Answer: The best I can tell about the differences is with the soft mode you can seal items like bread, muffins or other soft items that you want to retain the shape of and not end up with an unidentifiable mass of food. Answer: Yes, the food saver can seal a 4' wide bag. You can cut the 11", 10" or 8" wide vacuum sealer bags to 4". The food saver can seal 3 sides before you vacuum seal your goodies.
Answer: I have not seen a 4 inch bag marketed. However, you can make your own out of a roll. It seals based upon the opening in the unit. I would buy the roll and just cut to size.

This was easy to use but I had lots of food to seal. After so long the left side would not grab or release. And this affected the suction and sealing process. Made it very hard to finish up. Used another day and it grabbed then stopped again.

I love this machine. The only thing I wish it would have send to make sure you have to push on the two corners to use the machine. Make sure you have at least 1/2 to 1 inch of the bags to seal the one side because it needs a little bit more area to vacuum seal.

This is my first time using a seal a meal. I absolutely love it. Even my son love to help me with vaccum sealing food. It's definitely worth the money. I ordered it so I can start portioning my chicken breast, chicken tenders, and other meats. So far I've used it a couple times and it works great. My son is vaccum sealing frozen biscuits so that we won't have to put the rest of them in a ziploc bag. It's light weight and easy to store in the cabinet.

Don't buy this product it's a waste of money. I have used less than a dozen time and it won't fully vacuum all the air out of the bag. Customer service I'd horrible

Does not work well if there's any liquid in the bag
Suction power is on the weak side - I've had difficulty vacuum sealing bags that only contained a single 1lb steak

The first one I purchased was defective. I got ahold of customer support (don't waste your time) if your isn't working, mine was not sucking the air out. Just ask for a replacement. Got my replacement the next day and it works great!!! I love it

It was hard to figure out at first because it wouldnt latch down unless I put a lot of pressure on it. I think it's great for the price but I was hoping for more suction.

There’s definitely a learning curve. It’s not the easiest to use. But we don’t have anything to compare it to, ha. The suction seems to work some times and not others. Not entirely sure if this is user error though or I’d take off more stars.

Vacuum portion is not very efficient. Must seal bag twice. Calling 800 number just puts you on old forever. Probably should invest higher up chain.

It works great and I believe I got my moneys worth. It's easy to use and the larger seal makes it keep it seal. You have 2 settings and a seal setting which helps when I don't need to vacuum seal.

I love this machine. Any leftovers, when baking, cooking, or roasting I just pop it in a bag and vacuum/seal. Extremely satisfied!

I have had this product for a little over a month, used it a handful of times, sometimes it takes all the air out before sealing, other times it a fight to get the air out it just sucks the air out briefly and seals leaving a big pocket of air in the package. My advice stick to foodsaver brand

Used it to vacuum seal some marinated steaks for 2 days. The vacuum was extremely tight. When we cut the package open and took the steaks out you just knew that the flavoring had permeated the meat. After grilling, the steaks were amazing.

I needed something I could haul back and forth the my parents house for freezing meals for them, as they recover from an illness. This sealer has been perfect for that. Lightweight and easy to use. Bags seals without issues. Sealed bags take up so much less space then Ziplock bags. I think it is a great value for the price. It even comes with an extra rubber seal.

For the money, it's a decent little vacuum sealer. I have found during a routine morning of packaging that I have to let the machine "rest" for about 5-10 minutes. The sealing function overheats and just won't work. I found out the machine doesn't work AT ALL when it's overheated.
The first time it happened I was set to re-box it and send it back. After a few minutes, I figured I'd give it one more try and it worked. Following a hunch, when it happened again I waited 7 or 8 minutes and it worked perfectly.
For the price, I guess I can pace myself and hope to get at least two seasons of use before it quits permanently.
Next time (and I know there will be a next time) when I buy a vacuum sealer I'll spend the extra money and buy a better-known appliance with a warranty.

Really doesn't remove a lot of the air. I have read through the instructions and watched videos in case I was doing it wrong. It does vacuum and seal - but leaves a lot of air in the package. I wouldn't buy again.

I live alone so being able to freeze left overs is major for me. This allows me to do single packaging for myself. I wish the suction was stronger but it works. Been wanting one for awhile so happy to have it.

This is my first time using a seal a meal. I absolutely love it. Even my son love to help me with vaccum sealing food. It's definitely worth the money. I ordered it so I can start portioning my chicken breast, chicken tenders, and other meats. So far I've used it a couple times and it works great. My son is vaccum sealing frozen biscuits so that we won't have to put the rest of them in a ziploc bag. It's light weight and easy to store in the cabinet.

This worked well for a month then stopped. Called customer service spoke with Theresa M who promised to send a replacement within 7-10 days since it was still under warranty but that never happened and she stopped responding to emails
