than 5 times per year. I was determined to find a better electric for home use carving turkey, ham, etc. The reviews on most electric knives are horrible, just garbage. This has a more powerful motor than many knives, comes in 2 versions, and the blades are very sharp. 1 year warranty and the manufacturer will repair it when the warranty has passed for a nominal fee. Extraordinary! This Piranha version is blue/white with a 9 inch blade and from amazon or the manufacturer's website you can order the 7.5 inch blades for a very low price. The Mister Twister electric knives were marketed to the fish filleting industry and they can cut through fish bones. It has worked fine for us so far,cutting turkey, ham, pot roast and the 9 inch blades are OK. Commercial electric knives for use in restaurants and food service operations no longer exist. This is the closest knife to a commercial model but it has been used on fish and bones. We have high hopes. This knife did not come with a box for storage, but I hunted on amazon and found a perfect plastic box: IRIS Supply Case-Large Amazon ASIN # is B009ok9cx8. Measures 13.5 X 5.2 X 2.5 inches, made of clear plastic with 2 snaps on the side, for $6.99. It fits the electric knife, 2 blades, and the 6 ft. electrical cord we use for convenience in using the knife, also purchased from amazon. Safer than storing in a bag. Fits perfectly.

There is two problems with the Piranha electric knife (at least the one I bought) the trigger would not engage the micro switch solid enough to keep it running, I took it apart to find that the trigger is hollow and the tit,bump or what ever was supposed to touch the micro switch was either broken off (not apparent) or was too short, secondly the blade release switch/button is in a inappropriate place, while filleting your thumb will naturally put pressure on it and release the blades(or it was a problem for me, right handed) It does not seem to have any more power than the lower priced Mister Twister that I also own. It appears the key is not necessarily more power you need but, rather keeping the blades sharp.

RECOMMENDATION: Mister Twister & extra blades (same company just lower price)
